I hear alot of negativity here.but Boxing is pure and defines life to me
1 on 1,you can fall and you have the option to get up and learn from your mistakes or stay down, what you do and don't do defines you, your legacy, what people will say about you when you're gone.your own actions can end up with you flat on your face or with you raised up with your hands in the sky.you take your destiny in your own hands and determine your own fate.i love this sport and hte when people nit pick on every damn thing and make every thing negative...THIS IS MY LIFE,MY HEART MY SOUL,I BLEED BOXING................DO YOU?

Mostly self discipline and yea.. life. There's ups and downs. **** can be hard but the payoff if youre dedicated is worth it. Plus, lots of self control.
2 men in a ring settling a dispute with fist. :boxing:
sounds simple but it's so much more. the passion and dedication both fighters put in leading up to a fight before they go at it in the ring. the mental toughness needed to be a great fighter. pride and legacy on the line.
the purest form of man vs man competition. unlike other team sports like football or basketball. it's just you. your success is not depended on the teammates around you but only on you. just you in the ring with an opponent wanting the same thing you want, the win.
all the hours training and pushing your body to the limit comes down to this one moment, and it's up to you to what you're going to do with it.
beautiful.
cheers boxing fans :beerchug:
Great fights, it gets no simpler. Even if they're not the greatest fighters in the world, when 2 warriors come together and create something special.
EM/MAB
Pac/JMM
SRL/Hearns(the first is still my favorite fight of all time)
Hagler/Hearns
Hagler/SRL
**** Even Berto/Ortiz was between 2 fighters, who although not great, were determined to win. Ortiz's will was too strong, but it was a war.
It's funny, I was watching my old collection and heard Steward lose his **** about as bad as he did in Berto/Ortiz. It was during one of my all time favorite fights; Toney/Jirov.
In life you have to be a fighter, have to develop thick skin and be able to control your emotions and roll with the punches life throws at you.that speach rocky gave was so on point
Before I even knew what boxing really was, I saw Muhammad Ali being interviewed on tv. He had so much charisma and confidence, I'd never heard a sportsman speak like that. Rapping, hitting back with quick witted retorts, performing rhyming soliloquies to the camera. I think I became a fan from that moment on.
At first I just watched cuz my pops watched it. Didn't rlly undrstnd the sport like I do now. I was like a baby when I first watched Jones Holyfield and Tyson, those are the boxers I remember my dad watching when I was a kid, and out of the 3 I really liked Jones. He really made me like the sport a lot and I wanted to be like him, Jones also motivated me to box too.
And now here I am. Hardcore fan of boxing, following as much fights as I can but I can't watch all of them. Can't rlly xplain in better detail cuz I'm on my Torch, it's a lil uncomfortable typing these tiny keys. Good thread tho Larry.

very good post from a good boxing fan.
your passionate post for boxing reminds me of my passion for p0rn, everything you typed, word for word.
but for real, i love boxing just as much.
i gotta agree man. I love boxing because its a combination of hard work, skill, intelligence, and will rolled into one. Its about knowing your opponent and knowing yourself and pushing yourself to your physical peak.
I Corinthians 9:26-27 "That is why I run straight for the finish line;that is why I am like boxer, who does not waste his punches.I harden my body with blows and bring it under complete control." Paul liked his boxing and respected the way they trained as well.
It is my firm belief that God gave us boxing to inspire us. I was stuck in my wheelchair and just started watching boxing got hooked and inspired by the discipline and hard work that every boxer gives to make weight. It got me to the gym to work out. As long as I'm working out I'm able to walk around just fine. Did you know the Apostle Paul liked boxing?
