But a lot of black fighters are overrated and overhyped IMO based on their colour.
They are either the next Mike Tyson or next Floyd Mayweather if they are A) Athletic sluggers or B) Quite good boxers.
Kirkland and Jacobs are just two recent examples.
It's not racist to say people from a certain race are over-hyped in the media. People really need to know what the world means, before QQing. Grow up and make an argument based on your attitude towards facts.
The problem is people look at the 0 and make something big out of it, but flame other 0's (floyd/ottke/calz).
Think the problem is consistency and people need to judge ALL boxers by the same measuring tape.
Attitude
Skills
Record/Opponents
Heart
Personality
Not: Promoter
Race/Nationality
All the world class american fighters were on show last night haha, its funny that some of the deluded fat yanks on here still think they are the dominant force in boxing
Its funny how, when an American loses, some Europeans pansies wanna say Americans r dead in boxing as though THEY will be the next dominate nationality in the sport lmao. HAH!
some blacks are good some are bad some latinos are good some latinos are bad some whites are good some whites are bad etc. it depends on the individual not his race
This and also
Obviously this is a very stereotypical world, but u can pin media-hype against an entire race (especially sense the media, and most promoters r white/non-black)
Victor Ortiz was suppose to be the next Oscar De La Hoya, I wonder why... Amir Khan and De La Hoya have similar fighting style and they're both olympians, why isn't Amir Khan the next De La Hoya? Maybe its becuz he's not Mexican American?
Wait for the next Filipino to start coming on the rise and I guarentee he'll be labeled "the next Manny Pacquiao". And if he fails, r u gonna pin it on the Filipino people?
Haha the fat yanks really are upset today
Dont say anything about their fighters TS,they might get offended
They can go around on here saying anything they like about other fighters but you cant say anything about American fighters, they are the dominant force in boxing hahaha what a fucking joke

Easy for you and others on this forum to question peoples toughness when you yourself are not in the ring and not boxing, taking punishment and standing and trading with a boxer when you have the speed advantage...UH THAT DON'T MAKE YOU TOUGH...it means your STUPID! guys who take punishment do so because they don't have the Speed, Footwork or Reflex to do avoid punishment
bottom line, the expectation for BLACK FIGHTERS will ALWAYS BE HIGHER because of the RICH HISTORY, every black fighter will always be compared to other LEGENDARY BLACK FIGHTERS so automatically many of them will have UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS ANYWAY, then when they don't live up to being another Tyson or Leonard or Mayweather, people like yourself will be quick to call them "OVERRATED"
I don't get into the whole race BS because I never watched boxing like that and I never will, but people on this forum seems to go crazy when a black fighter loses or even a Rican fighter, much more then when somebody else loses
but as someone else posted, EVERY COUNTRY HYPE THEIR OWN and that is true, its is because Showtime and HBO does most of its production from the US...OF COURSE you are going to see them hype up American Fighters, just like when I watch the UK broadcast, they hype of their OWN and talk more about their own legends
and HYPE is not just some little website talking about a fighter, HYPE is when many websites and magazines is calling a fighter "THE NEXT BIG THING", Lemieux was hyped way more then KIRKLAND, Lemieux just last week was talking about breaking down Sergio Martinez, HYPE is what Saul Alvarez is getting right now, when you basically LABEL this guy "THE NEXT BIG THING" before he even beats a TOP FIGHTER
i do box, i got my nose broke literally last week for the 5th time, so dont make assumptions
am i good? no. do i get paid for it. no. i do it for enjoyment, and i know when i walk about the street im prepared for whatever. from what your saying that means guys like michael katsidas isnt tough, he's stupid. ok.
i think that about every american fighter nowadays are not as tough as they used to be. i could add victor ortix, kermit cintron to the list etc thats not racism, thats xenophobic, maybe, it just so happens that it is predominently african americans. are these guys braver than me? absolutley. Marvin Hagler said himself on the On the Ropes Podcast that fighters are not as brave as what they used to be, ducking everyone and everything, i call it the floyd mayweather effect
and doing THIS does NOT bring your POINT across

White folks playing the race card.
Really come on now. Jacobs? Jacobs didnt have any noteworthy wins
But a lot of black fighters are overrated and overhyped IMO based on their colour.

