Is prime tyson better than prime frazier??

Anyone with an ounce of knowledge on Frazier's career would tell you just how ridiculous it is matching him up against punchers - particularly devastating,one punch knockout artists.The man ducked and avoided punchers his entire career for a reason. And if Frazier was somehow dragged - kicking and screaming like a child in a supermarket,no doubt - into such a fight,he would get blown out just like his equally fragile son was. this. i like joe alot, but no way would he beat tyson. as great as he is, he wouldn't have lasted that much more than his son.

I agree and I think Tyson may have even beaten Fraizer also, but Fraizer just has those intangibles that make him great ehhh..... frazier had to wear guys down. going into a power puncher's jaws to apply pressure is not a good thing for joe.

Prime Tyson could and would KO Frazier. It wasn't like Frazier was any good at getting out of the way of punches... Tyson was, and Frazier's looping, methodical left hook would miss every time. And Frazier really wasn't much of a power puncher himself. Tyson by KO... It'll take longer than it took George Foreman, but it'll happen. If not by KO, than definitely by UD as his face will probably be all swelled up from all the clean punches he'd be eating, which would affect his ability to work, no doubt.

Man I feel you. I think Tyson had a better chin than Fraizer, but I think Tyson can be much more discouraged than Fraizer. Tyson had heart, but Fraizer had very great heart. If Big George knocked Tyson down, I don't know how many times he would have gotten up tyson wouldn't have gone down as easily as frazier did.

i don't know why people question tyson's heart and toughness so much. tyson was plenty tough. tyson might have been a front running bully that got discouraged a little in tough fights but he was no quitter either. to beat tyson , you had to beat him up bad. even in losing efforts tyson kept trying even if what he was trying wasn't working. Fraizer is the greater fighter but Tyson would beat him.

Frazier = poor mans Tyson. Tyson in his prime was faster and punched harder. Frazer did have similar style but looked like a retard some times :) I also think that Tyson on hist best day could defeat anyone. I don't think he would have had problems with Ali either. Ali would have gotten instant parkinson after battle with Tyson. But a big guy like Lewis....?

Tyson had great ability but he only showed glimpses.... Depends on what u mean by better because i think tyson wouldnt be able to do to ali what frazier did.

What makes u favor tyson over frazier? tyson has every advantage over frazier. punching power , chin , durability , handspeed , size , strength....... 1. frazier will go to tyson 2. frazier is a slow starter , tyson is a fast starter bad matchup for joe.

I finally got the chance to play the latest fight night a couple of days ago and noticed tyson was rated much higher than smokin joe and got me wondering how a real fight between them would play out. Frazier's achilles heel has always been power punchers and tyson is as big of a puncher as they come. But tyson has wilted under strong willed fighters that just wont go away. I think frazier breaks iron mike's will around rd.8 and finishes him between 11 and 12. What do u guys think? I've always said that Mike Tyson, on his best day, could've beaten any heavyweight that ever lived. "Smokin' Joe," much as I admire the man, wasn't good enough at his best to beat prime Tyson. As they say, styles make fights; Frazier's small stature and aggressive style would've made him the target of repeated Tyson bombs. Joe was clubbed into submission by the relatively slow Foreman. Tyson would've made the end come sooner and more cleanly. You bring up a good point about Tyson "wilting under strong-willed fighters." In a prolonged battle, Frazier would have the upper-hand. But I don't think a fight between these two would last long enough for "Smokin' Joe's" superior will to come into play.
