kirkland: I dont even know who Maidana is (as he sits 3 feet away)

he doesnt mean any dissrespect by it., hes said in the past that he doesnt follow boxing at all. he says he just fights whoever ppl put in front of him but he doesnt even know who hold the belts in his own weightclass, he just fights whoever and starts watching tapes once the fight gets made. once he was asked if he was willing to fight alvarez and he said sure, they asked what adjustments he would make or something like that and he said he didnt know yet since he had no clue who alvarez was. lol. This is not far-fetched and let me tell you why, with another sport however. When I was younger, 15-16 years old, I went overseas to the Caribbean where i'm from, DR, to play baseball for a couple of years. My teammates of course are strictly Dominican, I was the only traveler there. Anyways, these guys played baseball since they were toddlers, and all they know is baseball. But one thing they didn't know one active baseball player or even about the history of the sport, in terms of names and records. But mind you, these guys grow up to play in the majors and be watched on TV but they couldn't tell you their favorite players name. James Kirkland might not be poor from the Carribean but he was once broke wasn't he, and lived in a car or something, or maybe i'm confusing him with the Petersons? Maybe all he knows is to box at the gym, and he feels it's a waste of time to look in to history or know who Erik Morales is or who Maidana is.

Taken big time outta context. He said it as in he's not a boxing fan thus not knowing any champs is normal. If he was a student of the game with a vast knowledge and then said that. He'd rather go back to prison than get in teh ring with Maidana, true story. I've only seen a few of Kirklands fights, but he would punch Maidanas head clean off his shoulders all day every day.
