a nasty one punch KO? like Paul Williams, Danny Jacobs, Fernando Montiel
or a beating over 12 rounds? like all of Ward's recent opponents lol
what do you guys think
Are you aware british boxing legend Henry Cooper was knocked out 3 or 4 times in consecutive fights and was about to give up boxing, but perservered and came back stronger.
This was before he fougth Ali and knocked him down.
Being knocked out before only ruins you according to Floyds fans, if you are fighting Pac, so people dont give Pac credit.
It's hard watching yourself get knocked into oblivion by a single punch over and over again on replay everytime you sleep.
Especially when there were high expectations going into the fight.
Ask Ricky Hatton's coke addiction. A devastating KO sinks into the psyche far deeper than a sustained beating.
:pat:
its more of mental thing
imagine being undefeated knocking fools out and this guy comes along whoops your ass over 12 rounds, not necessarily hurting you bad physically.
think Hamed vs Barrera... oh nvm that was before Pac came up.
Hamed wasn't broken mentally. I think having that stupid September 11 messed him up mentally than losing a boxing match. If you think about the time Hamed lost in 2001 at New Jersey, USA that 5 months later two planes collided against the Twin Towers. Imagine a Muslim boxer like him witnessing something so catastrophic and next think of his image/swag in the ring praising Allah, Islam, and being a Muslim those things are all asking for trouble back in those days.
I honestly believe he retired in fear of his children and wife because of the "kill all the Muslims" mentality raging on the Western society especially the U.S. and in default the U.K. being an ally as well. And lucky he wasn't a Pakistani but a Lebanese. Look where they found Osama bin Laden in Pakistan.
Stupid people will believe Hamed was broken down because of one loss but it wasn't that probably be because of what happened during those years. And as a person who lived in New York City in Queens - Guyanese, Indians, Pakistanis, or any Indian looking person did not go outside their houses much or packed the streets like they usually did. I remember taxis were hard to get because every Indian looking or Muslim person were afraid of what would happen next. My classmates didn't even go to school for the whole week.
Yea, some people here were to young to remember some of the events that occurred 10 years ago. Also, this coming September 11th, 2011 marks the 10th Anniversary of that terrible day.
Harder to come back from 12 round beating.
Lacy was never the same after the Calzaghe fight for a reason.
Look at Khan, Lennox etc. You can come back from 1 punch KO's.
Yeah you're right
But those guys aren't exactly known for having a chin. But they knew they had skill to bring them back up but maybe for someone like pwill and hatton who relied on having a good chin and to be clocked like that... Idk might.make you real shy.
that said I hope the punisher comes back stronger

Nasty one punch is easier to recover PROVIDED that you ARE COMPLETELY KTFO and don't remember anything.

lol i didnt necessarily mean Wards opponents, just the way they lost.
I guess that was a bad example
but think Barrera-Hamed, Hopkins-Pascal etc
Only the weak minded shouldnt be able to recover from that Barrera or that Hopkins loss
THey were barely defeated and all the great fighters easily comeback from that kind of loss
i say 12 rounds beatings...the fighter who gets ko'ed either didn't have his hands up and let himself get caught or was given the perfect shot with the perfect timing. it does sometimes break someone's chin, but i would say it's just a matter of mental strength to get over it, tighten up your defense, and move on. 12 round beatings just show that you were outclassed. next fight you have to study the bad habits you did and how to improve (whether it be countering, defense, punches, etc) and study the next opponent. it takes physical and mental strength to comeback from a 12 round beating. both are bad, but i'd say 12 round beating is a bit harder to overcome....
There should be nothing hard about recoving from a Ward defeat.
If you cant recover from that, you wont recover from anything
The only hard thing about recovering from a Ward fight is the scar tissue you will have after fighting him

lol.....overrating ward much?....
oh yeah...
Roy Jones comes to mind.
but people wonder if he was chinny before, just real difficult to catch.
Na, Roy had a good chin. He took some nice clean ones to the dome including from Ruiz. You can tell how bad his resistance got when he was shelling up against Calzaghe.
Also, look at Ricky Hatton. He could take some leather before Floyd knocked him out.
but I'm sticking with beatings being harder to come back from. Some fighters like Margarito recover fine from being stopped.
wtf......ward does'nt ruin his opponnenst.....he's good but he aint no destroyer mofo....

beatings are worse, but we've def seen KO's like that ruin chins too.
