People are talking about Peterson's chances against Khan but how would he do if he was against Marcos Maidana?.
I got Maidana by stoppage.
I think Peterson would outbox Maidana on the outside, probably keep the in-fighting to a minimum unless he was smothering Maidana's punches.
Lamont's becoming the loser in every fantasy match-up.
Everyone underestimates him.
He'll have to earn his respect the old fashion way and beat a few big names.
It's the Bradley effect. People hate Bradley, see that Peterson lost to Bradley, and call Peterson a bum.
Peterson would win a Decision, he is too good of a boxer, he isn't a huge puncher, but he can pick a fighter with a lousy defense apart. Lamont wins on points...
I watched to fight again this morning. Ortiz had a huge lead and blew it. I scored it 95-93 Peterson. Ortiz only won round 1,3, and 10. The 2nd round could have gone either way because no one really did anything, but Peterson's jab won that round for me. All the other rounds Lamont was effectively countering and working Ortiz's body. Nothing shady went down it was a poor performance by Ortiz. Ortiz had a 9lb size advantage and Peterson felt it in the 3rd round. But the fact of the matter is Peterson out boxed Ortiz and worked his way back into the fight.
U's must be's black or blind
I don't think Maidana will be smart enough to beat Peterson, but if he catches him, maybe he has a chance. I'd side with Peterson though, Maidana having a hard time with Morales really showed he isn't as great as he's made out to be.
Lamont Peterson lost the biggest fights he has had. He lost to Bradley badly and he was beaten by Ortiz. That was not a draw, he was lucky they gave him a draw. He fought back from those knock-downs but there's no way he won that fight or even drew.
I think the judges were either impressed by his will to keep fighting or something shady went down. I'd like to think the judges were impressed by his will and thats why he got a draw.

Peterson can't handle Pressure fighters that's why Ortiz floored him twice if Ortiz continued the Pressure that fight dosn't go past 5 rounds. Madiana would ko Peterson in 4 or less rounds
Maidana has the power to stop Peterson no doubt. But Maidana has shown he can be outboxed pretty easily. If Peterson can stick to his game plan and not get dragged into Maidana's fight he could get the UD easily. But that is a big if.
even though maidana is busy with guerrero (who i think guerrero will win) if maidana catches him a couple times, he can stop it imo. peterson is good, but not that good, it'd be a tough fight
Does any1 else think peterson is a small light ww? He looked tiny compared to victor ortiz. Maidana is a big lww and would literally walk through peterson who doesn't have power or speed. Really bad matchup for peterson, he should keep clear from maidana.
Bailey could be a very dangerous fight for Maidana tho..And might take something away from him win or lose..
Yeah Bailey is a monster puncher so yeah it would be a real dangerous fight but its a fan friendly fight that's for damn sure.
It's one of those fights that would be crazy for ever long it lasts, the fight won't happen though anyway LOL.
Well IMO he would beat Jan Zaveck and Senchenko who are 2 of the belt holders, but i would have him in with Randall Bailey ha that would be a fun fight.
Berto would be a good fight as well.

got damn, get this dude out of buenos aires!!!
LOL yeah there's too much temptation for Chino in Argentina, they have incredible steaks. De la hoya put on a BBQ in buenos aires after the Khan fight.
Peterson by decision. Maidana would punish him early, but I think he'd adjust and outbox him. Maidana's poor stamina will be his downfall.
That's what I'm looking at also, Maidana's poor stamina + Lamont's body attack is already a disaster for Marcos. Lamont is also the better inside fighter and getting in on Maidana isn't even something that needs to be worked on, he's easy to get to.
Maidana's slow wide looping punches aren't gonna be landing or landing clean enough to cause damage, Peterson will stand in front of him and break Maidana down to the body. Maidana's stamina as it is isn't good enough.
Not once did I ever think Maidana could beat Peterson, I still stand by that. Not only do I think Lamont wins, I think he wins wide.
