One who thought cotto looked beautiful tonight? Nice jab , good balance, improved defense. Seriously it looked as if cotto was playing with mayorga , or mayorga was boxing the air. I for one do not think cotto is washed up!
Actually, I like Cotto but he looked like ****. Mayorga had 0 energy from the get go. And he got hit a ton by him. Even dazed a little.
Tyson was right it was 2 guys afraid to get hurt in there and in the end the man that should have destroyed the other looked just barely ok and in danger a few times.
I agree, and I also like Cotto, but Mayorga was gassed after the third round and only fighting in weak bursts. Cotto should have had his way with him after about the 4th round.

What fight did these haters watch? No it wasnt exactly a thing of beauty but I didnt think Cotto was in any trouble plus he knocked himout. Damn what did he have to do? Mayorga looked like he actually took this fight seriously because he knew when to use his feet. Cotto took his time like he was supposed to against a free swinger that was in good shape.
Great observation
Cotto displayed some head movement. He kept Mayorga at the end of his punches and boxed very well.
That said, Cotto was still getting hit by a lot of punches and seemed to slow down after about the 6-7th round. Hate to say it, but still not sure if Cotto could handle Marg, definately not Pac.
Well, I think Cotto's face would disagree. Nonetheless, the fact he struggled at all against a 38 year old, semi-retired whose last meaningful win was probably about ten years ago, is not looking beautiful.
Looking beautiful against that type of opponent (ie. someone who is easy to hit, counter and box) is going in and plastering him within four or five rounds without getting a scratch on your face. Like past prime Oscar did to a prime Mayorga and Tito did too.
Cotto looked nearly as bad as Mosley did.
Wow, .....how could you even thi....just wow.
Cotto fought a well disciplined fight and at a smart pace. Boxing this way will prevent some of the endurance issues down the stretch from past fights.
He showed patience and poise. Nothing about his performance points to "shot." Only a rookie would make such a claim. He fought a SMART fight and took his time until he landed that shot that made Mayorga's brain run into his thumb for 5 seconds. Mayorga was spooked by that sensation.
Buahahahahahaha :boxing::boxing::boxing:

You're an idiot.
Cotto is much smaller than both Tito and Oscar, who both had reach advantages and height advantages. Mayorga couldn't impose his size on them, but he could to Cotto. Cotto is only 5'7, so he had to keep the fight close, letting Mayorga get good shots.
Cotto gave up like 2 rounds...Shane was about to lose the fight, if the 12th did not end up like it did. Again, to reiterate

I agree with all of the above.
Cotto looked good, but he's just too short...he needs to go back to Welterweight. At 154, the guys are too big and absorb his punches much better. At 147, his power is still lethal.
Mayorga though gave a good effort
He hurt Mayorga several times during the fight and made him quit because of wicked left hook that took all the fight out of him. Nothing happened to his hand...
Cotto looked nearly as bad as Mosley did.
And so has everyone whos fought Mayorga..That is untill they hey knocked him out of course which is the story of his life lol....Ultimately i feel Cotto did what he had to do against a bigger wildly swinging man..

Are you kidding me? He was fighting a shot _MAYORGA_. There may be some subtle improvements due to Steward but I still see him losing to Pac, Marg and Martinez.