Dont know about Kirkland but i know Jacobs had a healthy amateur career, which adds to the standing, also an Athletic Slugger Quite good boxer who is black is and will always be more marketable then any white fighter!!!
Black, Mexicans,Whites, Other in order of what people wanna see in boxing, now the MMA may be different!!
But a lot of black fighters are overrated and overhyped IMO based on their colour.

If you think about it, were those two really that hyped up in the first place? I didn't even know who Jacobs was until he got KO'd. And how many true fans does Kirkland have? How many guys even have his picture on their avatar or sig? Of course there was some hype about him because he is the kind of fighter a lot of us like to see. Canelo is also the type of fighter we like to see, thats why there is so much hype around him, but most of his fans will admit he has a long ways to go. What you think you are seeing in black fighters also happens with PR fighters, white fighters, and Mexican fighters around here. Its human nature to get excited about a fighter from your race that is doing good. Pactards are the best example of that. lol Don't single out blacks on this because we are all guilty of this.
Wow.. Look at my join date, I've seen Jacobs being hyped as the next B-Hop (dominant middleweight) since the amateurs.
And Kirkland.. don't get me started on him. Kirkland was supposed to KTFO Martinez and Williams.. KO Cotto, Margarito, Angulo and even Pacquiao. People who start out by saying "I don't wanna be racist, or I'm not trying to be racist" are racist.
Kirk is strong, exciting and very flawed and that's about it. I feel you are threatened by black fighters, so you look for any loss as a way to openly/undercover say (See! see!, blacks aren't all that),..
It's boxing dude, all races have good, bad and great fighters. Stop it
not so much the posters on here but more the boxing media
funny how you only mentioned dawson on the list.
maxboxing hyped the **** out of adrian broner and james kirkland. hbo hyped the **** out of the anthony peterson
i dont agree witht the thread starter but there can be no doubt that african american fighters, with some expections like cloud, bradley, are not as tough as what they used to be. i dont think its racist to mention this, mexicans are as tough as always, things havent changed much
dawson - see the two johnson fights, pascal, he has talent but i question his heart - i could say that about a lot of african fighters nowadays, hagler they are not

Kirkland will bounce back. It's not like he got KTFO Ricky Hatton style. He still has a lot left. I think he was just being rushed. Kirkland fought 3 times in like 5 weeks. They should've been fighting him once every 8 weeks or something. Give him time to try and get back down to his natural weight class of 154.
well one fighter that aint over hyped are mexican fighters
they fo sho real
Antonio Margarito was put on a pedestal before Shane Mosley exposed him. Margarito also got exposed by Daniel Santos twice. And well he was no longer hyped when Pacquiao beat him to a pulp.
But one thing for sure, Juan Manuel Marquez is the truth.
Are you blind? The punch landed. It was a temple shot knockout.
Solis was badly hurt, wobbled and knocked out by a beautiful hard half uppercut/half hook counter punch. He never saw the punch coming. The temple shot fucked up Solis' equilibrium, disoriented him and made BOTH his legs turn to jelly.
Vitali's Ironfist shattered Solis' glass temple in the 1st round.
Vitali Klitschko: "I was inside the ring and I saw many, many times on video - the fight, and there is only one clear answer. I prepared the punch, half uppercut/half hook. I prepared this punch and I feel that I hit him pretty hard. Solis was knocked out, what happened after that, where he breaks his ligaments or his knee - it's his problem. I'm sorry the fight was so short. The next fight, I promise not to hit my opponent for the first three rounds, and then I'll knock him out. With Solis there are no excuses, this was a knockout punch"

I am with you, that was a brutal shot. He rattled Solis' brain with that grazing temple shot. It was almost as brutal as Danny Green's 1 punch KO of Paul Briggs.
I am glad you noticed that I wasn't trying to be racist. Join my "Don't want to be a racist but..." campaign, my friend, you will not regret it.
White European fighters>Black fighters.
Don't want to be racist though. My favorite animal is the black Panther, I like Pernell Whitaker, and my name is actually something an African American poster said in the lounge. So i'm not racist. White power!
