I just now finished watching the HBO card I DVR'd after the PPV and I enjoyed every minute of all 6 fights tonight.
Did anyone else really enjoy tonights fights as much as I did. Vazquez-Zappavigna was an average fight but it wasn't horrible, Zbikowski got the expected 1st round KO, Wolak-Foreman was an absolute one-sided war that was extremely fan friendly, the only way Cotto-Mayorga could have been more exciting was if Mayorga would have pulled out the win somehow, I put Lee in his deathbed but then he comes back and gets a beautiful KO, and then Sergio looks amazing against Dzinziruk even though Dzinzirik did do some good work right before the multiple knockdowns to end the fight.
This night had knockouts, knockdowns, and extremely entertaining fights.
Can't ask for much more and I hope you all had a good evening.
Definitely a great night for Boxing. :boxing:
Kind of wish it was spaced out a bit better though, kind of annoying trying to watch 2 fights at once, but it worked out.
Andy Lee really surprised me. About round 5 I'm thinking "Damn I really want to see McEwan vs Brian Vera" and then Lee just rises up and stomps on him.
McEwan and Vera have already fought.
Tonight on HBO was a great night of action. Dizzy didn't just come to laydown and Martinez looked good as hell. Lee's fight was awesome, him vs Jacobs would be a great crossroads fight. Lee vs Jacobs and Martinez vs Pirog. Let's make that doubleheader for August :boxing:
Boy, Dzin sure did screw up by trying to trade with Martinez.
I'm gonna give Dzinziruk credit. He realized he wasn't going to win doing what he was doing. He took a chance. Maybe that's what led to him getting TKO'd instead of losing a wide UD, but he wasn't going to win doing what he was doing.

I was thinking the same. After the 4th I thought there was no way Lee's confidence would rise again, especially in a quick 10 round fight. McEwan gave Lee all he could handle and was really surprised that Lee rose up and showed tremendous heart down the stretch to overcome a big deficit and knockout McEwan. Really a terrific fight.
Martinez impressed the hell out of me. I thought before the fight that there's no way Martinez is getting through the guard of Dzinziruk to seriously hurt him in any way. I thought the fight was going to be similar to Pacquiao-Clottey in that Dzinziruk would be overwhelmed by the power and output of Martinez and keep his hands up. Boy, Dzin sure did screw up by trying to trade with Martinez.
Cotto is on the verge of being knocked out again. The speed is gone at 154. The fire is gone. Top Rank has to be careful on who they choose to take Cotto's star power away for the final time. I was bored watching a one sided sparring session. I wish a Paul Williams or Andre Berto would get the chance to increase their status in boxing by getting the shot against Cotto, but I know it's never going to happen because of Top Rank.
Overall it was a good night for boxing.
Very predictable night as far as winners go, but the outcomes were the surprising part.
Every one thought Martinez would just UD Dzinziruk, he kncoed him down 4times, the first 4 knock downs of Dzinziruk's career, and got the TKO8.
Then you had Lee vs McEwan, a fight that Lee should have won more easily, on paper, instead he had a hard time and scored a come from behind TKO which surprised me.
I thought both cards ended up bein' very enjoyable over all.
Was really impressed w/Martinez and his Roy Jones imitation. I don't think Dzunziruk looked bad at all, Martinez is just way bad ass right about now...
Lookin' forward to seein' more of Pawel Wolack.
I thought Cotto looked good against a well prepared Mayorga and with Manny in his corner, he might surprise alot of folks with how much more mileage he'll get out of his career.
Finally, all of you sniveling nancy-boys that like to whimper and make threads about "boxing is dying", etc. can take a flying fvck at a fast rolling donut. You're nothin' but drama-queens.
Really good night of boxing.
You had the comeback mid-fight with Lee. In a fight that was good in the first place. You had the domination of Foreman, with Wolak pulling off the upset. You had Cotto and Mayorga trying to knock the **** out of each other, but with Cotto still looking pretty decent. You had a good opener with Vazquez and Zappa. You got to see a football player beat up a fat guy which was good for a laugh. You got to see Martinez shine like he has lately. You got to see a really impressive night of boxing.
Good **** all around.
hell yea, great night of boxing. fun entertaining fights all around from the sound of it, and I havent even watched all of them yet.
Which of the 6 haven't you seen yet?
lol I did the same exact thing as you tonight Kevin and enjoyed every second of it. I could not believe Andy Lee came back and won that fight he showed so much heart in that fight I know he showed a ton of flaws as well but he was straight up getting his ass whooped 2-5 and just said I am not going to lose this fight.
