Trainer Freddie Roach, who has been with Pacquiao since 2001, put it more succinctly.
“This is the best camp we’ve ever had,” he said.
No one had to tell Pacquiao to make this the best camp he’s ever had. He just did it.
Why? Two possible reasons: One, he was in good but not great shape going into the Margarito fight, which he won handily but took punishment he might’ve avoided had he been 100 percent. And, two, he believes Mosley is a threat.
Ariza pointed to Margarito.
“I don’t think he was happy about the Margarito fight, taking punches he probably felt he shouldn’t have taken,” he said. “Manny said when he fought (Miguel) Cotto that Cotto hit him with his best shots to the body and all over and didn’t feel them. He said, ‘Against Margarito, I felt almost everything.'
“This time, he took the initiative. He said, “I want to get bigger and stronger.’ I think he’s taking Mosley seriously. I don’t think he took Margarito very seriously.”

It's simple and obvious really, Cotto's body attack consists solely on his left hook to the body which Pacquiao neutralized. Margarito's attacks to mid section, liver, chest, he's an all round better body puncher than Cotto. No offense to Cotto but he's always been an overrated body puncher.
Pac actually invited Cotto to whale on his body several times. That indicates that he could take Cotto's shots. With Margarito, Pac almost buckled down.
I don't remember pac looking like this after the Margarito fight....
Yeah, but Pac was curled up in a fetal position the next day after the Marg fight.
I think the margarito pac fought was the best ever margarito. He was a man obsessed in beating Pac and it showed.
That Margarito was a beast even though he got beat real bad, he was willing to take the punishment and put his life on the line.
thats classic pactard. that reminds me of the hatton ko days when pactards said some straight stupid sh!t.
Cotto never really got him with one he didn't expect. All those body punches in round 5, pac was bracing for them. The punch marg hurt Pac with he was caught in the ropes and couldnt brace for the punch.
I dunno hard to say because theres such a big size difference between Cotto and Marg obviously..I never really saw Cotto commit on bodyshots against Pac and Marg was way heavier on fight night and could gain more leverage because of his size.
Yeah Manny, next time dont fight Cotto at a catch weight so we can see if Margarito really hits harder than him.
WTF!!! Oh wait your Purto Rican..
WHAAAAAAAAAA!!!!:bottle::bottle::bottle:
That's some crazy talk right there. Cotto is light years a better body puncher than Marg, the difference is that Marg goes at it and doesn't care if he gets countered. Marg's defense consists in smiling after getting hit.
I'll even go as far as saying...it's not even close. Look at when Pacquiao backed into the ropes against Cotto. What did Cotto do? He continued to throw the left hook to the body despite Pacquiao having his elbows tucked in and blocking it. He completely ignored the fact that Pacquiao had a pretty huge gap down the middle, where as Margarito would angle himself to land there. Margarito's clearly the better body puncher.
Everyone would brag about Cotto's body punching, but there are much better body punchers out there.

Like they say you're only as good as your last opponent, Pacquiao fought Margarito last, so he has to hype him up a bit.
We also can agree Cotto did way better against Pacquiao than Margarito.
I'm not agreeing with that at all. Margarito almost had Pacquiao dropped in the 6th, and Pacquiao even with the beating he delivered had to work much harder than he did against Cotto. I'd say they did about the same.
Cotto may have the hardest singular body punch between the two with his left hook, but Margarito's success his entire career stems off punishing a fighter to the body early and wearing them down late.
it hurt after the rd 6 shots. i bet his body was buzzing the rest of the fight and made the blows more unbearable. Margs aint **** w/o bricks. Cotto by UD if they rematch on sept.
