I didn't see any posts or topics in the history of this forum suggesting that. You can say he didn't have experience or some flaws, but I didn't see a rash of threads about how bad Lemieux was and how he was going to get exposed tonight.
He's still got a load of potential and this loss may be the best thing for his career. Sucks for him though HBO was knocking on his door and he may never get that chance again. Nice job Rubio you deserved the win.
Rubio is a tough veteran and perennial top 10 MW for the past few years. People win and lose in boxing, **** the *******s disrespecting both these guys.
I remember Shumenov looked like he was running on fumes by round six in both fights, but a big heart on Shumenov's part and a lack of power on Campillo's allowed him to survive.
David has to learn to throw some arm punches and to pick his shots.
He can't just constantly throw haymakers.
The only punches that weren't haymakers were the jabs and even those were hard.
That's right.
Its still better then Lemuiex who couldn't make it pass round 7.
That could be chin issue too.
But I think its a stamina issue.

Against Campillo, Shumenov showed awful stamina. It looked better against Uzelkov.

Beibut Shumenov-David Lemuiex have a lot in common.
They put everything into every punch.
Beibut has more stamina.
That's the big difference.
Really hard to fight 12 rounds like that.

... also let's give credit where credit is due. Rubio has been in with the best and while not always distinguishing himself, is no fool. To get possibly the best win of his career after 50-60 fights is deserving of our respect. This is the sport we love and boxers are the athletes we love. I hope he savours this win.
Great post. This was the biggest night of Rubio's career, show him some love.

Don't you know that here at NSB if you loose you are over-rated, a bum, old or shot.
He just needs to calm down. I picked him to win. I figured he'd get the stoppage, even. However, he was loading up on everything. Not just punches in the fight, but in his career.
Earlier, I was reading his interview on the main site and he was so far ahead of himself, that I started to worry. I'm not sure if he's overconfident or if he simply needs to work on keeping himself paced. Either way, I'd pick David in a rematch. Which I hope happens within the next year. It would serve him well to take a tune up and then give it another crack. Otherwise, with the way "fans" are today, this haunts him.

If you not only lose to Rubio but also stopped by him you shouldnt be taken seriously.
Defend him all you want but that was a piss poor outing vs a piss poor fighter.
Only a prime Pavlik and Ouma could beat Rubio(Not counting very early fights).
David is not elite.
But he's not a joke ether.
He's still has potential.
What he needs to do is to stop loading up on all his punches.
Its really hard to go 12 like that.
If you not only lose to Rubio but is stopped. I cant take him seriously.

I don't defend his flaws. He's 22 years old. His corner stopped it. He looked decent early on, he just struggled down the stretch and wasn't mentally all there. Rubio fought smart (and he's not piss poor).
If this was Manny Pacquaio vs Medgoen Singsurat in 1999 and he got stopped everyone would be in a frenzy about how Pacquiao was a bum and lost to an overrated Thailand hypejob.
Don't overreact please.
He was clearly winning the fight, but his inexperience showed the last 2 rounds. That doesnt mean Rubio is better or that Lemieux is a bum, it just means he didn't know what to expect and the experience overcame at the end.
The veteran plays it cool, lets the young killer punch himself out and stops him midway in a huge upset... I wonder if this pattern will persist across the weekend. I gave Rubio no chance and he proved me wrong. I also give Morales no chance....
Is this your opinion now or did you post this before? I don't remember you ever saying this before now.
