So who do you think has a better chance of winning their respective fights? Arguments can be made for either opponent.. Initial reactions to these fights suggested JMM was in way over his head. However as the smoke has cleared it appears these fights are close to one another in terms of competitiveness..
Who has a better chance of winning, Victor Ortiz or Juan Manuel Marquez? Poll to follow, please discuss! :boxing::boxing:
Yea, that is as good a bet as any involving that fight, really whatever chance Ortiz has is from stoppage and he is mentally weak enough that Floyd could break him from there it is just a toss to complete the stoppage.
Probably 50/50 so that is a good bet.
My feeling is this. Ortiz has about 4 rounds early to capitalize on knocking Mayweather out. Not his only chance to do it, but the odds will only decrease from said point on.
In the event that Mayweather begins boxing the ears off of Ortiz. Will Ortiz be willing to continue coming forward? Even as his punches become wider and easier to anticipate for Mayweather? I'm thinking yes. I think the Maidana fiasco has brought him to the point mentally where he'll be more inclined to go out on his shield than avoid additional punishment in the moment.
Will Mayweather be willing to sit down on his punches as the fight drags on into the later rounds? Yes I think he will. Ortiz imo is more likely to go out like Hatton than like Mosley, and in this particular fight.. I think Mayweather will be happy to oblige.
I wanna say JMM cause he's got the style to beat Pac. The problem is I think JMM needs a KO to beat Pac, cause he will never get a decision from the judges. And I don't think JMM can KO Pacquiao.
I think Vic only has a puncher's chance, but like someone said before, Mayweather is still pretty resilient. So I guess I'll go with Vic, even though I don't think his puncher's chance will be good enough
I agree for the most part. Except, that I think JMM can win by decision if Manny hasn't improved at all from their second fight. We'll see how truly Pac has improved in this fight, especially against one of the best combination counterpunchers.
It's currently +125 on 5dimes that Mayweather/Ortiz does not go the distance.. I admit it may not be a great bet but I had to put a couple dollars on it. At the least, it should be fun money to watch. Unless Mayweather gets on a bike for 10-12, which I have a strange feeling won't happen this time..

Jeeze, the poll numbers so far are laughable. Lets apply common sense here. Ortiz is younger, prime & coming off a career defining win. Marquez is nearing 40, fighting two weight classes north of his effective weight. He has been hurt & dropped by lightweight power. Ortiz has a good chance & Marquez has none.
...............
I would consider it a push.
Floyd is an unknown, he stays in good shape so he should be alright but people age differently while Ortiz is young, strong and appears very hungry but his overall level appears to be below Floyd.
Manny versus JMM both are great fighters and have fought to a standstill over two fights basically but Manny appears to be in really good condition while JMM has seemingly slipped although he has managed to overcome it against everyone but Floyd. I am not bothered by the weight class just overall mileage on JMM and it has been looking like the clock is about to strike on him going all the way back to Casamayor but if JMM can manage to keep the clock where it is, who knows then should be fairly even.
I wouldn't give either guy a good shot but both deserve some consideration.

To have absolutely any chance of winning JMM would have to stay off the canvas, Mayweather put him down and he is featherfisted compared to Pacquiao. Katsidis put him down and he is a lightweight. JMM would also have to be a few years younger and magically grow into a welterweight frame in 100% form at age 38. JMM looses in a fraud fight, and the idiots line up Arums pockets...
You aren't going to watch it on PPV?

i give ortiz the better chance at winning. jmm is old and moving up. i have a feeling he might even get stopped this time despite his good performances against pac in the past.
for me, JMM by a mile. i wouldn't be surprised one bit if he beats pacquiao. he just has manny's #, end of story.
ortiz may have a puncher's chance, but even at that, floyd has shown a good chin and resiliency.
At a lower weight, yes. But Pacquiao looks just as fast and powerful at welterweight. JMM does not. And Marquez is older. I expect Pacquiao to tag Marquez at least as much as Katsidis did. The difference is that Pacquiao has much more speed and power. If Marquez is fortunate enough to go the distance he'll be a bloody mess in the end.
Bro, JMM having no chance and sh*tting on this fight is old news.. This poll makes that official!
Uh...No it doesn't. This is NSB. That doesn't represent the entire boxing community.

Ortiz. He's younger, coming off a big win and Mayweather is coming off a long layoff. And he's 10 years older than Ortiz. .

as far as marquez it just a lil to late for him. maybe a few years back but not now. pacquiao is bigger stronger and better than before. while marquez was drop by katsidis 2 fight ago shows that he quite not the same. marquez just a lil to long in the tooth.
i think Ortiz has a better chance at a upset. the kid is younger, fresher, and has nada to lose against an opponent that he has a physical advantage over plus he is coming off the best win of his carrer.
confidence plays a big role and ortiz is at an all time high. boxing is as much physical as it is mental.
just my 2 cents
