Isn't it orinic that a guy of his stature needs to take a tune up to be ready for some bum? I think he was exposed and beat down by that feather fisted journeyman, Mtagwa, and Salido is just a clumsy B-level fighter. Juanma had no business getting knocked out by a bum like him.
Now, who in the cunting the hell is Juanma gonna use as a "tune up?" Imagine what Abner Mares or Gamboa would have done to Juanma....I wish him luck but he may be done.
He was never that good. I remember that fiht with Mtagwa in which he survived the last rounds by moving around and he wasn't knocked out just because he at least showed a good chin to survive. Then he was knocked down against Concepcion, but he was able to knock him out because he was more powerful than the Filipino boxer. Then he was finally beaten by Salido, a hard guy with good punching power and a great chin. Yeah, a clumsy boxer with B level skills, but that was certainly enough to take advantage of JuanMa terrible defence, which by the way was already exposed before by some boxers who were even worse than Salido.
All the credit for Orlando, he gave everything and fought like a warrior, and for Juanma, well as I've said, he just wasn't as good as lots of guys were saying.
Gotta agree with you here. To make matters worse look at what Gamboa did to both Mtagwa and Solis in comparison to Juanma.
neither one will be great. with that said, gamboa is more ready than juanma is, that much is clear.
now. he didn't have half the people currently on his dick back when he was getting knocked down.
we're not talking about who's great or not.
because gamboa has been flawless the minute he turned pro?
i love it.
i remember when gamboa was getting knockdown everyone when off on how juanma was gonna destroy him.
boxing fans are so fickle.

Early in his career? His career IS early. If you go any earlier, you're talking about the journeymen with barely winning records that he fought, that every up and comer fights. This IS Juan Ma in his early career. And he's shown he's just not that good against opposition who are placed in front of him to build his name up. He couldn't even do his part in building up a fight against Gamboa, getting knocked around from left to right..

I agree but he did look impressive early in his career against decent comp.

Salido is a pretty good fighter, no bum.
Juanma was headed towards what happened too him soon anyway. He's too squared up when he fights. He relies on his right hook too much. Mtagwa did expose him. Then Concepcion dropped him. Marquez is a much smaller man, so naturally Juanma will walk through his punches and beat him up like Izzy did. I think he can beat Salido in a rematch, but it's very likely he looks bad again.
I think juan ma's biggest mistake was to say the he was puerto rico's best boxer...Many puerto rican's after the fight felt that he got what he deserved for being so cocky...
Well, that was a devastating loss in his hometown...hopefully he looks ok in the tune up and don't look shot, I want no excuses when Salido knocks him the fuck out again with ease.
We have no idea how he mentally handles a loss he has been regressing ever since the Ponce fight, maybe this is a wake up that his power can't always bail him out or maybe he loses all confidence, he still has plenty of potential and we can only wait to see if he realizes it.
i thought the mtgawa hiccup was enough for him to reevaluate the fighter he thought he was, but it wasn't. did it take a loss for him to do so? we'll obviously have to wait and see.
The guy is pretty good, he can box when he chooses to has plenty of power and heart. He needs to tighten up that D but would still destroy a fraud like Chris John while taking nearly all of his shots and will probably beat Salido a good pressure fighter but nothing special in a rematch if it happens.
the issue is will he? this is the problem I've had with the guy since before the mtgawa and salido exposés.
its one thing to hope that he sees his current fortunes as karmic and wisen up. but will he?
I'm not confident he will.
Seriously am glad he got knocked out, He was content on picking on easy fights, He blatant duck a guy who he should have fought or demand to fight, takes on known name who are either old or war-torn, I use to like him but then one too many is too much..
I'm not, it robbed Gamboa of the chance to do it in what would surely have been a hilarious roflstomp :lol1:
i think alot of posts in this thread are ridiculous. anyone who says he's not good is just typing out there ass.
personally, i don't agree on how he's handled his career. i don't like the fact that he's regressed as a fighter; and i don't like the choice of opponents he's had. doesn't mean he's not a good fighter.
he would be a lot more focus in the rematch.................i dont want no excuse from juanma haters..........after he avenges his loss...........
He better be! It would be an even worse embarrassment to get KTFO again, by a bum.:tragedy:
I'm glad he got KTFO...he was so deserving of one. His attitude and divaish/Floydish behavior had a karma KO coming.
Maybe he can learn to be a bit humble and work on his craft and maybe I'll be a fan in the future. His loss to Salido was karma for being a b*tch against Caballero. How is he having no PPV to his name and talking down to Caba? He had to come correct and Salido handed him his ass.
Till further notice, I'm hoping for a repeat of the same from Salido. He was KTFO and he's still talking and acting like he controls the negotiations
If we look at someone like Lennox Lewis getting KTFO!!! by Rachman... and coming back from that, then JuanMa Lopez certainly can come back and reign supreme form having a fight stopped by the referee.
I think as a whole, we fans only think a fighter is as good as his last performance. A fighter like Sergio with a few good names on his resume is now being touted as p4p etc.
Time will tell what becomes of JuanMa. A loss via TKO in the 7th or 8th round does not have to be the end for any fighter. He will need to tighten up his defense here and there but he can crack and will be back.
Under normal circumstances I'd agree, but with that slow, plodding brawler style, what makes you think he will come back? Can he dramtically change his style? Do I think he can remain relevant at 126? Absolutely. Do I think he can be the best at 126? No. Not against an elite fighter, or in a division as stiff as 126 is right now. In a year or so, imagine him fighting someone like Gary Russell. I think he gets destroyed. Same goes for Gamboa.
Honestly, he is a decent fighter, but not a top fighter at all.
I agree but he did look impressive early in his career against decent comp.
He was, but you could always tell that he lacked that natural athletic ability that makes a good fighter great. Skills pay the bills, but only if the athletic ability is there. He lacks in both departments.
Agreed on all of those points. I'm just saying he has more substance than Chavez Jr...but in relation to the hype, I agree with you.
Yea, I jump the gun sometimes. The hype was driving me crazy though. This is the problem I have when people analyze resumes too much. Sometimes you can just look at a boxer as an athlete and know where they stand. 9/10 times the superior athlete wins when skill is equal. Gary Russell is a good example. People say he is untested, but if you look at his athletic talent and apparent skill level, you just KNOW that he is going to be amazing.
