Is Floyd currently the only boxer that is looked at as having the advantage under the same circumstances that any other boxer would have been looked as the underdog/at a disadvantage in the same situation Floyd is in?
Let me make this more clear:
Floyd is in his mid 30s, 10 years older than his next opponent which is the second best at welterweight, and Floyd is coming off a 16 month lay off.
And people see him as the favorite, and as having the advantage.
Floyd came off a 21 month lay off against Marquez, the former Lightweight. Floyd had the size advantage. Okay I can deal with that one, Marquez had the activity on his side, while Floyd had size on his size, although I don't think size matters to be honest.
Mosley came off a 14 month lay off, was 5 years older than Floyd: Floyd had the advantage.
Now Floyd is 34, 10 years older than Ortiz, Ortiz is bigger, more active, Floyd has not fought in 16 months, who has the advantage: Although it's actually Ortiz, some fans say Floyd has the advantage.
I mean, for you to have the advantage under those circumstances, do you know how much of a special fighter do you have to be? You have to be the very best, to still be looked at as the favorite and as having the advantage with all of those important factors against you.
I know this thread will probably not be taken seriously, because I am a known Floyd fan or "flomo", and I just look like a giant nutthugger right now,
But to those neutral guys who do not have an agenda against Floyd, give your take on this. Do you agree that Floyd is basically put on a whole different standard than other fighters?
So its Floyd's fault for being good?
What? The TS's topic about advantages?
He brought up:
Marquez at WW?
Mosley nearly 39 years old + layoff? (Did you see Mora and Manny fight Mosley?)
Then a couple of advantages that Ortiz has then say, "oh, Ortiz should be said to have the advantages not Floyd"
What?
You don't need to be a boxing analyst to know that Floyd has the OVERALL advantage over Ortiz. If you don't see this then what can I say!
As for your comment, "Floyd is too good" .... well, that is where the TS was going with this too .... but like I said above, he brought up Marquez and old Mosley to prove his points .... TOTAL FAIL!
They both have their OWN advantages.
It's not just this guy has the advantage... it depends on what specific advantage you're talking about.
Mayweather has skills, athletics, experience advantages... while Ortiz has activity, momentum, size, and youth advantages.
Marquez at WW?
Mosley nearly 39 years old + layoff? (Did you see Mora and Manny fight Mosley?)
Is this what you are basing things on?
Ortiz gets some advantages but the OVERALL advantage goes to Floyd because of history and experience. Ortiz has looked vulnerable, inconsistent and has lost. Even in his last 2 fights one can still see his flaws and how to go about taking advantage of them.
But are you going to tell us that Floyd doesn't have the OVERALL advantage? Really?
So its Floyd's fault for being good?
Another pampered win for Floyd. No need to discuss advantages and disadvantages in this fight. Ortiz 1 fight at WW and spent most of his career down south. Floyd a WW for the past 5-6 yrs choosing Ortiz, what a shame to real fans especially Floyd fans. Beating a non ranked former light WW does nothing to Floyds legacy NOTHING
Oh yeah I forget Floyd don't care about legacy, just cashing checks conning simple closed minded fans..

2nd ranked WW on the planet is considered a tune up for Floyd. Number 2 p4p considered a tune up for Floyd(it was just a tad more than that not much more though). Sometimes being the best makes it so you never win.
All fights that fans were demanding or all fighters from Top Rank?
Everybody was demanding a Baldomir fight in 2006, you probably weren't around though, so I don't blame you for not knowing. Cotto was at 140 in 2006, the Margarito ducking accusations really came in heavily early 2007. Hatton, DLH @ 154, and Mosley were all legit fights, what are you talking about they were not impressive match ups? If Floyd wouldn't have fought them, people would have said he ducked them. Amazing.
It's not rocket science that Floyd and Bob Arum can't do business together.
Pacquiao vs Cotto @145/Margarito @150/Mosley/Marquez @ 144...Everybody and there mothers were demanding these fights....yeah.
baldomir was a bum, always has been ....i always knew he was too slow , too one diemtional to be anyonye impressive.....only retards thought he was elite.....and no, blaming top rank aint gona cut it....its either you fight them or not.....floyd chose not to, ..putting the blame on the promoters is just insulting the publics intelligence...that stunt aint gonna cut it to adults who think...the fact that he did not fight any of them insted he retired is justice for all times floyd was getting sh1tted on.....it is what it is.....
floyd above 135, has fought no one impressive ....nothing....shane and hoya were good wins but nothing impressive......and he retired twice for the same reason..to duck all fights that fans were demanding ....it's not rocket scinece why he gets criticized more than everyone, he did it to himself.....it's clear to see he is the most guilty when it comes to what is a bad about boxing.......the ortiz fight is good tho!..

Floyd's most BS fights were very few. At 130-135 he fought the best, barring a couple of names.
At 140-147 his resume was a bit off in the earlier times but it didn't help that he was in Shit Rank.
Compare his fights at 140-147 before and after Top Rank. Let's see.
Top Rank 140-147 resume:
!40: WBC Champion Arturo Gatti
Top 10 JWW Demarcus Corley
Henry Bruseles
147:
Sharmba Mitchell
Top 10 WW/IBF WW champion Zab Judah
After Top Rank:
147:
Carlos Baldomir The Ring/Lineal/WBC Champion(First fight after leaving Shit Rank)
De La Hoya WBC Champion @ 154
Former WW Champion/Undefeated Ricky Hatton
Juan Manuel Marquez
Lineal Champion/WBA Champion/#1 WW Shane Mosley
#2 Ranked WW/WBC champion Victor Ortiz
If you don't think there's been a drastic improvement in Floyd's WW resume after leaving Bob Arum, then I don't know what to tell you, because it is very obvious that Bob Arum was the reason why Floyd was not getting the biggest fights. Maybe Manny Pacquiao should follow Floyd and leave the old man, become his own boss, maybe we'll see him take on better opposition.
good post, and maybe manny can make more money... he is the #1p4p but floyd make more money than him????

the reason floyd cant get away from critcs with his BS is coz he has done a lot of BS in the past...from cherrypicking to duckin , floyd is famous for it......same as like when it is known that a person is an ex- con, people would be looking at his way more than they would at regular person who has a clean record.......common sense people, common sense....

Absolutely, everyone was crying about Shane off a long layoff, it didn't even apply to Floyd when he fought Marquez and now Ortiz. Comes with the territory though. This is a great fight.
Of course not.

Well tecnically i have seen him fight if watching highlights of him getting his butt beat by Maidana counts.
WTF then dont post crap if you have not even seen a full fight of Ortiz . stick to sucking Pac cack
The bold is skill, you could have just said skill advantage which I already acknowledged.
The rest are athleticism, except for experience. No need to spread everything in a list to make it look like a lot of advantages.
"Floyd has the skill and athleticism advantages" that's all you had to say.
And I agree, but you are leaving out other important factors, which I already mentioned.
I wonder why floyd fans never mention that he has the wingspan of a heavyweight and that giant reach advantage plays a huge part in him being able to jab and counterpunch and movr so well.
Its also the reason why even as good as his defence is he is still very beatable on the inside and he keeps clear of fast guys like pacquiao who can get past that 1-2 and dudes loke margarito who can cut off the ring and make him work.
