So whats the point of criticizing Floyds first fight at that weight again?
And the Pac thing is annoying it helped him greatly that him Marg, Cotto and Clottey all had the SAME promoter.
No?
Geez.
agree.....
the thread is about floyd's work at ww....
no need to muddle the thread by comparing floyd to pac..
even the issue of floyd ducking marg or cotto or pac is subjective..
credit due to floyd must be given
Cory Spinks was not a top tier welter?
Cory beat Judah as well ...
Cory can make the best of them look bad in a fight .... technically sound defensively but offensively he doesn't fight his weight .... Zab vs Cory is a fight where if Zab can eventually tag Cory then he has a chance ..... and that is what happened. IF Zab's other opponents fought like Spinks there would be less reason to go down to a smaller weight class. That is, less of a threat from the bigger boys (no respect required).
BUT just look at his record at WW. Let's be honest here!!! Those wins he won don't jump out at you and give you that "WOW, look who he beat" feeling.
BUT when you lose to 5 WW including Baldomir then one has to question how good Judah was at WW and whether he truely belonged at WW. That was my point.
I don't know another way to realistically argue other than point in time.
I gotta go fellas. Its been real. Ill check back later tonight. Peace
I think my point was that it is more comparable to use Margarito's win over Clottey than the Martinez win because they are more comparable in a time frame
Clottey win was months after
Martinez was years prior
arguably but you can't put a time frame on this
why
because stopping time to make your case doesn't take in the entire picture
for example
I can say that Martinez was probably his best win but overall I think it's Clottey if we include 2006 as an entire year
we all know Clottey beat Judah in 2008 IMO pretty handily too
to me it's not fair for Mayweather fans to say Martinez was his best win YEARS ago when Clottey was merely months after Judah lost to Baldomir

Pound for Pound king and figher of the Decade, Manny Pacquiao defeated older Mosley bedder than Mayweder did, thats all that matters. He didn't kockout Mosley because of car accident and leg cramps but he still beat him bedder.
- Judah couldn't beat the top tier WWs and had trouble with average ones as well. He lost to 5 WWs then realized that he was better at 140 than 147 and moved there recently.
- Baldomir beat that Judah and beat a ready to retire Gatti who was not a WW career fighter but was stuck because he struggled to make 140.
- Mosley is the best one of them who really was a true WW champ but his age and rust (16 months layoff) made that win not as impressive as it could have been IF they had fought several years earlier. So one can safely say that that was not the Mosley of old but rather an old Mosley. His next 2 fights pretty much put a stamp on Mosley turning OLD ... Plus there is always going to be that question of Mosley fighting those other career defining fights while on PEDs.
- Hatton was a 140 career fighter who struggled at 147 to the point that he went back down to 140 for several fights. He fought Floyd because the opportunity was there NOT because Hatton was a top 147 fighter.
- Ortiz, just like Hatton, has ~1 win under his belt at 147. So that is a big question mark that needs to be answered. Ortiz has struggled against several opponents and the only reason we are calling him champ is because he faced a Berto that appeared to be very chinny and never fully recovered from that first round. Berto still caught Ortiz every time he swung. This is a Berto that people were saying, "who has he really beaten?" So Ortiz has a suspect defense to go along with his inexperience at 147. Not a good combo when your next fighter is named Floyd.
In summary, who have Hatton, Ortiz, Baldomir and Judah really beat at 147 to make one say, impressive? The only guy is Mosley but as stated that was not Mosley anymore.
Cory Spinks was not a top tier welter?
Earner thanks. At the time, is beating Martinez a better win than Zab?

Marg fought better overall fighters than Baldo. You act like their resume was close prior to Badlo fighting Judah. The Judah win is the only argument one can make. Because, they can talk about single wins.
No it's not like Ortiz now. They might be other WWs who have more fights than Ortiz. But, what are their resume at WW? No one besides Pac or Floyd right now, have a solid WW resume. Marg at that time had a solid WW resume....Was like what 5-0 against Ring magazine top 10 WWs? So it's nothing and I mean nothing like the Ortiz situation. Where one win can elevate past other WWs cuz' the other other WW resume were lacking. Marg wasn't lacking not compared to the other WWs at that time.
Earner pointed out his best win was Sergio Martinez. Looking back thats a great win. Did anyone feel that way then?
Six Heads? Cintron? Hercules whatever his name? All after a loss to Santos. I mean could you possibly be over rating his opponents just a bit?
But you didn't answer what was MArg's best win at the time?
I get your point. But lets take flush argument out. If Marg and Baldo had both fought avreage and below average fighters to that point and Baldo beats Zab and Marg beats Cintron, then BAldo has the better resume. AGree or disagree?
Its like Ortiz right now. There are other ww with more fights at 147. But his win over Berto has elevated him to #3 ww in the world in most rankings because very few ww (right now) have a win as good.

Between Nov 2005 till now Floyd has avoided all the top welter.
Pacquiao
Margarito
Cotto
Williams
Mosley
Mayweather only fought Mosley and that was when he was 38 years old past his best and had been out of the ring for 17 months.
You cannot avoided fighting your top rivals and have a good resume.
When a Zab Judah who was coming of a lost is your best win at the weight it means you have not got a great resume at the weight.
this is old
Because of the above opponents, Mayweather was tagged as a cherrypicker and a coward.
He ducked Margarito, Cotto and now Pacquiao.
So strange/coincidental that all of these fighters Mayweather "ducked" just happen to be Top Rank fighters, interesting, very interesting.
