man look....I already gave him props in that Ortiz appreciation/congrats thread....I'm not apologising for NOTHING...naw fukk that!!!.....................J/k :rofl:
in my book he had a question mark over his heart....he erased that....the kid fought his ass off....nuff respect!!! :notworthy
always knew he had it in him...was just waiting for it to show up. i thought berto would win this fight. wasnt 100% but ortiz showed me something and im glad i never turned my back on him. the skills are there, now we saw the heart. big things for this guy in the future. definitely a top 5 ww now.
Great fight victor did his thing. I was really hoping he would i cant stand berto. Ive been waiting for him to get beat up for a while. Cant fight bums forever.
Big surprise, you bought the Berto hype. :killyou:
I actually never bought into the Berto hype. Actually I have been a very big Berto detractor here on these forums. I just thought that much less of Ortiz going into the fight :lol1:
However, the one and ONLY aspect I liked about Berto. Is that Collazo fight I felt he dug deep and won the championship rounds that he needed to win that fight. That's the only thing I ever liked about Berto. And, not only did I think that Ortiz wasn't tough, didn't have heart, or a warrior mentality. But, I also thought Maidana somewhat ruined him, took some of "Viciousness" away from Ortiz.
I still think I was right about Berto, he's not that good, leaky defense, pretty hyped up. But, still showed toughness and heart in this fight.
So I still feel I was right about Berto.
However, I was totally, very wrong about Ortiz.
I never jumped on the hate Ortiz wagon after the Maidana fight. But I was also cautious of giving Ortiz the benefit of the doubt especially after seeing the way he fought in the bouts after. I'm glad he redeemed himself the right way tonight though. Hopefully, boxing fans can take it easy on him.
The guy earned it. When he lost and struggled it was as a young prospect which he was and he was over hyped so the stage he failed on was much bigger. For gim to comeback and prove everybody wrong and fight like a complete different fighter. He was taking shots as well, kept getting up.
Apology Victor Ortiz, I owe you 60 bucks when you fight on PPV, great fight, **** was more theatrical than the Lights Out finale and it was real. 100% impressed with both guys. Watched with a group of very casual fans and the energy in the room was louder than the arena people were into the fight for the first ti9me in along time the fight was the best part.
:lol1:,
I was wrong about Ortiz. I really didn't think he had a chance tonight. Boy was I wrong, not only did he prove me wrong in that aspect. But, he showed qualities that I didn't think he had in doing so. Like toughness, heart, will to win. Props to him for getting the best win of his career.
Hopefully he can make some noise now in the WW division.
Big surprise, you bought the Berto hype. :killyou:
I have been very outspoken as to the heartlessness and cowardice of Ortiz. I have never given him any respect on this forum.
Victor Ortiz impressed the hell out of me and showed that he DOES have the heart of a warrior and has what it takes to be a top fighter.
I take back what I have said about Ortiz and have become a fan after his showing against Berto.
Congratulations to Victor, he earned a hard fought victory and proved a lot to a lot of people while doing it. What a fantastic fight.
Always knew Ortiz had great tools, but his lack of heart and determination made me doubt him. My apologies to you Ortiz, you showed great heart and determination and hopefully we see this Ortiz, not the old Ortiz but this one.
I had points on Berto but I'm very happy that Ortiz won and redeem himself in a big way. Berto is finally exposed as an overhyped, and overpaid fighter.
Im so glad Ortiz has proved all his doubters wrong. I think the move to 147 was a good one. I have yet to see the fight but from what I have read he seemed more powerful and was abe to take a better shot.
I noticed something in Ortiz's eyes at the weigh in. He had a hungry look like I have never seen before from him. He is normally really happe and what not. Now days he seems angry at the boxing world for going against him. I hope this angry and vicioud victor ortiz is here to stay.
Pay your respects putos!:boxing:
dude, what a performance victor put on, right? i bet you were happy as **** when the 12th bell rang and it was obvious that belt was victor's...
:lol1:,
