Sergio Martinez IS the #1 p4p fighter right now. He has beaten all top young opposition in rapid succession and in spectacular fashion.
No old washed up fighters or fighters that are smaller than him. Or weight stipulations that make a mockery of a title fight.
The other thought is that today the commentators were really on Roy's nuts tonight. Comparing him constantly with Sergio. I like Roy as a person he seems ok. BUT....
Sergio is a much better fighter than Roy ever was. Even at this age with the recognition he still wants to fight real challenges.
The funny part is that pacquaio was the only fighter that can truely said they clearly beat clottey.
Just imagine if pacquaio fought Berto and whoop his ass....seeing how they discredit his marg, morrales, hatton, clottey and cotto wins with ease that i know for sure Berto will be labeled as bum since he is nowhere near as accomplished as those fighters.
Margarito cleary beat Clottey 8 rounds to 4, IMO. I've never heard anyone say Clottey won that fight either. The fight was competitive, but Margarito cleary won it.
If Berto fought Pac I would give Pac credit. Berto is the 3rd best Welterweight out there and if the top 2 guys aren't fighting then one of them should be going after Berto, IMO. People will always find a way to discredit ALL top fighters. It's just part of being ontop. Floyd, Pac, Klitschko...They all have a ton of hater who are always trying to discredit every single win they get.

Seriously. If you look at his 3 notable wins. Nothing you can't say anything about them being a lineal champ, a multiple divisions champion, HOF, considered an ATG.
Welterweight -
Light Middleweight -
Middleweight - Dzinziruk undefeated but so did Golovkin, Sbik, N'Jikam, Lemieux, etc. and being undefeated doesn't mean you are great HOF fighter specially when people ask you. Who did he beat?
Pavlik a good win but who did he beat after his loss to Hopskins?
Williams beat him before so its just kinda even right now.
So his case being P4P# 1 pointing to his two wins against Palvik and Dzinziruk. beside when did he became a p4p# 3 when he beat Palvik? then became no. 2 after he beat Williams? then finally became p4p# 1 after he beat Dzinziruk? WTF! These people hyping Martinez being a P4P# 1 they must be smoking some crack. I can't imagine they completely bypassing other fighters who worked so hard in their ranks.:spank:
Sergio is good but hes not the worthy enough to be mentionn among the greats he has long way to go. Everyone expect him to win against this guy that round 8 is enough to convince me that he is hittable and still need more skills to improve
**** the first paul william fight was enough to see that he is hittable since paul williams is nowhere near as skilled.
The problem against martinez opponent is that martinez is such a good counter puncher and he throws them with bad intention.
Pac should be fighting Martinez in May, not Mosley.
Why pac should be fighting fighters above his weight class. martinez himself said the fight would'nt be fair because pacquaio cant even make 150.
I love that ever since pacquaio beat Cotto, Margarito, Hatton, and clottey that they all became bums. Its not like Andre Berto is even better than Cotto, Marg or clottey since he ducked both marg and clottey.
Pacquaio vs Martinez is stupid fight for pacquaio because 147 is his max weight class that he can actually be competitive with and he already came from 106 something none of this generation of boxer havent done but yet you all want him to move up in a weight that even he said he wasnt comfortable with to fight the number 2p4p fighter in the world.
At the end of the day. And what is sad that pacquaio has the best resume out of all the active fighters out now outside of Hopkins but yet some reason he is a cherry picker even though nobody outside of hopkins resume is close to his. Martinez has step up his competition lately, but love how people bash the hatton win especially when Pavlik got his ass whoop worst against Hopkins than Hatton did against floyd.
Martinez is one of my favorite fighters....but outside of Paul Williams(who he lost against in the first fight...something pacquaio hasnt done since Morales 1) who is just a big as a win as Cotto.
I just love how pacquaio is a cherry picker even though he is basically about to clean up 147. Berto and Floyd is the only fighter left at 147 worth fighting.....except one hasnt fought a top 10 welterweight yet but he owns a belt for some reason and the other one is on vacation. It got to the point people want pacquaio to fight martinez even though they are not in the same weight class.
So when pacquaio vs hatton was a 50/50 fight, oscar vs pacquaio was a total mismatch that oscar cherry picked a light weight who only had one fight above 130, or how bout cotto which was all 50/50 fight which pacquaio all dominated but yet people got the nerve to discredit all those wins. And then lets not start that Clottey at the time when pacquaio fought was the number 4 ranking welterweight since floyd was not signing the fight, and mosley vs berto was happening which just leave clottey for pacquaio. Again who should pacquaio fought instead of clottey. The funny part is that pacquaio was the only fighter that can truely said they clearly beat clottey.

Sergio was excellent again, i thought it was a dumb fight for him because although i thought he'd win on points he would look ordinary at times and the fight would be dull and uneventful BUT..... The man looked spectacular again and i wouldnt have a problem with anyone saying he was the best and the reasons u give are why but for me THE best fighter on the planet is still Floyd Mayweather.
My p4p top 5 goes
Mayweather
Pacquaio
Martinez
Ward
Donaire
And every spot is tight
On another note - BEHAVE! Roy Jones? Com'on man Roy was EXTRA Special and way better than Sergio
Sergio is good but hes not the worthy enough to be mentionn among the greats he has long way to go. Everyone expect him to win against this guy that round 8 is enough to convince me that he is hittable and still need more skills to improve
It's easy not to "duck anyone", when you're calling out smaller fighters. Move up in weight Sergio. Watching you fight Pac at 150-154 or you going lower for a catch weight fight is bull****.
He has moved up in weight. He's at 160. You want him to go to 168?

you know why?? hmmm lets see, yeah right... he cant afford it. he need s to fight and fight now hes not getting any younger he needs the money for his nest egg. he needs to create hype for himself to attract $$$ fights.
martinz and pacquiao are both the most consistent fighters around today
we need more fightsers like that to lift the game
you never know roy might come out of retirement to fight him
this is his 3rd win in a row...

SO MUCH FAIL HERE... but let me see if I can straighten you out.

Dzinziruk is a young 35, huh?

Sergey is 35 and hasn't fought at MW in a decade (156 was the most he weighed before tonight). He fought Sergio for a f*cking diamond belt at MW. Yup young fighter, no weight disadvantage, for a legitimate title shot...

Not even going to bother :lol1:
