I know why floyd don't get respect from Pacquiao fans. Mayweather has Mostly fought Rusty fighters ( And Now Green as Grass Prospects like Victor Ortiz ). He rarely fought a Prime fighter.
Lets make lists:
Prospects: Victor Ortiz
Prime Fighters: Ricky Hatton, Zab Judah, Diego Corrales
A Little Bit Past Prime: Juan Manuel Marquez,
Rusty and out of prime fighters: Arturo Gatti, Sugar Shane Mosley, Oscar De La Hoya
This is why he needs Pacquiao on his resume. He fights to many out of prime fighters. He needs Pac on his resume to prove that he will fight a good fighter around their prime. It is known to me that Floyd is great. The question is that is he the BEST. Until he fights Pacquiao, That is uncertain.

i don't buy these kind of linear logic.....
for one, there are durans, foremans, bhop, etc., who showed being old does not hinder one for reaching up for more glories.....with age and more bouts come experience...although some will point justifiably to health considerations of the old ones....
secondly, i do not subscribe to the "left-over" syndrome.....
a bunch of fighters may well have a round-robin affair the likes between srl, hagler, duran and hearns....
the styles make fights i do understand as a fighter's style may pose problems to the other..
rusty......this is very difficult to explain....as it is subjective and depends on what caused the rustiness....long lay-offs? too few bouts??? and what the fighter did in between
2 wins since he lost to pacman
only 2 losses in his career- looking to avenge one of them when he fights margarito again
he may never beat pacman but he could beat PBF
even first few rounds against pacman were close
cotto is an ATG- hence ducker wont go anywhere near him
cotto is a bum he is flat footed his style is tailor made for may no head movement slow footwork is non existent doesnt stick to a game plan mayweather by unanimous demolition
Ortiz is not a prospect, he is a former world title challenger and now world title holder. He is, however, not as good as goldenboy are trying to tell us he is. His defense is shocking, and he is going to get picked apart and toyed with for however long this fight lasts.
you have Ortiz as your avi. Mayweather is going to fuk him in the ass so what's worse, a person who is gay for Mayweather or a person who is gay for Mayweather's little *****?
Do you not understand sarcasm?
I thought when he said "apparently" he made it clear that it was in jest.
He knows and most posters on here know that I'm not a Floyd fan. And, that Pac is my favorite active fighter.
And, because anybody who says anything positive about Floyd gets labeled a "flomo". The joke was that I was one too...
And, Mannie Phresh is actually a pretty big Mayweather fan.
So what is your issue?
apparently your a flomo lol.

If he stayed in retirement people would be complaining. Whoever he fights people are complaining.
what this guy said. You guys act like Pac doesn't take easy fights. Mayweather is going to walk all over Ortiz as well
This is almost too funny. Who makes an argument like this? I guess this is why I don't post on Boxing Scene much. You need to have your facts or you'll just walk into your own trap. You just **** on two fighters while trying to bash one and praise the other in the process. But this is what you call a failure.
I know, this dude best be trolling for the sake of pactards everywhere.

2 wins since he lost to pacman
against...
1. Yuri Foreman with one knee
and
2. Ricardo Mayorga??....talk about a guy sliding nicely into your "rusty and past prime" category....
COME ON MAN!
only 2 losses in his career- looking to avenge one of them when he fights margarito again against a "Rusty past prime" Margarito....
do you see how your original argument destroyed itself now??...(of course you don't lol)
Ortiz is not green or a prospect.
He's in his prime right now. He may not be on Floyd level. But, he will never be on Floyd level.
A mentally weak and maybe getting overhyped a little now he might be. But, a green prospect he's not. He has tools and skills, he might not have the mind set to put it together on a consistent basis. He's the best possible fight that can be made at WW that doesn't involve Pac.
Can't knock Floyd on this choice at all.
Can't know him for the Mosley fight at all either.
Now the ones before that...Sure.

Cotto can not beat Mayweather...C'mon lets be real.
And, no Cotto is not an ATG, that's laughable...The man is barely a borderline HOF'er.

I've been critical of Floyd's cherry-pickng in the past.
But I have no problem with Victor Ortiz as an opponent for him.
Ortiz is coming into his prime now, and unlike most of Floyd's previous smaller opponents like JMM and Hatton, Ortiz is the same size as Floyd.
I'm looking forward to the fight and hoping for an upset! :boxing:
Me too. Ortiz needs some luck though, Pacquiao is at his level. Ortiz isn't yet.
pacman beat cotto and margarito
both of those, especially cotto could beat PBF
giving sugar shane a payday made him look even worse
especially when the old man almost knocked his head off
Cotto - AFTER he was DEMOLISHED by Margarito and has never been quite the same since
Margarito - AFTER he was DEMOLISHED by "old man" Sugar Shane

Ortiz isnt green as grass where does that come from? This is clearly just a hate thread and since you brought up Pacquiao and i see hes your favorite fighter i have to ask if Mosley and De La Hoya were past prime when Mayweather fought them, do yo consider them good wins for Pacquiao? Remember Mayweather beat them first. What about Hatton? Mayweather took his undefeated record before Pacquiao ran into him. As far as Marquez goes if you say he was a little past prime when Mayweather got him, what is he now that Pacquiao is fighting him more than 2 years later. I know you were just trying to discredit Mayweather with this but when you think about what you said you are actually taking some of the shine off Mannys wins too by downplaying his opponents.
your own logic just killed Pac Man's resume...
what does it say about Pac if he fought two of the guys (DLH, SSM) you listed as "rusty out of prime fighters" AFTER Mayweather beat them....then he fought one of the "prime" guys (Hatton) Mayweather beat after he became a "rusty our of prime" fighter.
Now he is going to fight JMM...who according to you was "A Little Bit Past Prime" two years ago...meaning he is at the very least rustier and a little more past prime...if not full fledged "Rusty Past Prime."
this is the beauty of the nuthugger/hater...they are so idiotic that they make arguments against the guy they hate that make their own fighter look WORSE!
