the fact that Maidana was forced to wear Winning gloves. While I was amazed and impressed at Morales performance as soon as I saw them come out in the Winning gloves I said to my buddy 'Maidana by decision'. Those of you who have used Reyes and Winning gloves will know what a significant difference they make in terms of punching power. Had Maidana been wearing Reyes maybe we would have had a different outcome? But then again, as Benjiman Button said... 'maybe not'
;10359842']Erik was drained. Which is why he got knocked out. Same thing happened with Floyd-Corrales.
point is, it's the 2nd time it was publicly know EM requested for winnings to be worn by him and his opponent, first one was w/ Pac. who knows how many more fights before? in any case, even if any fan say it won't matter, IT MATTERED to Erik that's why he demanded it, since he's the one getting the brunt of those punches.
for those who think it does'nt matter which gloves to use...look back at pac vs erik 1 then 2.....

Obviously they are the same weight however the difference it much more significant than just mental and anyone who has hit and been hit with Winning knows this.
While I agree you can knock out people with any brand it is very rare at the elite level you ever see anyone stopped with Winning gloves. In fact outside of Mayweather vs Gatti I cant think of any other examples.
I get what you're saying.
We definitely don't want to take anything away from Morales' performance,
but it is somewhat telling that he forces his opponents to wear Winning gloves when he can.
Coincidentally, now we have two occasions where we have fights when his opponents were supposed to blow him out of the water with their punching power, but couldn't.
Now if Morales and Maidana were to have a rematch and Maidana stops Morales with gloves of his choosing, what would the reasoning be then?
Morales was shot-shot?
Double shot espresso?
As a boxing and a Morales fan, I do feel sort of bad talking about the gloves. It is what it is.
For what it's worth, even if they were literally fighting with pillows wrapped around their fists, the way Morales fought was still everything that's beautiful about boxing.

There is much more padding in the front, but I don't think it would of made a difference really. If Morales is at a comfortable weight, and isn't drained, he has a great chin.
wud have made only small difference. they were the same weight gloves. its more of a mental thing when fighters want thier usuall brand.
yes reyes is tighter seems slighty harder but they are not rocks. u can still knock ppl out wearing any brand of gloves.

Do you research first before you downplay Morales' gutsy performance. Maidana himself is not a big fan of Cleto Reyes gloves...

Not down playing the performance at all, I thought it was brilliant. My bad on not picking up on the fact Maidana prefers Everlast but the fact still remains, Everlast are far more a punchers glove than Winning. Im not even saying it would have made a difference, but im just saying.
