His fight with Lewis was legendary, he destroyed Kirk Johnson in 2 rounds where he went straight at him aggressively and knocked him down twice and the second time the ref called the fight instead of counting, A very exciting fight with Corrie Sanders, and finished with the complete destruction of Danny Williams. So did the people who say the Klitschko's are boring watch these fights? All 4 fights were in the U.S. for packed audiences as well.
I like the lower weight classes, I mean I can appreciate a healthy Chris John even, and I definitely understand why people think Donaire is exciting, and Floyd is one of my favorite boxers, but to me the HW division is far more exciting, theres something about no one being able to beat them inthe world. Like as good as a lower weight fighter is, theres always that, "well some guys 10 lbs heavier would work them". I like the "come as you are" nature of the HW division. So to me there is nothing as exciting as watching Vitali and Lewis slug it out, or Round 3 of Vitali vs. Sanders, or the complete annihilation of a very good Kirk Johnson, or his merciless beating of Danny Williams (although I must admit my favorite part of that fight is hearing Williams's corner encourage a guy who was getting beaten to death in the ring.) To me those 4 fights, all in the U.S. were incredibly exciting fights, with lots of punches, hardly any clinches outside of the Lewis fight and some huge huge moments.
It's a matter of preference.
I'm a huge fan of guys like Jeff Chandler, Prince Naseem, Erik Morales, Manny Pacquiao ect. but I don't like the lower weight class guys anywhere as near as much as I like heavyweight boxing. Of course the guys in the lower weight classes smash each other with more bombs; their punches are no where near as hard! Some fat guy at a bar beat the **** out of Ricky Hatton a while back. Heavyweight fighters' punches are usually serious business.

You got it mixed, Ricky WAS the fat guy!

Most exciting Heavyweight? Yes.
Most exciting boxer in the world?
Hell
to
the
No.
Gatti, Morales, Pacquiao...hell, James Toney in his 03 campaign (partly at Heavyweight)...all more exciting.
And I think a lot people prefer two whales wailing on eachother over 2 midgets karate chopping eachother.
I always prefer the tops fighters at the lower weight than fighters at Heavyweight. Vitali was bad ass then and I still like him now.
Vitali wasnt even the most exciting HW. Lamon Brewster and Wladimir were both more exciting.
old Wladimir was great to watch. offensive machine.
now hes a LOT more reserved...although its the smart thing to do.

In that two year period, Manny Pacquiao rose from the canvas to stop Serikzhan Yeshmagambetov later on, stopped Emmanuel Lucero with a perfect left hand, bludgeoned Marco Antonio Barrera for 11 rounds, had that exciting draw with Juan Manuel Marquez, and stopped 3K Battery with some really nice uppercuts.
Erik Morales had 3 very good fights in 2004 alone, including the FOTY against Barrera.
Any world in which Manny Pacquiao existed, Vitali was not the most exciting boxer. That was around the time he was stomping Barrera into the ground and having his first fight with Marquez. That's more exciting than any fight Vitali was in.
I could probably look back and find others too, but I'll leave it at that.
Yeah but Freddie Roach was in Vitali's corner then.
Didnt like his fight with Danny Williams, his punches looked awkward and clumsy.
Vitali Klitschko in the 90's was a great skilled talented boxer.
Wlad was better too way back before he changed his style. Watching some of his older fights are fun.

Also Vitali seems much better now at fighting off the back foot, using body shots, and not bending the left knee so much. He fights taller now and he seems even bigger in the ring.
vitali was obviously better at boxing before the 4 year off thing, but he can still whoop any young heavyweight in the world now
oh i agree, although i wouldnt even say obviously better. Vitali has lost some speed, but he seems to be even smarter now, and better at utilizing his strengths while exploiting opponents weaknesses, but I just mean exciting. In 2003/2004 were any of the haters calling Vitali boring? Is anyone going to step up and call the Lewis, Sanders, Johnson, Williams fights boring?
