There are many words used to describe Floyd Mayweather, arrogant, brash, cocky, nasty, controlling, brilliant and talented being just some of them. Mayweather is a famous and controversial figure in boxing today, his outside of the ring antics almost always seem to draw attention to him in the negative, his in ring talents displayed to sparingly in recent years to satisfy our thirst for the brilliance he brings.
However one thing Mayweather most certainly isn’t, is a drug cheat.
Performance enhancing drug’s have no place in any sport and especially not in boxing. In boxing a man might be killed in the ring, he will certainly be maimed numerous times throughout his career and just escaping with all faculties in tact is cause enough for celebration. So the playing field must be as even as a fighters talent allows.
Mayweather seems to know this, no doubt his talent is greater than most and on the list of all boxers ever to have graced the ring he has to be up there, on talent. So when he draws attention to the possibility (rightly or wrongly as it may be in his accusations) of PED use in the sport of boxing, surely he is pushing the sport forward?
Now it is not to say Floyd Mayweather gets to decide the drug testing policy in his sport simply because he is its premier talent and prizefighter, but in the most physical of sport’s where bodies and lives are on the line, why isn’t there Olympic style drug testing? Mosley has done it in order to get Floyd in the ring, Ortiz will do the same. World Championship fights always generate interest and money and the incentives are such that a fighter or a training crew may slip over the edge of reason to gie their fighter the edge. And so, doesn’t Mayweather make a good point?
You can question the way he points the finger, you can say that Mayweather wants it all on his own terms, but in regards to drug use in the sport, is Mayweather pushing the sport forward, even if it is by one allegation at a time?
If you want to be taken seriously as a writer, FFS use spellcheck!!!
I'm sorry, but if you want to catch dopers, they need to be tested on their off-season (in this case, the year or so between Floyd's fights). Until that is implemented, even with OST for a few weeks before a fight, a fighter isn't proven clean.
Cheers mate, i think people forget on here that there are people who are not Floyd lovers and pac haters or vice versa, just posing the question and to be honest i wont have my grammar teased on a boxing forum like that chap earlier, i mean really! On a boxing forum hahaha. My grammar is fine
Player, you do your thing young man. Sure it wasn't the best written article - the backhanded compliment to PBF was executed just a little too clumsily but you're making your point so it's awright. Try not to lose heart on account of those like Medved who talks about spelling and grammar errors when he doesn't know how to use a question mark or the difference between an apostle and an apostrophe!
Nobody is going to read your crap because
1) Spelling and Grammar is that of a 4th grader
2) You cant afford $4.99 for a domain name?
