Jim Lampley: "If you claim to be the best fighter in the world, you shouldn't have to do that"
I think this sums it up best.
Ortiz is a dumbass for the headbutt and an even bigger ass for the apology during the fight. But that was the biggest cheap shot I've ever seen in combat sports, legal or not.
Floyd is the best because he is not only skillful, he is incredibly spiteful. But this is boxing. Eye for an eye. Ortiz deserved it.
And i truly hate Floyd, but thought justice was done. Ortiz threw his chance away with the butt, and not protecting himself.
I knew Floyd was gonna punch him as they touched gloves. Ortiz just aint smart enough.

totally agree with jim lampley. floyd should have taken the high road instead of trying to retaliate by sucker punching ortiz. floyd could have accepted ortiz's apology and continued schooling him for the next few rounds and eventually KO him the proper way, but he didn't and it made him look just as classless as ortiz.
Ortiz isn't even really complaining... He knows he messed up, and that's why he took what happened with that charming smile....
The first punch was a cheap shot, the second aka the KO punch was legit no matter how u stretch it.... But, haters gonna hate
Nah man.....his entire team was happy as hell dude, no complaining from anyone.....they all got paid loot to play along. This was nothing more than a WWE match under the guise of boxing. Floyd's team tossed Ortiz an extra mill or so to toss the fight and then they will do it again early next year.
That's why I won't buy Floyd's PPV's....
Cortez had to watch the action replays to see what it was that knocked Ortiz out. It could have been a sidekick to the head as far as he was concerned because he sure wasnt watching and Floyd knew that.
so Floyd has to fight differently because he believes he's the best?
When you talk as much as he does, say the things he does, your going to be scrutinized more heavily. He should know that and he should know what he did doesnt help the scrutiny go away.
Sh!t is a straight joke...that had payoff written all over it. Dude gets sucker punched and he and his team all have stupid grins on their faces. Floyd was guaranteed 20 M for that fight and Ortiz 2.5 M. All Floyd had to do was offer him an extra 1 M to play along and then they can enact the rematch clause (for all those wondering why the rematch clause), and then Ortiz can have the real shot. That's after all ya'll suckers have been duped for $120.00 dollars for two PPV's.
This is why boxing is corrupt.....
true, if you are the best you dont need to do that. Always controversy where floyd is because he cant seem to win fights fair and square.
He cheated hatton, but Flomos say if Cortez didnt help Floyd, floyd would still have won? So why dont people just let Floyd win without help if hes supposed to be a good fighter?

Haters gonna hate? Nah, anyone with a brain is going to hate what happened last night. Even if you wanted Floyd to win you wouldn't have wanted him to win like that because it just makes him look bad.

man how can floyd even sleep with ellerbe tonight?
nah, hell celebrate with 50cent, lighting the room with their lightsavers, noticed how piddy wrap his arm around floyd walking to the ring? sweet eh?
I agree.
Victor Ortiz is a bit soft in the head, but the sucker punch from Mayweather was the poorest example of sportsmanship I've seen since James Butler sucker punched Richard Grant on ESPN:
Don't be a dumbass. The fight was already over when Butler punched Grant. How can you even compare the two incidents?
You've been ranting all over this board with your piss-poor judgements. Lay low for a while and get some sleep.
Yes, he has to be an ambassador for the sport.
Boxing = warriors, honorable, fearless, hard working.
Mayweather last night = cheap, coward, immature as Ortiz.
Its like a kid stole his candy and he just thumped them in the face even though the kid was 8 years younger than him. Its just not "right".
10 in this case, haha. yeah even if it was fair or legal, it just didn't look good coming from one of the 'best' in the sport. he's done some similar stuff like this, but still, doesn't make it a okay or fine him to continue doing it.
To some degree that's true, but Mayweather has always been opportunistic, he dropped Gatti as Gatti was complaining to the ref, he clipped Mosley as Mosley reached out to touch gloves, it's nothing new.
Also, Ortiz's headbutt may have triggered it.
You don't say! No wonder Floyd is ducking Manny. He knows he has no chance on winning.

It was incredibly cheap but ortiz should have been paying attention. Floyds always taken advantage on these inbetween moments. Remember when gatti dropped his hands and looked at the referee and floyd clocked him before he had a chance to put his hands back up.
