I'm a little ashamed as a boxing fan that I've not actually seen a Nonito Donaire fight. He's ranked highly in every respected pound for pound list so I really should have checked him out by now. Which of his fights do you guys reckon I should check out?
who is a natural bantam?? none of those guys are natural bantams you think anyone of those guys walk around 118 pounds between fights? lol nope not a single one.
If Donaire goes up in weight, he'll still look solid, his height and frame is fit for higher weights... Something tells me if Darchinyan or Montiel were to go up to '26, they'd look as bloated as JMM did going up to '44. Also, Darchinyan has gone up from '12 to '18 and he hasn't been running through his opposition with the KO power that he had at '12.
not to mention Montiel weighed more than donaire in the ring
he went from discrediting all of pac's wins to discrediting all of nonito's wins.
do you notice the pattern?
Donaire really impresses me in the ring. He should schedule a fight right now! It wouldn't even have to be a big fight, but he needs to keep his name in the spotlight.
That's because Nonito isn't a natural bantam like the other dudes. He is really a featherweight but cuts so much.
Gambo-Donaire. That would be a FOTY candidate.
Oh yeah, definitely. He's no different than all the other greats that would shrink themselves down in weight to conquer. Most of them fall off, though, as they rise in weight because they don't carry the power with them and don't nearly possess the boxing skills that they need in order to beat naturally bigger foes.
For the record, I do believe that Donaire posseses great boxing ability, but I doubt he'll be able to take a flush shot from a Gamboa, or any legit featherweight, undeterred. Which is why I believe we'll truly see him shine at the higher weights because he'll be sharper and his true boxing ability will see through.
Speed, fluidity, power, timing, great variety - he's the best pure puncher in the sport. In all honesty, there isn't anyone that can touch him in the division - he's that good.Only criticism that I have of him is that he tends to switch stances when it's not needed.I don't know what it is,but he seems to think that he's actually effective as a southpaw, and it's clear that he obviously isn't that effective as one.I have no idea why he still does it.
Watch as many of his fights as you can to gain a full understanding and appreciation of him as a fighter. His performance against Raul Martinez was another excellent performance from him - with an absolute peach of an uppercut that ended it.
his father treated him like ****....he didn't want that in his life...
whats so wrong about it?
i guess a lot of people are supposed to be blind to that type relationship.
that you HAVE to say yes and you HAVE to love people, even though they treat you like ****..
i for one agree with Nonito
Rather see him go up to '22... maybe even '26, nobody's touching him at or around bantam. Not taking away from him, because he has amazing boxing ability, but he has absolutely nothing to worry about in his current weight division. He's been hit with clean, flush shots by Darchinyan and Montiel and he just eats 'em and keeps bringing the pain.

lol, Montiel was the champion at that time. Albeit he really did just get lucky with Hozumi. 9/10 times Montiel loses to Hozumi.
Anyways, he will most likely end up fighting the winner of the bantamweight tournament. Which, unless it's Vic, he will have a tough match up. I would really like to see him fight yonnhy perez though.

Haven't seen many fights of him either. After that KO against Montiel, I planned on watching some of his previous fights untill I heard about how he has treated his parents.
I can never respect a guy who turns his back against his own family just because of a woman.

he loves fighting smaller men, dont bother watching a fraud
Haha, butthurt Mexican still mad at the Montiel fight, lol. :lol1:
the vic and montiel fight....boy got a mean right hook
I think you mean the left hook. That's the punch that put both of those men down.
Check out his fights with Vic Darchinyan, Wlad Sidorenko (not sure on the spelling), and Fernando Montiel.
And yes, as a boxing fan you should be ashamed you've never watched a Nonito Donaire fight. :D
