Ortiz has fought:
Lamont Peterson
Vivian Harris
Marcos Maidana
Nate Campbell
Antonio Diaz
Mike Arnaoutis
Berto has fought:
Carlos Quintana
Juan Urango
Luis Collazo
Steve Forbes
Mickey Rodriguez
David Estrada
I think it's close, which is surprising since Berto has been a champion for about 3 years.

I am surprised how many people picked Ortiz. I know we're all mad at Berto for his level of opposition since winning a belt, but Berto has definitely fought the better level of opposition. Ortiz lost to the best person on his list. Take away Peterson too since he technically had a draw with him (I thought Ortiz won). And I can't really give him much credit for Vivian Harris, I was pissed the commission let Harris fight someone like Victor at that point in his career.
Ortiz is left with Campbell Diaz & Arnaoutis. Berto's Collazo Urango & Quitanna are definitely better than that.
ortiz simply b/c he has beenfighting people in his wieghtclass. Berto needs an * or a WTF next to damn near alhis fights over thepast 3 years.
Actually, Victor Ortiz did not fight shot Antonio Diaz at Diaz's weight class. He fought him at a catweight. Victor Ortiz also fought Roberto Arrieta, who is a super featherweight at light welterweight. He is also fighting Andre Berto at a catchweight instead of Berto's weight class. Additionally, Ortiz came in over weight on scales for the fight against Lamont Peterson.
For those giving Ortiz crap for not finishing Peterson do you think Berto could have pulled it off? Knowing that Lamont is a bit more slick than Collazo and faster?
Yes. Andre Berto would have finished Lamont Peterson off. Victor Ortiz not only failed to finish Lamont Peterson off, but also got a gift draw.

I think that Berto's controversy best win of collazo is similar to Ortiz' draw with Peterson which Ortiz looked more dominant than Berto did against Collazo. I think they faught similar opposition, but the fact that Berto is a world champ with that resume makes him look awful. I like Berto, but Cotto finished quintana in rd 5 and P.Will got it done in round 1. Shows you that Berto's power is slightly overrated as he's known for a deadly "upper cut" yet Alexander a 140 pounder was able to KO Urango with his own. Not to mention Ortiz dropped Maidana 3 times due to clear shots to the chin, so I give Ortiz the edge on power. Berto has speed and volume, but he leaves so many gaps open, and Ortiz will find them. That's why I got Ortiz KO'ing Berto in round 4. Berto was one of my favorite fighters to lol
It was a great set up, that's all. Berto is still a much much better puncher than Alexander.

The fact that Berto,a world title holder of almost three years, has a resume comparable to that of a guy who's yet to actually beat a noteworthy contender himself is pretty shocking. In fact,it's an embarrassment for this sport.
Collazo is the only credible opponent that Berto has beaten in almost three years as a title holder. The Quintana that fought Berto clearly wasn't the same Quintana of old.The one that fought Berto no longer had any relevancy at that weight, and he had barely been active since he was taken out inside of one round by Paul Williams. So,yeah,Collazo remains the one and only legitimate contender that Berto has beaten in a professional career that has spanned over six years.
Lou DiBella has absolutely no confidence in Berto. He knows that his boy is very limited in terms of talent, and that once a genuine contender with a punch finds that fragile glass jaw of his, glass will be shattered.
I gave Collazo the nod in his fight with Berto.

It's close but I give the edge to Berto, because of Collazo and Quintana. I don't think Ortiz gets past those fighters, and at the very least has to put up the fight of his life against them.
With that said, I have have nothing against Ortiz and I hope he continues to do well. I believe Berto has faced the slightly better opposition though.
Ortiz stops both Collazo and Quintana.

I think Ortiz could beat both

Too close to call.
Yeah I think it depends on how you view the guys when they fought Ortiz or Berto. For instance, many think Quintana and Campbell were shot when they fought them.
