UFC Fight Night 25 is on September 17th, the same as the Floyd fight. I dont follow the UFC enough to know how big the "Fight Night" series is. Im thinking maybe they dont have all the normal big names but it seems like theyve done pretty good ratings in the past. I cant tell if its a PPV series or just on like ****e.
Worst of all though, they said that they may put Rampage Jackson in with Jon Bones Jones the very next week. That could sell pretty big. Floyd's kicked the UFC's butt before but this could hurt him some
It probably won't affect his sales. That PPV is gonna do terribly no matter what they do. This fight will be lucky to do anywhere near Pac-Clottey numbers. Mexicans know that Floyd isn't gonna stand and fight like a man against Ortiz. And the head of GBP is a cross dressing drug addict in rehab. Whos gonna promote the fight, Shaefer? Lmao hes a f*cking douchebag that doesn't know sh*t about boxing.
If Top Rank was promoting the fight it would be a totally different story.
hilarious sig.. pac trying to look hardcore :D :pat:

all my points that id does more PPV buys than Pac vs Clottey???

Did you here UFC will not renew their contract with ****e TV and they are going buy G4tv?
Bellator will be on ****e.....
UFC wanted 360 million in the contract......
G4 want something similar fr their buy.....
I hope UFC gets run out by another org.... Because Zuffa is killing this sport....
Really? Spike was like UFC 24/7, always something UFC related on that channel at all times of the day. That's huge news. ****e has about 100 million subscribers while G4 only has 60 million and Direct TV dropped it because of a lack of ratings, MMA might take a big hit in terms of viewership/popularity.
Also, Strikeforce will be gone from Showtime soon. Arum aka Darth Sidious, now is the time to strike:
1:31
Time to come through with that Boxing on CBS promise...
Arum said he thinks boxing could return to prime-time network television on CBS this year. But if it happens, it will probably be without Pacquiao because he might be too expensive.
...
If not Pacquiao, Arum said, former world middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik might be a candidate for a CBS bout.
Pavlik, 29, has a compelling life story, as he has battled alcoholism. Arum said he thinks there are enough worthy super middleweight opponents for Pavlik to create a good TV matchup.
"Lucien Bute is a possibility," Arum said. "Andre Ward. Carl Froch. There are lots of good fights for Kelly."

People doubted Mayweather-Marquez, a lot of boxing fans ere hoping it bombed and does only 400-500k.
The fight did 1.1Mill PPVs, same people that were hoping it bombed, said it was because of Marquez that the fight did so well :lol1:
Also, Ortiz is not DLH, but just for your information, Mayweather-DLH went against some big UFC card and we saw how Mayweather/DLH crushed that card.
Mayweather fighting is an event, there are millions of boxing fans, Mayweather-Ortiz is a legit fight, Ortiz drew 1.5 Million viewers on HBO vs Berto, it's a Mexican holiday week=1.6 million+.
All I know is that it's gonna do better than no fanbase having Shane Mosley, which did 1.5 Million PPVs.
fight nights are on basic cable and usually don't include huge names or big fights, they save them for ppvs, so this won't have any effect on anything. plus, mma is a different sport with an entire different fan base. some cross over, but it's like saying a national soccer match will have an effect on the nba finals. some people might like both, but they have huge fanbases for both that'll watch those seperate events.
A UFC PPV with its best fighters hardly would put a dent on any mediocre boxing PPV.
Fight night is free fights with crap fighters on cable tv, most mma fans dont even watch it.
Mayweather vs ortiz is gonna do BIG numbers

i don't think so. The research the networks have done on PPV buys indicate only a 10-15% overlap in audience (i.e. people who watch both).
nope.
Espn or some other sports org did a study and it showed that overwhelmingly, there is no overlap between boxing and mma fans. Basically those who follow boxing aren't mma fans and vice versa. There was like a 10 percent overlap or something around that.
Also, both manny and floyd have done 1 mil buys on a weekend either directly before or after an mma ppv. There was also a big mma ppv a little while before pac-mosley and their prefight show was on at the same time as a fight camp episode. Most media outlets, including espn today, are reporting the fight did between 1.3 and 1.4 mil buys.
No effect.
I rememebr Dana White saying that he would never have a UFC fight on the same night Oscar De la hoya was fighting becuz no1 would buy it. Dana white wouldnt be so stupid to try to do it again lol
I take boxing over UFC anyday but Ill be lying if I said that I didnt want to see Bones vs Rampage though. However, they made that date before Floyd announced his comeback. I could see them changing that Main Event & putting them on a different one but who knows
Jones is a stud, I have watched him for a minute and knew he was going to be something special. I think he will wreck Rampage
I would be very surprised if they did that fight right then and didn't shoot for October to be their big fall show but who knows it is not like their best cards are even that expensive but still they do want their best cards to bring in the most possible money.
