Wasn't a total robbery, but still a bad decision. It was a close fight that De Leon should have won. And 99-91 was disgusting. No one did enough in that fight to get a score like that.
I thought De Leon would have got the nod. 96-94.
Broner clearly won. I had it the same as that one judge that scored it 99-91, based on the fact that Broner is undefeated and a meaningless prospect that will hold on to his undefeated record as long as possible until he can cash out and then become a journeyman or retire.
that is the correct criteria for scoring boxing matches.
Lederman had it right. 96-94. 6 rounds to 4. Rounds 1-3 was def De Leon. 4,5,6,7 were Boner's. But then 8, 9, 10 were De Leon based on activity. Sure, Boner had the more clean effective punches BUT his activity was **** and hell, in Round 9 and 10...he wasn't even throwing much at all. How can you win a round by not really throwing much of anything at all?
Boner won't make it when he fights higher level of competition though.
I had Broner winning 96-94 and wanted Ponce to win. I was watching that fight with my uncle who has trained boxers for close to 30 years and he was saying even though Broner is not exciting you really have to admire his boxing skills.
he didnt look good to me. he was fighting a smaller and slower guy. i wonder how he will look agaisnt decent guys in that weight.:boxing:
Broner won, landed the more effective punches, was way more accurate, and making de Leon miss with the jab the entire night, Broner will definitely need to.step his pace up in upcoming fights. the 99-91 scorecard I mean we have seen this before, the judge was focused on Broner more than ponce. But Broner did win 96-94
I would not have call it a robbery but I thought Ponce De Leon won. Broner got skills, he tries to fight like Mayweather but he was not exciting to watch.
Ponce was connecting his left hook to the body clearly the 1st 3 four rounds and ended the last 3 rounds connecting more. That will win fights anywhere, but not Saturday night.
Maybe if they would of made it a tide and set up a rematch it would of flew with me, but the 99-91 card was set before the fight.
I had De Leon winning by a point or two. It's unfortunate he can't box for **** though.
Can't say i'll be going out of my way to ever see Broner fight again.
