If such a fight can be made between Rios and Gesta for the undercard fight of Pacquiao/Marquez, will the Mexican fans abandon Rios as an over-hyped fighter that lost to a supposed "bum" in Gesta? Thoughts. :la:
i don know did filippinos abandon all their hypejob prospects once they got beaten by a mexican? for example: bautista, jaca, mayol, suico, mepranum, casimiero, banal, melligen, lumacad, concepcion, condes, daupdong, cuello , farenas? will gesta be added to thhis list of pinoy prospects being defeated by mexicans?
you never answered this question for me............
It's pretty petty for someone to abandon a fighter because they lost to someone...it's actually pretty lame because upsets happen all the time...I'd see why someone would abandon someone for their actions in life not losing to a fighter.
I don't get it. Are mexicans denying jmm, morales, barrera, margarito?
Mexican fans are very loyal.
I've seen lots of filipino fans turn their back on donaire when there was turmoil with top-rank and to a certain degree pac.
what dis guy said

They will deny that he is mexican
Why do Filipinos hype EVERY up-and-coming Pinoy fighter???? Why? What the hell has Gesta done in the ring besides trying to call out a Top-Dog-Rios? I hope Arum makes this happen... please... make it happen.
BTW, WTF happened to Bautista? Wasn't this kid... including Melligen supposed to be the next big thing? Just a question.
yes...young fighters should not be immediately thrown in with the biggies....
sad thing this did happen with bautista and co.....lack of preparation and seasoning...
i might be wrong but the fighters' handlers may have been too much in a hurry to cash in...
as to the thread.. i don't think mexican fans or even pinoy fans abandon their fighters when they lost....
easyly, mab, erik, jmm and even pac fans are still at it...
even boom boom, to a lesser extent still retain his fan base

He fought last month to redeem his first lost. Fight got stopped do to clashes of heads and it went to the cards. I saw Ruiz winning the match(as the crowd), but Bautista won...lol he got booed off stage by his own people and in his own country :( . The hype comes from the high hopes Manny set due to his accomplishments in the sport..that, and i noticed since living in the Philippines that the media and people really rally behind whoever made it out there. So no matter how shtty a fighter, soccer player,singer,etc...is, they show support and hold them in high regard ._.

Not everyone can be a "Super Star" fighter. JAT
Who's cheerleading? If I were to do that, I'll make absolutely sure you'll know it.
I really would like to see a Gesta/Rios battle soon. Wouldn't you?
No...Gesta should move up slower than what people think. He might be good but who knows how much skill he really has against legit opposition. He should stop fighting journeyman and focus on stronger rivals before going in their with Rios. IDC how good he looks against guys with 10 + losses...Rios is another monster. He wont stop coming straight forward. It's like fighting a wall that hits back. Y que chinge su madre el que opine diferente :)
Oh boy, the Filipino Cheerleading Squad. The guy hasn't done **** and you're already Stanning him.

No because he brings it every time.
Dude gets hit in the nutsack every time out and keeps fighting through it. No shame in losing in boxing. It happens. BTW Rios put away, in Acosta, a highly underrated boxer and puncher. "Over-hyped" is used too often and at time used or labeled improperly. Nobody is over hyping Rios (other than Arum as is his job). Rios has simply been doing his job by thus far proving himself and bringing excitement fight after fight. And fans appreciate it. A loss would not be the end of the world
Fair enough. Rios is good but his arrogance could be toned down. It get's annoying.

This is like asking, would you stop being a Pacquiao fan if he ever were to fight Senchenko and loses? Of course not. Why? Because there's just no way that would happen. :bottle:
Also Gesta is no bum, he's an untested prospect with miles to cover before he challenges the big dogs in the division.
