1. Vitali is a notoriously slow starter.
2. Solis just went 10 rounds a few months ago, while weighing almost 15 pounds more.
Anyone know the odds on this fight?

Damn Solis......taking old Vitali lightly I see. Big mistake man, I think Vitali beats Solis by Rd 7....dude looks soft and even if he can outbox Vitali for a while, he will tire and eat some rights that put him down.
Vitali KO/TKO Rd 7.
He is still a sloppy fat mess. Disgraceful. Even worse than most parties because of how much talent he started with.
This fight blows. Bring on wlad-haye or vit-adamek so I can see two good fighters in the ring, in shape, again. I hate this ish
Wow. I think this fight will prove to be tougher than the others you mentioned. But I definitely see where you're coming from.
If any of you have been following Solis' carreer from the start you would know that the weight gain was intentional.
In all of his early fights he was unable to get rid of his opponents, or muscle them around as easily as he wanted to and even said in an after-fight interview that he was going to add weight.
As soon as he did, he's knocking out and bullying opponents easily, as the size fits in with his style of moving fighters into the corner of the ring and then unloading on them.
I think most of the weight added as in the shoulders (although he definitely added so fat to his frame as well). The Austin fight was the only one that didn't impress me. Even at 270 in the Barrett fight he looked deadly.
What they did here, is they probably changed the focus of his training for this fight, which probably had the effect of cutting some of the fat from his frame.
This 246/247 weight is probably perfect for him.
Call me crazy if you want: TKO Solis.
First of all he has been 250 - 270 in the pros, so he has been consistently fat in the PROS
Secondly, muscle weighs more than fat. Taking that fact into account, if Solis would have trained properly, he could have gained weight, looked more threatening to his opponents, have better endurance and have even more power and strength.
Uhh...I love these people mentioning certain ripped guys from the past and certain fat guys today.
Uhh..you nostalgic, repetitive morons ever hear of Riddick Bowe or Buster Douglas or Buster Mathis...or pretty much anyone named Buster.
Some fat guys Vitali recently fought:

GOD THEY ARE ALL SO FAT...The way they all have 6 pack well defined abs...GOD THERES SO MUCH FAT.
Heavyweights are packing on more weight these days, a lot of it is muscle, some guys, mainy arreola, solis, and fast eddie come to mind really just pack on whatever weight they can find because 1. they are trapped, they are naturally around the CW level, but theres no money there, and theyre too small to be really fit at HW. and 2. They can get away with it because they all 3 have naturally fast hands and reflexes. They are that 2nd or third tier fighter, there have been guys like that forever in boxing.
interesting, so you think that Solis being in bad shape will not effect his ability to perform in the fight? I see.
or perhaps you just wanted to turn any and every Klitschko topic into a jerk off session?

Completely untrue. Solis weighed 258.5lbs in his first pro fight, check boxrec. Dude just got fat.

The Klit's are great fighters and deserve all the success they have accomplished but I'm not going to give the Klit bros credit for having "serious discipline". Worldclass athletes are supposed to have serious discipline when it comes to training no matter what sport you're in.
Yeah, but how many do? They deserve credit for staying in great shape year round, which fewer fighters do these days. It shows a true respect for the sport and their condition, and that deserves credit. The fans never have to question what kind of shape they will be in. Kudos to Vitali especially for coming back to boxing in top shape after sitting out for several years.

The difference about solis and most fighters is that other fighters put on healthy weight beetween fights.
Solis is just soft in the mid-section. He doesnt just have excess weight. He carries too much fat. He needs to do some fkn sit ups or something.
Yes that might be the best shape hes been in a long time. but that in no way is the best shape and conditioning he can achieve.
I still like his chances. He got power , very underrated speed. And is a hell of a boxer too.
But I would like to see him committed. I dont think he is really devoted 100%
Guys this is a guy was an amateur cruiserweight. He should be 225 at the heaviest. I just don't see the power and speed for him to do much with Vitali. He should get stopped in the middle to late rounds.
I think his defense and handspeed is going to give Vitali problems...He's got decent power too.

Well he has trained a bit harder this time. He probably was in th 270's before he started his training camp. He was never going to lose all that weight and turn up in the best shape in one camp. He left it too late to take his training seriously.
Yes he would probably have been best taking that fat off over a one year span and cutting his weight in each fight. he should be sub 225lb imo.
amazing how everyone is actually praising Solis for still being fat and seemingly out of shape
