Ann Wolfe said he's a heavyweight and that it was supposed to be 8 rounds sparring and James had just sparred 3 rounds against someone else.
You calling Wolfe a liar?

Kind of. That guy may weigh more than 200 pounds, but its because of his big belly.
People have a high opinion of their opinion and will not hesitate to try to pass it off as fact.
"Kirkland has no chin"... As if the ***** didn't run through Julio, who stopped one of the current titlists.
"Kirkland has no defense"... As if he hasn't held pretty much everyone except for Ishida under a 50% connect rate. His offense and sparse head movement is his defense.
Whatever happened in 27 wins < what happened in his 1 loss. To be expected...
Bold: I have to say...That might be the best, and most truthful line I have read in about a year on this site.
Thats cool. Its not my style I think of sparring as practice, I'm not there to body bag my guy just to work on my own technique.
I wont tap gloves every ten seconds, but if something dumb like me throwing a ridiculous haymaker and missing then falling on the floor and the guy puts his gloves out to make light of the situation I wouldnt respond by popping him twice.
To each his own though.,
I feel you 100%, it's just the Philly gym war scene. Every trainer wants to have a 1 up on the other. SO if we're not getting work in with our teammates, we're going full force.
A lot of times we're not from the same gym, have different trainers, etc. You don't want anyone coming to your gym and 1 upping your fighters - that's the rule we go by here. And when we go to other gyms, we make sure we destroy ****. Yes, it's just sparring.. but as you can see.. fighters gloat about what they do to other fighters in sparring all the time.
that was pretty hardcore... i dont know why all u little fags like to hate on him. he's exciting to watch. too many experts on here critiquing defense as if any of you are experts.

was that guy even getting paid for that?
James came across as a bit of a savage there. Pretty glad he got destroyed by the Japanese fella.
It just seemed like a clubber who was game enough to step in getting destroyed. Poor show.
I'd love to see Kirkland come back stronger than ever but he really needs to work on and improve his defense, in those sparring videos he still just stands and takes the shots head on.

Ahh, the gym wars continue! Couple comments:
Kirkland needs to tighten up his defense. At 00:12, he leads with the straight left but throws it lacksadasically and leaves himself wide open...
What's the deal with the sparring partner sparring barefoot?

I know what you mean. I lived in Philly up until 5 years ago I didnt go to any of the boxing gyms there because I only started when I moved out but we get alot of guys from the city here and they dont **** around.
Fortunately the owner of the gym I go to is cool with just about every trainer in the area so nothing gets too ugly.
lack of respect? you ever box man?
**** that glove touching and respect ****. When the bell rings, do your thing. I've always been told, no touching gloves, no talking, no nodding, no nothing. You hug, kiss, shake hands, pat each other on the ass, do whatever AFTER the work is done.
Kirk did what he is trained to do. REspect no one, be a killer. This is the hurt business, that Shane Mosley glove touch after every clinch has no place in the ring.
The truth has been spoken.

Or because he was taught to never touch gloves, and teach whoever is in teh ring with him the same thing.
I'm told everytime before i spar, if the guy tries to touch my gloves - hit'em. Let him know we mean business from the gate, no respect.

its sparring. The only reason he did that was cause he was embaressed he swung and miss and fell then got chewed out.
