Disaster Fights

This is actually a good fight in my opinion.. Angulo is a much better fighter than he is given credit for. Martinez is the obvious favorite but not a disaster match up by any means. no way. it's a complete disaster and beatdown for sergio. I think he ko's angulo. BADLY. How is Angulo better than given credit for? he was soundly outboxed by Cintron and hasn't shown skill improvement since.

Paul Williams vs. Cotto at 147. Pavlik vs. Duddy. I could see Duddy becoming a vegetable in that fight.

Yeah I remember that Soto fight where Guzman turned completely sideways and literally ran circles around him, forward and backward. Made Soto look like he was fighting in quicksand. Damn waste of talent that should've stuck to the lower weights where his power was more of a factor. He went chasing the dough, and by dough, I mean foods consisting of white flour.

I still don't know how to put Ike Ibeabuchi in fantasy matchups. He looked good against Tua. I've heard he looked good against Byrd. I know Wlad was still suffering from leaky defense. I just don't know... I agree with the Winky one for sure... there was a reason that Oscar was never too keen to get that fight. Winky wasn't a big draw, meaning less profits, and I think Oscar kind of realized that style would have just been a headache to fight and the fight likely wouldn't have ended up with a W or a close decision loss either. Other than De La Hoya, and the carbon copy Mayweather fights, I don't remember too many of his fights being just wreck job executions. Well Gomez and Baldomir, but... yeah, quite past it at that point. Lol, him being past it and beating that Danish welter, 38-0 Damgaard says a lot about the quality of that fighter... how did he dig up 38 corpses without getting caught and being prosecuted for vandalism of a cemetery? Damgaard, Danish fighters lulz. Manfredy put if on Gatti pretty hard. Let's just say if Lamon did that to Wlad, Ike would have put him in the front row b4 getting locked up. Winky a headache? His jab and D would have been Sturm X 10 vs Dela. Dela's face would have looked like Joppy vs...Bhop (one of the worst bubble faces ever)

Guzman's win over Soto, who was a pretty good fighter, even back then (he was riding a long streak without a loss, including a fight against undefeated Jorge Solis that was stopped on an accidental headbutt for a no contest in the third round, which Soto dropped him in and giving Rocky Juarez his first loss... the Rocky Juarez who was more confident, more willing to let his hands go, and was a knockout force at the time), is one of the sexiest displays of boxing I've ever seen. The way he toyed with Soto, just walking around the ring, getting Soto totally off balance with a stutter step the other way, just to be an ******* and dominating the fight was just beautiful. It's even sweeter to remember knowing what a useless champion Soto has become at lightweight. I wish Guzman wouldn't have turned into a psychopath honestly, he was one hell of a fun fighter to watch before he just decided that making weight wasn't for him. Don't remind me :sad: Eh, it's not like he screwed it away in his prime. He was getting up there in age anyway. He had a long and successful amateur career (losing to Omar Narvaez at the Olympics :ugh:), plus held titles at two different weights, beating some name fighters, such as Soto and Barrios. It would have been nice if he could have kept it together for one more fight against Campbell though, because I really don't see a way that Campbell, who is technically solid and has some okay power as his only strengths was going to get anything going against super slick, awkward Guzman's style. One more weight division, as well as half of the lineal championship (alright not really, but you do have to elevate someone who unifies all the paper belts while the lineal champion, Casamayor, was in recess at the time) would have been a nice end to the serious part of Guzman's career.

Think of a fight where two guys campaigned at the same weight, at a level that keeps them at least relevant... bottom of the top ten. Who can come up with the biggest disaster/destruction? The one that came to mind tonight when watching Whitaker-Hurtado was... Whitaker vs. Gatti at 135. Others? Stop doing this to Gatti man, He was already involved in enough disaster fights.

No longer a fan of his, but Joan Guzman vs. Manny Pacquiao at 130, not gonna say destruction but it would have been a disaster in that Guzman wins, atleast in my opinion. Would have been a shock to many, not me though.
