No question about it.he's the best fighter on the planet right now..4th round ko over a younger, bigger guy..a 150=light middleweight..just knocked out a 164-super middleweight...........and all you said"oh floyd wont stand toe to toe he wont be coming foward...hate,hate,hate....keep hating.......42-0 7 time world champion..wbc and lineal ww champion...#1 ww
for brother jay, a correction on an otherwise good post.
i believe the weight disparity on fight night for both pacquiao v margarito as well as clottey were similar - or maybe it was cotto.
just thought i would throw that out there.
How can you not KTFO a chinny chin fighter with two free power shots! Fans of Mayweather should be at least be ashamed of what Floyd did last night to Ortiz. The fight last night was one of the worst if not the worst ever PPV boxing match-up ever and it’s a wrong Floyd fight to gloat on.
Absolutely right, Larry.
But keep in mind that DLH came in heavier than Ortiz did. This is NOTHING NEW to Floyd. He's been the best on the planet for years .. whether certain people want to give him credit for it or not.
As I've said before, outside of HW, no other boxer is winning under these conditions. Only Roy Jones has given up that much weight and that was years ago.
Pacquiao, Hopkins, Martinez, Donaire, Khan, Cotto, Margarito, Marquez, Chad Dawson, Gamboa, Ward .. NO ONE has gone in with that kind of weight disparity and won. Most don't even have the balls to try.
That's what the best does: He does things that others can't do. He makes things that others refuse to even try to do look easy.
That's what sets the best apart from the good.
Any boxer can win a catchweight match which has the bigger man dehydrating down. How many can win where the bigger man gets to come in where he feels comfortable? That is the true mark of greatness.
This isn't the first time Floyd has beaten someone 2 weight divisions larger than him.
It was nice to see Floyd bring it. I'm glad that Floyd did everything just the way he did it to. I bet the next time someone wants to keep touching gloves they'll think twice about it.
If Roach thinks that he sees some weakness in Floyd, then why is Pacquiao still refusing to sign the contract? Roach knows that if Floyd can KO a 24 year old man weighing 164lbs, then Pacquiao, who has been knocked out twice before, is in serious jeopardy.
Watch for Pacquiao to seek a fight with Ortiz next, but he'll stipulate that Ortiz come in at 145lbs. Manny is weak and he knows it. Otherwise he wouldn't have to worry about what his opponent comes in at like Floyd does.
Good thread, Larry.
This ^ green K for excellent comment.
The sad thing is true Pactards cannot be convinced until their idol gets KO'ed by 42-0. It is unfortunate such an impeccable and utterly fascinating skillset manifested to human eyes as the deity known as Mayweather does not get full recognition but in the future even Pactards will look back in history and recognize Floyd for being the greatest of our time without question.
You guys have to be kidding me. Ortiz held his own and was landing hits. That fight only proved that may will not last against PAC in fight. You have to be really for the stars if going to credit him for knocking out a guy who wasn't even looking or paying attention. Ortiz was busy looking at the ref, why that beyond me. Ortiz was waiting for the ref to start the fight was it his bad yeah did he pay for it yeah. Sitting here saying Floyd looked great is just pushing it and riding him to hard. Floyd was up but not dominating and Ortiz was able to put pressure on him. I would have liked to see how the fight would have gone if it was 12 rounds.
You sir, have got to be kidding US.
Pac would get humbled like Oritz just for a few rounds more.
A great fighter (Pac) against an untouchable prodigy and legend (42-0)
zzzz let's see if he can SURVIVE JMM first.

Props to Floyd for the win I was very impressed with everything except the sucker punch. Too be perfectly clear he was still going to KO Ortiz in the later rounds.
absolutely. It was inevitable, and that is why it blows my mind how anyone wants to discredit his amazing display of raw skill uncontended by anyone on the planet. Ortiz dug his own grave, he took the express punch out, and for some reason Pactards see that as a way to degrade Floyd 42-0 Mayweather?
Floyd is shiit.
The way that fight was going, Ortiz actually held his own very well. The only time Ortiz looked bad was when he would stand still, Floyd would tee off on him when he did that. Otherwise Ortiz was bullying him around and actually pressuring him as well.
I could see Pacquiao beating Mayweather now. After watching that, Pacquiao could definitely beat Mayweather. He's way faster and his power is on another level. He could do a lot more than what Ortiz did. 60/40 Pacquiao now.

Na stop lying to yourselves. Floyd ain't P4P for beating a guy who's unranked and was fighting after a 16 month layoff. He's number 2 at best. P4P No. 1 is Bernard Hopkins
Of course Floyd is the p4p king, possibly the greatest past present and future,
Pactards are pulling their hair out because 42-0 cannot be touched. Pacman will be lucky to survive JMM, who Floyd made look like an amateur and I am a JMM fan and that is hard to do. Heck Erik Morales (who is also legend) beat Pac, Floyd even coming close to losing to another human in a boxing ring is absurd.
