Simple question guys.
Considering Pac pretty much took these guys punches and didn't flinch. Do you think Floyd has the power to counter Pac and keep him off him? or will he do what Shane did and end up running all night long? Demarcus Corley seems to think this is the reason Floyd won't fight Pac.
I doubt it. Manny only knows how to fight one way. Even if Floyd's punches really hurt, he would still come in chin up, guard down, hands flying.
And you know I am all for Floyd but Manny just doesn't care really. Marquez almost dropped him and Manny still stood there guard down, chin up, hands flying.
Yeah, that's the way i see it as well. That's his style, and it has worked great for him throughout his career. I just don't see how he can beat Floyd other than KO him or win on activity alone.
Floyd doesn't hit like others but he is definitely better.
maybe.....but being better stops when you get hit really hard...when the knees start to buckle.....when the head goes cloudy...then it will be over...soon
I disagree. If Margarito wasn't such an inaccurate sloppy puncher, he'd much more dangerous than how he is portrait to be, but he still hit harder than Floyd. Nonetheless, Floyd has enough pop in his punches to make Manny fight patiently.

No.
And he has proven that he doesn't have to punch hard to win. You can walk through all of his punches but if you can't touch him, you lose. :dunno:
I agree with this. They are accurate and have sting to them. Mosley could not walk through them. I do believe he hits harder than Marg. Marg biggest thing is the relentless pressure and his volume punching.

I love how people think crisp accurate punches won't deter someone. Those punches will act as a deterrent when you are missing. It is easier to deal with punches when you are landing 3 and 4 punches in return, essentially it is a beneficial trade. When you're getting pot shotted and countered it is demoralising.

i think he has enough pop to get the attention from pac. thats enough to keep him from pulling the trigger against floyd so he doesnt get countered
this agreable ... nice post bro :boxing:
Pacman has proven in his past fights that he can take the punch of his taller and heavier opponents who's KO percentage are higher than Floydie!
Of course Floydie can hit Pacman, but the problem is, once Pacman uncork those combos with lightning speed, then Floydie will get shot! ask Mosley about it...
Doesnt hit as hard as those guys, but he hits hard enough to send Hatton face-first into the corner
Anyway, I'll just echo what everybody else said, it doesnt factor too big in the fight with Ortiz or a potential fight with Pacquiao
I want to see Pac attack Floyd's body and pretty much ignore all the punishment upstairs. Floyd doesn't have lights out power so there's nothing to worry about.
Floyd's body looks vulnerable to me. Most people tend to go head hunting for Floyd and hit air. Pac has the speed and stamina for a 12 rd body attack to slow and deter some of Mayweather's own offense/defense.
i am sure other guys try to use that strategy, the problem is floyd is a moving target no EZ to hit but he sure can hit you mayweather will be the bigger better man that night
I do agree that accurate punches can throw you off your game but it'll be interesting if Pac will eat those and throws his power shots at the same time for the first few rounds. Be interesting to see how Floyd takes those shots too and if it puts him off his game. A few hard punches from pac can daze you and you won't be throwing such accurate well timed counters all night long.
floyd will fight a range if manny want to hit floyd he will need to walk in
and that is the best way to be hit by floyd
No Floyd doesn't have as much 1 punch power as those 3.But he has more power than Marquez who has sliced the Pacman punch output in half in their fights.Floyd also moves better than Mosley who managed to survive while being shot.Compairing Floyd's power to those 3 doesn't really make it valid.A better comparison would be Marquez.Only Floyd is bigger, stronger, faster,a better counter puncher, has the better chin & is just better period. Can Floyd mimick Marquez when he fights Pacman & use what the smaller Marquez did,but do it better, because he's bigger & get the "W" that eluded Marquez twice??
Punches that hurt the most are those that are unexpected, that is what floyd is good at, other guys are throwing punches, not expecting to be countered but floyd always seems to be in a position to either land his first or dodge them and land his
thats what floyd is best at imo people expect to get hit a lot vs pac, he throws so many and is a pure offensive machine with his combinations and angles but still the accumulation of punches kills them when they fight pac
floyd does seem to get the guys he fight tired though, making them miss and landing his own
it will certainly be an interesting fight, i know floyd wont hurt pac, i think pac will win via decision, his activity alone will win him majority of the rounds

Manny Pacquiao: Total punches landed/thrown against Marquez/Diaz/Oscar/Hatton/Cotto/Clottey/Margarito/Mosley
Landed:1,964
Thrown: 5,926
I don't think even Paul Williams has threw that many punches in his last eight fights. Pacquiao is an all-around offensive beast.
Accuracy and Misses seem to deter opponents from throwing as much against FLOYD. His accuracy and his opponents accuracy should be detailed in every fight that he has fought and then you will be able to understand why he doesnt have to have the most pop just keep you honest. I think PAC has more problems with punches that he doesnt see coming than a guy who is slow and has thunder in his fist. Marquez had Pac doing the stanky leg and im quite sure he doesnt punch harder than Mayweather.
Movement and a tight defense will keep you from getting smoothered if you apply your craft have great stamina and know how to let your opponent throw his load and then counter in between. Jab is the most effective tool and it throws off your opponents timing of his own offense if he is getting tagged on the way in.
PAC has become a two fisted fighter but his money punch is the straight left. Usually guys let him throw two and three punches and sometimes more with no return fire. If you throw one and take one and the guy moves then this offensive juggernaut has to reset eventhough he jumos in and out from weird angles.
Pressure- I have never seen Pac adjust against pure pressure from a fast fighter who will stay in the pocket but also grab if he gets hit with a good shot. fLOYD NEVER GETS DISCOURAGED IF HE HITS AN OPPONENT AND THEY DONT FALL BECAUSE HE NORMALLY WANT SIT DOWN ON HIS PUNCHES ANYWAY. HE believes in the hit and not get hit method. If you can take a couple of his best punches it doent matter because he has more where that came from and im pretty sure it got your attention. We will see whose will breaks first usually thats not Floyd.
