Did Tyson wear built up shoes to protect his chin?. If you look at his boxing shoes . They had a very big heel in them . Could the cushioning in them have helped him absorb the heavy punches he took from Ruddock and Lewis?.
ofcourse it did. ever notice how he didnt wear socks? thats to increase his handspeed, and his haircut allowed him to get in touch with the spirit of joe louis for some quick pointers between rounds.
naw, that haircut was all about channeling Dempsey's spirit

tyson knew some stuff about footwork..
i remember him PURPOSELY sliding to deck someone..i mean literally sliding
SORRY for the horrible example but something like this:
but tyson did it with one foot only..
Okay maybe his platform shoes didnt protect his chin . But he did wear platform shoes. His shoes had a very thick heal on them which gave him 2 inches in height.
why the **** would that protect his chin ya dumb ****? If anything by making him taller it exposes his chin even more to the taller fighters he fought (which is everyone).
If anything that only adds height to him and makes him more readily able to reach the chins of his opponents so he can knock them out.

if Fight Night Round 2 has taught us anything, it's that wearing expensive trunks will improve your power punching power and expensive shoes improve your punching speed.
So no, the shoes helped Tyson improve his punching speed. :drillserg
