Probably doesn't mean much. But SM is still fighting and Oscar isn"t. I think Oscar should be more respected at this point because of what he did in the divisions under WW.
I'm not even gonna attempt to care about what you said about Cotto because your a proven hater there.
Winky is one of the most avoided fighters of all time. World class fighter, he deserved the big payday's after having to go all over Europe to prove himself.
He really isn't, at all.
Winky priced himself out of a fight with Oscar, he is probably the only person in the world who has been foolish enough to price himself out of a fight with Oscar De La Hoya.
He priced himself out of a fight with Floyd Mayweather.
He is notorious for priceing himself out.
Winky really isn't the most avoided fighter of all time. He is drastically far from it.
Winky Wright??? Wouldn't fight Cotto either before the Pac fight. He dodged Cotto & Margarito but back then everybody thought it was a biitch move to pick on pac. They thought he took the easy root.
I'm not saying he's a major ducker but I don't think Mosley's ever backed away from a challenge. Just couldn't get those bigger fights but he wasn't as successful as De La Hoya.
Oscar did not duck Winky Wright.
Oscar said he was going to fight the winner of Margarito-Cotto because he thought Cotto was going to win. Had Cotto beat Margarito he would have fought him. He just exposed himself as afraid of Margarito when he won and didn't fight him.
Shane could have had those oppurtinites had he kept winning. But he didn't, he kept losing.
Oscar because he was successful in almost every weight class he fought in. Has that controversial win over Pernell but he still put up a good fight. Was beating Trinidad really bad til the end. The only weight class he ever really struggled in was middleweight. But that was even a catchweight with Hopkins.
The thing with Shane is their were quite a few guys Oscar didn't fight. Shanes fought damn near everybody and always put up a damn good fight. So I'll always have more love for Mosley. He's a fukkin warrior. Never backed down from a challenge.
Compare who Oscar has fought with who Shane has fought and Oscar has fought tougher competition by a wide margin.
The only guy Shane fought who Oscar wouldn't is Margarito.
You obviously didn't understand my point. I mean if people are doing it with Margarito, they should do it as well with others.
They do. Mosley has received plenty of criticism and questions.
Shouldn't Mosley's career be questioned due to steroids? I mean, you guys do it to others for every little reason.
Yet you never do it to Margarito who was actually caught cheating. Either pratcice what you preach or stop crying.
Golden Boy. Takes a lot to top his career.
damn dat trick in yo avatar got ass, only if skinny whitye *****es could have ass like that... who is that???
Don't agree, we're not talking about knowingly or unknowingly taking banned substances byt total career. Although Oscar's career as a lightweight and until he met Trinidad, was a very public and moneymaking stint, it was VERY carefully crafted by Top Rank and Oscar, like mayweather had what the journalists referred to as his "Brains Trust", who always made sure that Oscar had a good edge. They miscalculated a couple of times, like against Quartey, but they existed and did their job.
Mosleys early career was every bit as good as Oscar's, in fact better, because he, even then fought anyone and everyone who would fight him. But he was in the shadows and not as popular. However from the time he beat Oscar, convincingly in the first fight and closely in the second, I believe Mosley has had the public edge. Fighting more competitively and more often AND fighting everyone regardless of them being on top form. His immediate returns against Forrest and Wright showed this. To me anyway.
In the bold, so true. You gotta respect Mosley for that.
This is a good question.
I think the word career- as it relates to boxing- has to be looked at in two ways.
If we think of career in the sense of having a successful resume with winning big fights and in good fashion, then Mosley might have the better resume. Yet, there is the steroid question around Mosley and he has a fair share of losses. De La Hoya lost nearly every big fight after Chavez. Yet, De La Hoya fought a better fight against Mayweather than Mosley did.
And if we think of career in terms of fame, financial success, and ability to captive the fans, then Oscar certainly has the nod ahead of Shane. Mosley has never garned even near the level of public support and financial revenue that Oscar did.
That said, one more right against Mayweather and/ or a shocker over Pacquiao would move Mosley into another level. But that's just the kind of wishful thinking that breaks a boxer's heart and keeps them in the game too long.
very well thought out opinion cleanly laid out.
Oscar. Shane Mosley's career is a bit tarnished (HGH) however, if he beats Pac :boxing::chomp: could make his career close to Oscar if not pass it.
