Im really just tired of it. Instead of giving credit to the winner, you make the loser out to be ****. Its just plain stupid.
I actually gained respect for Berto last night, Ortiz looked so much better than in the past and Berto went on from getting decked twice in the first round to making it a war. I didnt think he had that in him. And Berto did not get 'exposed', hes as hes always been....a fighter without amazing fundamentals, but extremely explosive and powerful.
Fighters can change drastically from fight to fight, and talented, skilled guys beating other talented, skilled guys does not = exposed. Just because a guy lost doesnt change how good he is magically. stop ****ting on guys that just lost, theyre still damn good fighters, simply losing doesnt erase an accomplishments they had in the past.
give credit to the winner instead of discrediting the loser.
Berto is not a Bum and i think his a Talented Boxer but he is over-payed and over-rated by HBO. He needs to change trainers to improve more his skill set and some strategic planning because i think he got none on that fight?!

I totally agree w/u dude, but there's nothin we can do about it. Ya' can't fix stupid.
at one time Ortiz was considered world class then Maidana happened. he started coming back then Peterson happened. the kid has world class skills and after beating Berto he should be considered world class, Berto needed to lose so he can learn not to base everything off power, bring it more then one game plan and for Christ sakes adapt in the ring, he should had started boxing and using his speed and go to the damn body. Berto is very good, but he was outclassed by a better boxer. so get over the hype job non sense. He was a world champion and this was his 6th defense. hype jobs don't have titles especially the big four
Yea I don't really agree with the way 'hypejob' and 'exposed' are used on most boxing forums. People now calling Berto a hypejob is crazy imho. I GAINED respect for Berto in that fight last night.
People probably saying Juanma was exposed last night? I dont know, imo he wasnt exposed and is still a great fighter, just had an off night or something, I dont really know. Quick stoppage too, but that's a whole other discussion.
Kirkland aint a hypejob imo either, got 'exposed' a little, but that might be because of not having Anne in his corner, who knows. Just my opinion.
Seems like a loss is the end of the world for some people on here, when it really aint at all. ESPECIALLY for Berto last night, and juanma even.
Absolutely. Very quick IMHO. Yes he was about to have the breaks beat off him, but that stoppage was soooooooooooo premature.
Everyone is always held to the standard of Ali and Ray Robinson. And if u don't do anything to remotely be on that level, than u r punished by the fans for it. It seems like the weaker u r as a boxer, the less famous you should be. Though this is true, the reality is fame is not a measuring stick for talent.
And if u don't live up to the fame, u will be punished
Berto is super talented, but talent only takes you so far, I'm still a fan and always will be. Trainer did not go with he right game plan nor did they have a back up, Berto showed me more tonight then his last couple, he discredited any chin issues. Did anyone else see the string of drool coming from Ortiz when he took that monster shot, my god. But Berto couldn't finish and got careless. Its ignorant to call this kid a hype job and you take everything away from what Ortiz did
I cant green you as it seems every damn post I see from you is worthy of Green, and I cant hit you with it enough times. So please except this donation of points in the place of Green bruh.
Guess my definition of hypejob is different than yours. It's simply wrong to think a fighter can't be overhyped and be a good fighter. If they weren't good they wouldn't be hyped up in the first f***ing place.
He was merely a good fighter so calling him a hype job means he is less than that, you obviously never considered Berto better than good either.
If you feel that way fine say it but don't call it a good win.
That has to do with position in the sport not really skill~ he was never considered in those guys class truly and would have needed to beat one or continue on winning for a minute to get there.
Saying he is a hype job is essentially calling him not that good, try to justify it whatever way you desire but if you feel that way don't call it a good win.

That's ridiculous. Berto was being talked about as a viable opponent skillwise for Mayweather and Pacquiao, him not being as good as them doesn't mean he sucks it just means he isn't as good as the two best in the sport. How does that mean he sucks?

give credit to the winner instead of discrediting the loser. Exactly!!! People come on here and b1tch about boxers all the time!!!! And they call themselves 'real' fans!!!
Yea that is precisely what it means, if you aren't at a level you are thought to be at guess what you ARE NOT THAT GOOD.
You can say that if you want but you can not call it a good victory then, you can't have it both ways.

Hypejob doesn't mean you aren't good. Hypejob means you were hyped up to the point you are considered at a level you shouldn't be. Berto is a good fighter who was hyped up as a great fighter. He was a hypejob.

I agree to a point...some of these fighters haven't really fought any world class competition and once they do they get rocked, Kirkland is one and so is Berto. Paul Williams is one of these guys who really didn't get exposed but got caught with a good shot. He fought world class fighters and beat them. With Juanma, I'm still debating that because he beat an undefeated Deleon and stopped Marquez but you could are argue about their world class status at the time. But who has Berto and Kirkland fought? They were exposed.
See Lopez isn't a hypejob at all. He was hyped up sure, but he had done things to deserve the hype and was considered in a class he deserved to be in.
Hypejobs is saying a guy is not that good, so beating one really should mean nothing~
You are talking out of both sides of your mouth.

Good job homie, but as long as people play in those BS threads they'll keep posting 'em. I just ignore those threads
If people want to not call these guys hype jobs then fine. But what they were was very protected and even if they would've won last night it wouldn't have changed that perception because Salido isn't highly regarded at all and Ortiz is an average fighter as has been shown against Maidana and when he couldn't beat Peterson all that impressively like Bradley did for example. If these guys are the torch carriers of boxing then boxing is in trouble. Let's just put it that way.
It is a huge win for Ortiz. He proved he is a legitimate top welterweight, and how he did so was by beating the hell out of a guy HBO had protected and allowed to stay out of the ring with a good welterweight for years. He showed he was on an entirely different level. You can be a good fighter like Berto and still be a hypejob. I don't know what else you would call a fighter who hasn't fought anything resembling a threat since the Collazo fight.
Paul Williams and Zab Judah were not hypejobs either, they proved themselves in ways Berto couldn't compare before they lost those fights.
See I disagree that calling a guy a hypejob always takes credit away. Beating hypejobs prove you aren't a hypejob.

;10393517']You are actually. To say he's a hype job means you're saying he isn't that good of a fighter but rather HBO's golden child. I understand where you're coming from though. Berto is a very talented fighter with tremendous speed. Ortiz beat the legitimate WW champion. Not the IBF diamond belt etc, this is a huge win for Ortiz. Just like Sergio Martinez's win over Paul Williams, and Miguel Cotto's win over Zab Judah were big wins aswell.
