Why do people act like Martinez is the first jmw/mw to call out a ww?

Here are some fun facts 1. Martinez claims Manny fights no hopers, yet Sergio was trying to fight Andy Lee, Chavez Jr., and Manfredo 2. Martinez is calling out Manny. Nothing wrong with that but It's kinda funny that he expects Manny to give up 20lbs to him, yet he can't give up 10-12lbs to Lucian Bute, Andre Ward, Carl Froch etc 3. Martinez claims Manny fights fighters who are past it. I'm curious as to if he think Cotto is past it and if so why is he fighting him. I say this because if Margarito and Shane are shot/past their prime...then surely Cotto is as all of those guys are on the same level. 4. Martinez is blasted Manny for taking money fights, but what is Sergio doing by calling out Pacquiao instead of facing Pirog, Sturm or other fighters around his weight class. With that said, I have no issues with him wanting a Pacquiao fight, but I do find alot of his behavior "hypocritical".

of course Martinez wants the big money fights. those fights are some of the biggest fights that can happen in boxing. Pacquiao and Mayweather fans have turned into little defensive *****es lately. that being said, I would like to see Martinez fight some of the top guys at 168 if he cant get those fights.

Manny is the cash cow, any normal individual would expect everyone within 2 weight classes to be calling him out, but you can't make such simplistic statements and not be accurate at least. What big money fights at 167+ would come close to a May/Pac fight at 154? I honestly believe that if the biggest names in boxing were at smw or higher i think Martinez would take a shot at them too if he was able to. I'm not bias at all. Just wouldn't wanna hear Martinez say he is too small for a bigger guy if a good offer was made by a Super Middleweight or Light Heavyweight. I feel you but the difference there is that Martinez has reached his limit and has never fought above 160 lbs. Now let's say Martinez won a paper title from let's say Taylor at 167 lbs then refused to fight B-Hop or Bute because he was too small even though both were willing to make the smw limit it would be a bit hypocritical. Again, I'm not saying Pac should be fighting Martinez but i don't see why it's such a big deal for a career jmw to call out a title holder in that division

there's nothing wrong with martinez calling out floyd and pac. that's where the big money is in the first place. sergio can call out all he want...pac and floyd can accept or refuse. either way, it should be acceptable. it's the overzealous fans that's making an issue out of it. they see it as an opportunity to diss on the fighters that they don't like and they do it vigorously but in a stupid way.

I don't care that he's calling out two WW's, they're both insanely good WW's and are the $$ makers in the sport right now. What bothers me is people who claim Pac/Floyd are ducking him when he is obviously not in their weight class.

Pac/Martinez at 154 IS risky for pac, but i'd consider it actually a greater challenge for him than Floyd at this point in time.

I'm cool with him calling out Welterweights, just as long as he was to be willing to fight a Light Heavyweight, if 1 was to ever call him out. i love how ppl act like they dont kno why hes calling both pac and may out. both have gotten 154 lb belts and both are the supernovas of the sport. why the frik wouldnt he call them out? they have the right to refuse. but to act like there arent numerous reasons for why this is a very different circumstance, i question whether some of u guys are just needlessly biased.

The is indeed a size difference, but in the sport of boxing that why they have divisions, and again IF Pac was willing to be handed a title ona silver platter at 154 then i see no problem with anyone able to make 154 wanting a shot at that title. That's because Sergio called out Manny mate, and you know the mixes in people's minds here :dance: Seriously though IMO, if Sergio had not said anything like "Manny is too small" before he realized what time it is, then he wouldn't come across as hypocritical. And I'll never feel ill for a guy when he's all about the benjamins and a big payday, it's just too funny Sergio, as respectable as he was before all these, would resort to the oldest trick in the book :lol1: Martinez put his foot in his mouth, can't deny that, & it is hypocritical based on his statement. At the same time it would be a bit hypocritical of Pac & his team to claim a belt at 154 and yet also claim he's too small when called out by a fighter who can make that weight. Of course it's about getting a big payday, which i think Martinez has earned at this point, and sure Pac and his team know their limitations and there's no good reason to take the fight, but i see nothing wrong with Martinez calling out the best at 147 and 154 if he's willing to go down in weight. Martinez is a career jmw after all. Just my opinion, to each his own.
