He sits atop a weak division. His last 3 fights were against the Punisher #3 pfp. The lineal middleweight champion, who was undefeated at that weight. The undefeated jr middleweight champion known for a monsterous jab, but was thoroughly outjabbed & kd'd what 5 times en route to a masterful performance/ko. if Martinez is overrated for that, what does that say about the following, real talk.
Clottey, biggest win Judah. Never shows up when it's time to deliver. Margarito for a 154 lb title after being brutaly ko'd, a year layoff & returned against some guy in Mexico. Mosley, clearly shot, old, but somehow managed to survive against the best fighter in the sport right? Finally a Marquez who's only previous visit to welterweight was a horrible outing that absolutely no real boxing fan respected from Floyd. By the standards that Martinez are judged by, wouldn't that make Pacman, king of a very weak welterweight division overrated too?
Pac beat Hatton barely more than two years ago. He beat Cotto barely more than a year and a half ago. He proved himself years ago. Floyd is fighting Ortiz and beat Mosley in his last fight. He proved himself years ago.
My point with Hopkins is that when Martinez beat Pavlik, people immediately threw him in at p4p #3. People had him at p4p #5 after LOSING to Paul Williams. When he knocked out Williams, people began talking as if he's better than Pacquiao and Mayweather. None of that is as impressive as Hopkins, a proven fighter who has been atop p4p lists, beating Pascal twice, yet I don't see people throwing Hopkins atop the p4p list.
Martinez's last two years is not much more impressive than Pacquiao's, Mayweather's assuming he beats Ortiz, Marquez's, Froch's, Hopkins's, or Ward's, yet people think he is the unquestioned p4p #3 with an argument for #1. For losing to Williams, beating Pavlik, and beating Williams. This was before he even beat Dzinziruk, a good fighter but no world beater.
I noticed u mention Hatton & Cotto, but not Mararito,Mosley or Marquez at welterweight. U know the 3 garbage ppv fights IN A ROW. Like I said though, I leave Hopkins out the argumenyt because as far as i'm concerned he's better than all 3, all time. I don't really see a need to argue his position pfp because he's bigger than an opinionated little argument such as pfp.
Now while Hatton & Cotto were good wins, Pavlik, the Punisher are better in my opinion. Dzinziruk is better than Margarito & Mosley at the time of combat to me also. But like j ro said all 3 can be over or underrated depending on who's doing the rating. Just seems like Martinez gets the brunt of that to keep a man thats beating shot halfdead Margarito, Mosley & a welterweight Marquez higher.

They are both among my few favorite fighters and wouldnt say that either is overrated. I think they are both legitimate top five P4P in the world. However, a dynamic big man beats a dynamic little man, Martinez would KO Manny if they were to fight.
Oh OK now I see :lol1:, my mistake, carry on.
he never just goes for the throat like the other anti Pac guys do
always tries to cover up the agenda with some unrelated topic
then a blatant segue into his diatribes we supposed to not notice
Floyd & pacman beat the liveliest opponents?? When was this bro?? I used to think that Martinez deserved pfp #1 spot, but I really don't about that anymore. It's all opinion anyway. But to say he doesn't even deserve what position he's got is just crazy to me.
In the case of B-Hop, I think he's the greatest active fighter anyway. I don't even see a need to bring him into this. He's 46 & just beat the best champion in his weight class. Who he could have fathered, litterally. that's a better win than Floyd beating Mosley, or Pacman beating Clottey, Margarito, Mosley & Marquez when he does. Just Like Martinez beat the best middleweight champ, in the champs weight class.

it's obvious Jro, this dude transparent as fuck

I still fail to see the point of this thread.

Just because someone can overrate one guy doesn't mean that everybody is overrated.
You can overrate Martinez while at the same time underrate Floyd and Pac.
You can overrate Pac while at the same time underrated Martinez and Floyd.
You can overrated Floyd while at the same time underrated Pac and Martinez.
You can overrate 2 fighters and underrate the other one or vice versa.
It really all depends on who's doing the rating.
Pacquiao and Mayweather have proved how good they are against the liveliest and best of opponents before, which is why putting Martinez on their level is ridiculous. They've proved themselves by dominating fighters WAY better than anyone Martinez has ever fought. And their level of competition the last two years isn't really any worse than Martinez's.
I think Marquez should unquestionably be ahead of Martinez in p4p rankings, let alone Pacquiao or Mayweather. If we are going to give Martinez p4p #1 for beating Pavlik and Williams, we should be giving Hopkins the same for beating Pascal twice.

That's the entire point of this tread brother, the bold. You cannot call a man an a$$hole for bringing up a flaw you criticize about Martinez in Pacman. If we're gonna take into consideration that Martinez fought fighters that stay right in front of you & call him overrated, then we must also take into consideration every last fighter that just stayed in front of Pacman, add old & shot to the equation & really see what comes up. If Martinez is overrated, then Pacman & Floyd are also.

