one and only and cash cow: perhaps floyd fought a "slightly" better mosley from his confidence of the margarito win. but there is no doubt that pacquiao beat mosley more convincingly. punch stats, as well as mayweather being a flurry away from being stopped prove this to be true. mayweather NEVER ONCE had mosley in serious trouble, and mosley wasn't even TRYING to avoid damage!! lol he was just grinning and blinking the whole time. when has mosley ever got on a bike like that before? FEAR - makes a man act funny.
This....i can go with.
Mayweather fought Mosley right after Mosley had DOMINATED Margarito! Floyd had a better more confident Mosley, Floyd was forced to PICK Mosley, because he felt disrespected by Mosley interrupting his postfight interview in the ring - after Floyd dominated King Marquez. Pacquiao PICKED Mosley after Mosley had two DISMAL back to back performances. Mosley asked Team-Pac for a fight right after Mosley DOMINATED Margarito, and was willing to even go down to 140lbs to get the fight....Pacquiao said no. Mayweather fought a CONFIDENT version of Mosley. Pacquiao fought a DISCOURAGED version of Mosley, EVIDENT by Mosley running the ENTIRE fight and NEVER committing to MIXING it up. Mosley wouldve fought Pac differently had Pac taken up the CHALLENGE right after Mosley OBLITERATED Margarito. Again, Pac fought a DISCOURAGED OLDER Mosley. Floyd Fought a "willing to commit" Mosley that was "riding high" after an OUTSTANDING performance against the "most feared & avoided fighter" in the division.
Shhhh.... you're making sense.
I felt disgusted after Pacquiao-Mosley. I haven't been this disappointed in a fight in a long time. Mayweather-Mosley was much better. Plus, Mosley was WBA champ at the time.
both sucked i got respect for mosley hes a classy guy but he is the reason both fights sucked he was too old for both fights. he ran and held pacquiao all fight and against floyd he gassed after round 4 and just stood in front of him not letting his hands go
hmmm... I'd have to pick with:
A. A fight where old man mosley was attacking and some lady gaga fan retreating.
or
B. A fight where old man mosley is running for his life for the entire 12 rounds?
May/mosley was more exciting, i reluctantly admit. but this says more about how good pacquiao is, and floyd's deterioration - he had instilled so much fear in mosley he literally refused to engage, EVER. the exact same mosley floyd fought is the one pac fought. and pac had him twice as hurt, and twice as shook.
MMM....almost champ. I can almost agree with you. I would'nt go as far as saying that floyd is deteriorating. I would say that in that match up, Mosley was willing to go at Floyd. He got tagged for it, too. And he kept trying, to no avail.
To me that shows mosley had less respect for Floyd than he did for Pacquiao. From the moment he felt that left right from pacquiao, he seemed to retreat more and more as the rounds progressed.
Both took mosley's will...in different ways. One with defense and one with offense.
In hindsight, the offensive path was a much shorter one.
I say Mayweather/Mosley was the better fight, because you at least had Mosley attempting to do something.
This wasn't the case last night. ONce he felt the power, he simply seemed to close shop. He mostly became Clottey with better movement.
So, overall, the Mayweather fight was better to see in the long run.
But I would still say the greater nod goes to Pacquiao since it was his actions that kept the other guy from attempting to even advance.
Floyd kept shane from effecting advancing when he tried. But he tried because he felt he could.
Well if anybody is to blame for those fights being "boring" it's Shane Mosley not Floyd or Pacquiao.
i agree. floyd was actually engaging mosley. mosley was just trying to see the final bell on both fights.
Both fights were disappointing.
People were surprised that Mayweather went toe-to-toe with Shane and was able to out muscle him. The second round shot on Mayweather got people off their seats.
People are surprised that Mosley ran from going toe-to-toe with Pacquiao, who had ever seen Shane run like he did in round 11? The third round knock down of Shane got people off their seats.
All this shows is that Mosley has no heart and needs to retire.
Also, Mayweather and Pacquiao are getting older and need to fight before their skills erode anymore.
And let me ask you this, which fight were the fans booing throughout most of the main event? I heard no boos during Floyd/Mosley, only cheers.
Amazing. Who would have thought?
Shane actually looked like he tried to win against Floyd, and was coming off a rejuvenated victory against Margarito. Floyd fought masterful after the 2nd round and demonstrated the sweet science at it's finest. Mosley looked even older against Pacquiao and only showed up to pick up a paycheck. Pacquiao couldn't cut off the ring and would lunge in like an amateur (Shane just couldn't pull the trigger to capitalize). Pacquiao only looked good in spurts like when he knocked down Shane and after he slipped.

The best rounds were the knock downs in both fights.... but there were a few good moments apart from that.
When Mosley had Floyd in trouble in the 2nd round ... we never saw Floyd in that much trouble.
When Manny knocked down Mosley, Mosley's face and his reaction after that changed completely. If someone told me before the fight that Mosley would be running like that after just a few rounds .... I still can't believe he ran all night long ...
BUT in BOTH fights, Mosley was not the same Mosley of old. Against Floyd, Mosley gassed out early on and against Manny, he ran and took no risks after that knock down.
Mosley's last 3 fights have been PPV main events and all 3 have left fans dissapointed.
Mosley isn't exciting. I hope he's never on a PPV card again. I don't even wanna see him on TV anymore.
He cant pull the trigger anymore. If he does continue to fight its sad to say but he belongs on ESPN or an undercard.

Mosley vs Mayweather was better because both fighters are trying to win the fight. In the case of Pac, Mosley runs away
Mosley threw 3 more punches a round than Clottey did with Pac against Floyd.
