I fully expect the same or worse, Cotto has been bum fighting and has not improved one bit. Margarito has this fight and this fight only to secure his legacy and make some money, I expect he will be willing to do whatever he has to in order to win. Although it's a Top Rank fight Margarito may do as he's told, if this is a real fight Cotto is in big trouble. I hate Margarito, so this isn't hate on Cotto or love for Tony in any way, i just have no faith that Cotto can handle it mentally.
I think Cotto has improved on his endurance since the first fight, now has he overcome the mental aspect of losing to Margarito? I think he has. My pick is Cotto by split decision after overcoming some rocky moments in the later rounds.
Comes down to if his wraps were clean the first time around and how much effect they had
If they were, he'll have to much for Cotto even with Cotto's improved boxing
If they weren't, Cotto might be able to last it out this time around... and finish off the fight the way he started the first.
Come on people, Cotto looked great last night, He had a bigger and stronger elite fighter in front of him and took him apart!! No one has ever beat Mayorga so bad as Cotto!! I think Cotto has got all kinds of new skills and movement now that Steward is training him. Cotto will make Margarito lood like amateur and will make Margarito break his hands on His head!! WAR COTTO!!!!!!!!!
If you look at both of their performances against Pacquiao, you'd have to give Margarito the edge because he's still got better stamina and can take more punishment on top of having the type of style that is Cotto's kryptonite. The interesting thing about this fight is though that they both are considered battle torn. I guess I wouldn't mind seeing it although I think the beating that Pac gave Margarito will make Cotto look like a slug if he don't get the job done in the rematch like some of his fans think he will.
Cotto needs to take his time and jab the **** out of Margo for the first 4 or five rounds.
I would tell him not to even throw a right hand or hook(Maybe a few hooks to the body and a couple rights to the head)
Conserve your energy.
Then fight your fight from the 6th round on.
Make sure to avoid the uppercut and stay of the ropes.
Easy UD.
Easier said then done.
I thought Cotto was boxing Margarito's head off in the first fight, until the wraps started taking their toll. Emmanuel will make Cotto a better boxer than before I feel, I think it'll be just like the Mayorga fight personally, a 10-2 type lopsided fight with a lot of tense and exciting moments. Margarito is simply a worse fighter than Mayorga, he has less power, worse footwork and much slower hands.
I pretty much agree with this assessment, except maybe a closer fight.
Even though Cotto is my favorite active fighter, I didn't see the improvements to change the outcome of an eventual fight against Margarito. I hope he shows me otherwise.
To be honest I loved what steward is doing with cotto, bring back the old cotto with that being said styles make fights, margarito has the style that gives cotto problems if cotto goes to the body early and fights smart like he last night he could make it very easy for himself in the later rounds cotto late stoppage body shot or split decision, but definietly an epic fight
