Anyone else laughed when they heard Emannual Steward shout "Ohhhggh magghh ghhadddrr!"? I know it was a great round, it just sounded funny, I thought he had a heart attack or something.
I agree on the first knockdown but on the second one, Ortiz was in serious, serious trouble.
If he was in that serious of trouble, he would have gone down when Berto caught him just seconds later. He took about three flush hard punches about 10 seconds after the knock down and didn't even wobble.
Not serious, serious trouble. He was in some trouble.
You could see it in his legs and the fact he wasn't coherent enough to even hold.
His legs were actually pretty good considering how flush and hard the punch was. He bounced a few times when he got back up and if you look at his footwork after the knock down, he isn't out of it.
His arms were by his side and he was just ducking and doing what he could to survive.
I've rewatched that round probably 15 or 20 times. His hands are down after the knock down, when he takes additional punches (and hard ones and doesn't even get wobbled), but he was strong enough to push Berto off him, then he has his hands up the the rest of the round.
Fighters fight on instinct, even when you are seriously hurt, you never think you are. That's why after the fight Ortiz said he wasn't that hurt but he was, you could see it.
I put this with other fights, fighters, rounds I have seen. He was not that hurt. Juan Ma was really, really, really hurt twice against Solidis last week. Now that is "really in trouble"
Ortiz was no where close to that. If he was, he wouldn't have moved around so well. He would have been doing what Juan Ma did, back into the ropes (to hold you up), and just stay there.
What happened was, Berto got careless and got caught with a left hook that stunned him, then another left hook that put him down.
He actually got hit with a right cross first.
He has the exact same remark in Gatti vs Ward I when Ward, out of nowhere, landed a 7 punch combination. I've seen the Gatti vs Ward I fight like 50 times, that's why I remember it.

:lol1::lol1: Hilarious. The way you've spelt it sounds just like he said it.
?
The first knock down Berto scored wasn't a real knock down. Period. It was a balance knock down, that's it. Ortiz wasn't hurt. And he wasn't that hurt from the second knock down which was a true one. (Obviously, if he had no legs, how come he dominated the rest of the fight after being knocked down?)
Berto was putting his head down and turning away. It doesn't matter whether you've been warned or not, you call what you are seeing in that moment. In that moment, it wasn't a purposeful shot to the back of the head. That's all there is.

steward was bias towards ortiz in the fight.. he calls one of the knockdowns by berto a clear slip, says its was no way a knockdown.. then during the replay where it shows a clear knockdown he acts as if he never said it.. also he crucifies the ref for deducting a point off ortiz, after he'd been warned plenty not to hit behind the head
?

By the way Stewart was making some dumb excuses saying Berto is still hurt from the knockdown in round 1 and he was saying that all the way to round 4. Berto wasnt hurt just from the knockdown but he was hurt from punches landed in every round
He said Berto hadnt recovered from round 1, he was right everytime he thought of recovering Ortiz punched him in the head.
I remember that. I think he said it because Berto had landed a loud, massive shot, and instead of stepping back, Ortiz ran right in with four or five punches of his own.
The first six rounds were some of the most exciting rounds you will ever see. Great great fight.

I like how they make Emmanuel tell them before the fight starts how he sees it's gonna go with that graphic on the screen now.
Emmanuel did not see this fight going this way.
Well, the first round he said what Berto should try to do and what Ortiz should do and he *thought* Berto would be able to use his speed and better boxing to win.
But who thought the fight would be that engaging? Most people were picking Berto, Ortiz hadn't shown anything really since his loss to Maidana. Other than actually saying boxing might not be for him. (How can you not question his resolve?)
He did another OMG in the 7th.
It was a pretty crazy knock down though. The punch didn't look hard, but it's those short tight punches that often knock people down.
while the first one sounded like he had a heart attack, his 2nd 'aah mah gawwwwd' sounded more like he just shot a load, lol.
the pretty white girl in the black dress in front of dibella was always standing looking at berto. is that his girl?
She was jumping up and down a lot too. Haha. The 6th is funny to watch the crowd.
People have their hands to their heads like they can't believe the end of the round.
