The myth that Floyd doesnt like Southpaws is ridiculous, where is the proof he struggles with lefties? In this boxing game its always about trying to find a style that can beat Floyd, I remember Floyd supposedly didn't like come forward brawlers who would walk through his shots and ruff him up. I guess since the Castillo rematch Floyd has dispelled that theory. Here is the fact, Floyd has defeated every southpaw he's faced convincingly. Lets look at what Pac "doesn't like".....if Floyd supposedly doesn't like Southpaws then Pac clearly doesn't like defensive counterpunchers with pure boxing (slick) skills.
We know for a fact that Pac struggles vs guys who opt to box, counterpunch and play a lil defense. (JMM, Morales and even Shane and Clottey befuddled his performance) So if I'm a betting man I'd bet on Fact over Myth.
Advantage Mayweather

floyd isn't a defensive counter puncher with slick skills when he fights southpaws though. do you even watch the fights? why is floyd suddenly going to do something he's never been able to do before against his most dangerous opponent? not very realistic but then again you don't like reality.
here copy paste this so you can save time when posting.
fact: floyd mayweather has no weaknesses.
fact: manny pacquiao is a bum and can't box.
Damn Floyd's so good that people look for a couple of punches his entire career to say he doesnt like southpaws.
the man beat all four of them and Ortiz will be the fifth. Floyd has no problem with southpaws.
it's not a couple of punches. it's the way he completely changes his style when he fights them. you can see in the corley, judah, and spadafora footage when he waits he gets hit. he's not able to rely on his biggest strength which is his defense so he looks to get off first and take the play away from his opponent. if he was able to fight a safety first style against southpaws he would have done it by now. keep waiting for him to turn into marquez. it's never gonna happen.

I think the awkwardness of a southpaw makes him take a more defensive approach as was the case with Judah... He tends to take a little longer to come out of his shell offensively when he fights paws while he is trying to feel them out. That being said, his accurate punching and superb defense pays its dividends in the end.
Im lost. The guy has literally dominated EVERY left hander hes ever faced.
NSB sucks.
You are right but he recieved more punches from southpaw opponents than right handed opponent.
The boxing world is so concerned with finding an opponent to crack Floyd's armor, well what happens when Floyd cracks the opponents armor? He will figure out the southpaw before they figure him out, believe that!
Floyd needs to take his ultimate test against Pacquaio.

by whos standards? his? hes handily beat every southpaw hes fought but sanders. ur trying too hard to sound earth shattering. he gets hit more, big whoops. if thats struggling what does that say about floyd?
yes by his standards. what other standards would you use? eric crumbles? yes compared to crumble he's the greatest vs southpaws.
floyd was hit with a lot more punches than usual and he was hurt a couple times vs corley
floyd was hit with a lot more punches than usual and hurt a couple times vs judah
floyd was hit with an above average amount of punches against mitchell
floyd struggled with some bum named reggie sanders in his 2nd pro fight
floyd got tuned up in sparring against paul spadafora
floyd's own dad and the man who taught him his style told him to stay away from southpaws
almost every time he's mixed with a southpaw he's looked sub par. a smart person or even someone of average intellect would look at this evidence and say yeah he struggles against southpaws.
a flomo would say "still undefeated! floyd cannot be beat! he has no weaknesses!"

Is Mosley a southpaw?
:?!:
If Mayweather senses that he can step on the gas without any problems, then he will. he is a professional boxer, after all.
Changing to a different style because your old one wasnt working too well and going on the offense because your opponent is old and exhausted are obviously not the same thing.
stop being such an idiot.
And this is why Oscar put his Jab Away:
BODY SHOTS! That was making Oscar extremely uncomfortable, Oscar weakness always been BODY SHOTS, HE HATES THEM! And if you land a few on him it really can change the way he fights.
Excellent!
.
Judah to me as of recent has been the one the land the most consistently through 4-5 rounds against Floyd due to his quickness and southpaw stance. Floyd can't really use the shoulder roll to his favor against a southpaw, so a lot of times he'll have the high guard. When he did that with Judah, Judah was able to land straight body shots down the middle and landed some fast lead lefts and right hooks (which managed to technically drop Floyd). The speed factor was in Zab's favor, but Floyd eventually timed him and got the better of Judah. To give Floyd credit, he knows how to keep his composure during difficult times which inevitably works to his favor.
Now, most will look at this and say "Well if Floyd did this to Judah, Manny's no problem". Unfortunately for those who believe that, Pacquiao and Judah, though both fight from a southpaw stance, present different problems. While both Judah and Pac are speed fighters, Pacquiao is the more aggressive, busier, probably a smarter fighter at this point along with having consistent power throughout the fight along with having amazing stamina. You also have to question whether or not Mayweather is able to take Manny's will away from him as he's done with other boxers and likewise with Pacquiao to Mayweather.
If and when Floyd does fight Pacquiao, throw out the notion of the skills because we know what Floyd can do. The question really is whether Floyd is still the same Floyd or is losing even a fraction of his speed and instincts which against Pacquiao can mean a long night for Floyd. The Ortiz fight to me (though not Floyd's toughest fight) is going to show where Floyd physically is at in his career.
agreed.........you have hit it all objectively dead center............
cheers
:haha:
]I find this funny that whenever someone speaks on the Mayweather-De La Hoya fight they always revert back to the token....."Oscar would have won if he kep throwing the jab AFTER the 6th round":Flush:..........well boys & girls I am here to end all of that madness and lame message board rhetoric
Surprisingly, Floyd had the edge in jabs landed 69-40, throwing 240 to Oscar’s 246. :dunno:
Oscar landed just 4 of 77 jabs in rounds 10-12, after landing 31 out of 124 jabs in rounds 6-9.....lol
Lets to the math....124+77= 201.....so after the 6th round...Oscar threw 201 Jabs.....he threw 45 jabs in the first 5 rounds......
So TRUTH BE TOLD Oscar actually threw MORE Jabs after the 6th round than he did before the 6th round....lol...
Thats all folks!

whats up with the myth that mayweather has trouble with southpaws?:thinkerg:

i sincerely hope this isn't all freddie roach has to go off of to prepare manny pacquiao for floyd mayweather:bigeyes:
:lol1:
good stuff!!!
I call Myth. Two times in his career he's come close to losing and one came against an orthodox pressure fighter(JLC I) and the other came against an orthodox boxer with a great jab(ODLH).