Honestly, he is overrated because some people are putting him as the best middleweight within the last 10 yrs category...
Pavlik and Williams arent overrated IMO.. It amazes me how peeps say Williams is overrated, but gave Martinez the fight of his life. Williams has ALWAYS been hittable; people anointed Martinez king-ding-a-ling because he ko's a fighter who was throwing a punch, with his right hand down to his WAIST. Name ONE fighter who could have withstood that kind of punch in that situation,.. The 1st Williams-Martinez fight was the Martinez that more than likely you will consistently see. The Williams KO wasnt really skill. Its easy to KO a person with their hands down. I just dont give Martinez a ton of credit for that ko like most on here do.
And say what you want about Pavlik, but when he put the pressure on Martinez in those middle rounds,(just like Williams did in that 1st fight) Martinez was getting clapped like a standing ovation at a Jay-Z concert. He's lucky that cut opened up the way it did on Pavlik's eye, or I believe Pavlik would have taken that win.
And as far as Dzizdruik, no one really say him fight stateside. He was undefeated. Martinez made good work out of him, but being that no one has ever really seen Dzizdruik on major HBO/Showtime/ESPN/PPV, no one can really judge just how good or terrible he really was. At least with Pavlik and Williams, what you saw from them every fight is exactly what you got, every fight.
People on this board compared Martinez to B-Hop and actually said that Martinez would BEAT a 160lb B-Hop. He's been compared to Marvelous Marvin and people were co-signing on that. Paul Williams gets compared to The Hitman Hearns (which was always a TERRIBLE comparison) and the board blows up.. Pavlik loses to a great, great boxer in B-Hop and people **** on him tho.. People forget that Martinez got DESTROYED by Margarito, but they say that Martinez "wasnt as good then as he is now" 100 percent bull****.
He is a pretty good fighter, maybe the best at 160; ill give you that. But p4p#1? No way. If anything, I think he is more overrated on this board than by the general boxing public. tho...
I like how you try to make Dzinziruk sound better than he actually is by saying he was the lineal, undefeated middle-weight champ. His best win was Joel Julio.....
About half of the people who saw Williams-Martinez I thought Martinez won. And Cintron clearly, in my opinion, out-boxed Paul the four rounds they fought.
And Kelly Pavlik? Come on, even I think he's a complete joke, and that's considering my sig. And lets not forget Kelly was winning up until the second cut, then he just decided to be a human punching bag.
Lets take into consideration that all these fighters stand right in front of you. Of course you're going to look spectacular against fighters like these, especially when you've got speed and power, it's going to look even more exceptional.
And for all you assholes who are going to bring up Pacquiao, I'm here to tell you hes not excused either, along with many of the P4P fighters.

why do people think this is a great win? dzinziruk was a solid junior middleweight but he wasn't some great dominant champ. the ring had him ranked 8th because he had the belt for years and did very little. his best wins were santos and julio. and lets remember martinez fought him at 160 even though he said he could still make 154 easily. that's strange.
He would have to drop to 154, win that belt, then immediately vacate and move backup or be stripped of his Ring title. He has added muscle to be able to sustain fighting at 160....it takes time to build and lose muscle. If you don't use the much denser muscle to add weight, you'd have to rely on fat....the second option is the dumb one.

If 1 is overrated then all 3 are, sure thing buddy.:fu2:
Not necessary.
Every single fighter, from Pac to Floyd to Martinez is overrated and underrated. And, two of them can be overrated while the other one is underrated or vice versa.
The thing is that it all depends on who's doing the rating.
One can overrate Martinez, while underrate Pac and vice versa.
floyd knew. why do you think he didn't want to fight him in september but after berto "pulled out" he signed right away? even i heard the stories of mosley being battered and looking terrible in training camp for berto and floyd has a lot more connections than me and is close with mosley. he knew.
That would make sense honestly.but me & Jro already cleared the air. I wouldn't doubt that $hit coming from Floyd.
I can respect this post. But we'll agree to disagree on the Mosley that Floyd fought. That Mosley may have been ranked 3rd but any real boxing fan will admit that Floyd nor Pacman were king of 147 as long as the fighter that murdered Margarito was campaining there. That's the Shane Floyd beat. I don't think anyone knew Mosley would be that far gone after 1 of his greatest performances. Ortiz is a real challenge for Floyd, he hasn't fought anyone this young or strong in years. Overall a good post though.

So this thread proves without a doubt that Martinez, Floyd, and Pacquiao are all overrated.
Good ****, :fing02:

Martinez is untested IMO as was Williams, think about it they havent fought anyone worthwhile except eachother... Winky Wright would destroy Martinez, Jermaines coming back... etcl
