According to someone who works for primetime said it did 150,000 ppv buys, which is a record for them. But he said they still are counting the next day repeats before they announce the final number. I think thats a pretty good number, considering the opponent and the last minute change in broadcaster.
Those numbers aren't comparable, in terms of boxing PPV's there is no way that a Boxing PPV that sells 90,000 in the UK is like a US PPV that sell's 550,000. 550,000 in the US is a pretty successful number, for example didn't Cotto-Margarito do around 600,000 and that was on HBO PPV. 90,000 is good considering the late change to Primetime, especially as Primetime is a PPV channel that 98% of people don't know about, it is only known about by Boxing/MMA fans.
You can't just take population differences into account when working out these things out. Mayweather-Hatton sold 1.9 Million PPV's in the US, it sold 2.5 Million in the UK, if they would have had a late change over to Primetime then it might have done 1-1.5 Million but this is obviously a guess as there are no comparable examples.
It's the only reasonable comparison that can be made. Everything else is speculation.

WTH?!? 1.9 million PPV buys in the US?!?
That number ain't even close. Cut that number in half and it's still over the real number of PPV buys --> http://sports.espn.go.com/sports/boxing/news/story?id=3158134
I know Khans deal was 50:50 with Primetime, which means Khan promotions would have taken £7.50 x 150K which is over £1M sterling.
If 150K sales is right, then Team Khan made a smart business decision kicking Sky int touch for Primetime and now having signed a deal with GBP and HBO sky can literally take a running jump.
The PPV was a failure and a dissapointment, but those numbers will mean whilst someone at Sky was smiling after the joke of a PPV card bombed, they will be feeling the heat for losing all that potential revenue lol
Even if those numbers are true, the revenue from any Khan fight is like pocket change to a company the size of Sky.
Statement from primetime below:
'We are delighted with the figures which was a record breaking night for Primetime. We would like to thank Khan Promotions, Golden Boy Promotions and all the fans who supported us.'

if amir wants bigger things... he knows where to go.
if he's satisfied with the current numbers(assuming it's true) it'll be unlikely he crosses the pond.
its the former imho.
I find that extremely hard to believe. Considering his PPVs normally don't sell well on SKY, for the fight to do 150k on a very small channel against a mediocre opponent as well doesn't sound right. If true though, I'm very impressed given the circumstances.
150,000 Mmmm If this figure is correct thats alot of irish who watched this fight..I believe there was about 6k at the fight..Which aint bad concidering!
Mayweather is retired, no one knows who Haye is in America while Khan's name is getting bigger and bigger every day. LOL at Cotto how many buys did Cotto Mayorga do?
I'm talking worldwide, Khan aint **** in America either didn't like 5k fans turn up for Khan-Maidana? How many PPV buys did any Khan fight do in America? NONE
Truthfully, even if it did 90,000, that's a pretty solid number. Considering the change in broadcasters and the relatively unknown opponent, Khan was able to sell a decent amount.
Take 90,000, for example. Essentially, numbers-wise, this would be like if Khan was fighting in America, had an opponent that was only kind of known, switched from HBO to SHOWTIME and sold about 550,000. That's pretty damn good.
If it's 150,000, then it's more like they sold over 900,000. These are pretty good numbers.

Mayweather
Pacquiao
V. Klitschko
W. Klitschko
Cotto
Haye
Are all much bigger draws than Khan.

Khan is already a top 5 draw.
after Pacquiao the Klitschkos and Canelo

Haye

and if amir continues to look god awful without his old strength coach (alex ariza)
we can credit them with another terrible move.
While I do agree that he has an amateur team with him who are just trying to cash in on every penny, you have to realise that his performance wasn't to do with his coach right there at all. He fought an opponent who was content with surviving and didn't do much in the fight, he fought cautiously...dude only landed 5 punches someone was saying, all in all he landed a pitiful number of blows and forced Amir to be the aggressor which led to him being abit careless.
His workrate was good, his speed was good and you don't lose power after one fight lmao his power is due to his speed and he looked very quick in that fight MCLOWNsky couldn't keep up with him...you have never heard any fighter after fighting AK saying that he was slow or slower than they thought.
He needs to work on a few things with Roach in the gym but no matter how much he works with Roach or anyone, I think Amir Khan loves a good scrap and when he gets hit he wants to hit the other guy back straight away with a hard punch, its just his nature...something you can't take away.

amir will probably never fight overseas again until he loses
you could see in his face after the fight that he was making god awful money
even lampley and merchant were laughing it up
mccloskey made more cache than amir, according to hbo
kudos haroon
kudos shah
kudos team khan. another great move by the most foolish team in boxing.
idiots.

one fight wont really show the effects of the change in conditioning coaches to a degree where we can say it's definitely a detriment
but he's a siginificant part of amir's regime, considering that roach is the busiest trainer in the sport and has allegiance to pacquiao first
but he looked awful awful awful
No way it did 150k, 99% of the UK have never heard of the primetime channel and Khan's fights have never been big PPV sellers. His PPV debut only did 30k on Sky and that was coming off audiences of 10 million on ITV.
