I don't understand why "Vicious" Victor Ortiz is picking on a 34 year old man who hasn't had a fight in sixteen months. Just because he beat one Haymon hypejob, he thinks he can take on another. Pretty Boy Floyd has had all sorts of legal problems that must have affected him and he's rusty. So what does Vic do, he picks on Floyd to fight.
"Vicious" isn't living up to his name and is a businessman coward. Plain and basic common sense
Redundant people mess up a lot and of course irony~
I will think about it as I am going to bed, an English person would be good to ask though because they always complain about our usage of the english language~
I always thought that redundant was a synonym for repetitive, but since you listed it, and that is the way everyone uses it, that's obviously not correct. If you happen to drop by this thread and wouldn't mind explaining that one as well, I'd be appreciative.
And yes, irony is misused more often than it is used correctly probably, and there really is no excuse, as it is common knowledge that it is misused a lot. I wonder how much Alanis Morrissette had to do with the trend to call things that are devoid of irony "ironic."
Also, it's a rarity anymore that I come to BoxingScene and find myself treated to good conversation like I used to when I joined in 2007 when things were better (or maybe I just thought they were better because I was an ignorant n00b, and would likely be classified as a reasonable Flomo by the current member's of the board). Even more rare is finding myself engaged in good conversation that is about something other than boxing. I really do want to thank you for this little discussion about the incorrect deployment of words in the English language. I enjoyed it a lot.
Not even once. The mischievous side of me wants to use it in a paper that I write for a class in the fall semester, specifically for the opportunity to tell the professor to suck it and make them increase my grade (even if the misspelling was not part of the formula that lowered the grade in the first place). Pretty brilliant, eh?
Anyway, are there any other words in the English language that are used incorrectly nearly 100% of the time? This topic interests me a lot, and since this thread wasn't meant to actually promote discussion, I don't feel too badly about highjacking it.

Have you ever actually heard anyone use the word in that way?
It is always associated with violence, now it can be used in that way because committing a violent act is not moral but really violence has nothing to do with it.
One of my many pet peeves with the usage of the English language :damnit1:

Thanks man, so just being a bad person or being immoral in a nonviolent manner. Hmm, that's pretty cool. I'm grateful that you taught me something today, that was actually quite useful.

That pimp on the corner is vicious~
That preacher who has knowledge of little boys is vicious~
That meth dealer that preys on little kids is vicious~
Yea I did, it is the root word of viscosity as vice is to vicious~
I guess I should have been more serious~

This is hysterical. Mayweather fighting the best. Ortiz fighting the best. Yet all Pactards are going in on this fight from every angle (pun intended) to discredit the biggest fight in years.

Errrr...hmm....$$$$.
and hmm...Ortiz could very well lose you know.
So do me a favor, and use vicious in a sentence the correct way, or explain to me how someone would be vicious under the denotative definition.
Also, you spelled viscous, which is descriptive of a liquid having a very thick consistency. It's the a version of the word that you hear on motor oil commercials all the time... viscosity.

Words are just words, people really don't think about proper usage and then people like to cram in words that are kind of close but not really. Then it just becomes accepted usage over time~
Viscous has just always annoyed me that way so I figured I would toss that in~ little did I know I would have to argue about it

Wow... I did not know that at all. That's really interesting, and I'm shocked I learned something in a troll thread made by me and Warp.
It's amazing how many words seem to have a connotation that is totally different from the denotative dictionary meaning in the English language. How is it that people who speak this language just let people get away with using words incorrectly until it becomes the connotative meaning that nearly everyone assigns to it, meaning that the word is used in a different fashion the original intent of it nearly 100% of the time.

This thread is stupid.
You know what else is stupid? You dumbass PR fans who continue to hype your piss poor fighters who all end up grabbing vacant belts (or fight the least threatening titlist in the division to become a "champion")... they all end up taking a knee, or in WV2's case, getting knocked out in a fight at 122 by a shot fighter who was at his best at 108 pounds. Very impressive. Now suck it idiot.

This cat's right dude... you should thank him... I don't know the last time you tried to look a word's definition up in the dictionary (ESPECIALLY on the internet), but it's extremely difficult. Now you get to skip that! Man, thank god for kind people like this guy who really make life that much easier for everyone else.

ha ha ha ha.....brilliant!!!!!!! let us see pbf's fans comment on your view
Yea vice applies to immorality, you can say it means bad or evil but not mainly through immorality not through violence. People use the word improperly all the time so it means other things~
Malicious has to do with malice which specifically is intent to harm, much more applicable~
On top of that LOL for you taking it that seriously, clown

You seriously are getting serious with me in this thread which is obviously not serious.
Think about what you are doing before you come at me again, especially like this~
