Yes. Because The Ring Magazine doesn't go with sanctioning fees, neither fighter has to pay for the championship. Because of that, any fight that the champion is in is a championship bout. The WBA and the rest of the alphabet boys don't matter at that point.
This will also be the case when Andre Ward and Carl Froch meet up to determine just the second Super Middleweight champion in Ring Magazine history. Going to be a fun time.
Incorrect, the ring magazine belt is only up for grabs when the top 2 fighters in each division square off, sometimes there's an exception if no.1 and no.3 fight. That's why the term "Lineal" is always associated with the ring belt
Wrong. The Ring is on the line every time the holder of the belt fights. Wladimir Klitschko is the Ring champ, therefore when he fights that belt is on the table.
You're getting confused with when there is no Ring champ because someone moved in weight or retired. In that case the Ring belt is awarded to a new champion when the top rated and second rated in the division fight. Sometimes it is awarded when the number one and number three fight if circumstances seem to preclude a fight between the top two. In this case even if Wlad was not the Ring champ it would probably still be on the line as the Ring rates Haye third, and second would be held by Vitali whom Wlad is never going to fight.
i don't understand why the ibo is in the mix , who gives a sh*t about that shi**y belt ? why do fighters keep supporting these organizations by paying them their money ? i don't get it
I have more time for the IBO these days than the WBA's shítty multi-champion system.
Then he is wrong, look up the ring magazine belt and you'll see what I mean.
Tonights fight, the ring belt will be on the line because vlad is the ring champ and Haye is 3rd in the rankings(exception clause exploited due to the 2nd ranked fighter being vitali who will never fight vlad because they're bro's)
But say the ring champ, any division would take a relatively easy fight and fight someone outside the top 3 or below then the ring wouldn't recognize the fight as "being up for grabs"
THEREFORE THE RING BELT IS NOT UP FOR GRABS EVERYTIME THE RING CHAMP FIGHTS, ONLY IF THE CHAMP IS FIGHTING THE NUMBER 2 RANKED FIGHTER OR IN SOME CASES(tonight) THE NUMBER 3 RANKED
Sorry mate, you have got this spectacularly wrong.
And this article posted on the ring website stated as follows as well:
But Saturday night Klitschko will risk his RING, IBF and WBO titles in a unification match against what outwardly at least appears to be a dangerous opponent, WBA titleholder and former cruiserweight champion David Haye.

Although Wiki data are occasionally not totally accurate, but this is what is stated there:
There are currently only two ways that a boxer can win The Ring's title: defeat the reigning champion; or win a box-off between the magazine's number-one and number-two rated contenders (or, sometimes, number-one and number-three rated). A vacant Ring championship is filled when the number-one contender in a weight-division battles the number-two contender or the number-three contender (in cases where The Ring determines that the number-two and number-three contenders are close in abilities and records).

NO , that's how you win a vacant ring belt , not how you defend it
joe calzaghe was not even a ranked light heavyweight when he took the title from hopkins
by " the champ " he meant the ring magazine champ , in this case it's wlad, everytime the ring magazine champion fights, his title is on the line . that's what he said

He said the title is on the line everytime the champion fights, this isn't true. If vlad was fighting audley Harrison then the ring belt wouldn't be up for grabs due to audley being ranked so low, In the unlikely event that the low ranked fighter actually winning then the ring belt would just become vacant.
So........
The belt is NOT up for grabs everytime the champ fights, which is what I was saying in the original post

wTF ?
wlad is already the champion , that's why the title is on the line , and that's what he meant
Yes, the title is up for every fight the champion is in.
