What if boxing had a commisioner that had absolute rule and had the final say on what changes that could be made to boxing.
Say that there was a new commisioner and it could be you. What changes would you make to the sport of boxing.
For example would you get rid of a few corrupt Alphabet organzations or get rid of a few divisions.
Post with your ideas of how you would make changes and why you would make those changes.
id penalised whoever refuses to fight under commision rules, like testing,etc....no catchweights title fight or not.....4 belts is (nothing more)ok becuase of the amount of boxers deserving title shots at a time...unification of titles is mandatory tho ...
I would get rid of the WBA because they screw over all these young boxers that pay sanction fees for bogus belts. And the WBC because they favor certain fighters and give high ranking and title shots to underseving fighters. I'd keep the IBF and WBO along with the ring magazine. And would cut the divisions down to 13 divisions
heavyweight 200+
cruiserweight 199
light heavyweight 180
super middleweight 170
middleweight 160
welterweight 150
light welterweight 140
lightweight 135
featherweight 130
bantamweight 125
flyweight 120
light flyweight 112
strawweight 106
I'd take out light middleweight, super featherweight, super bantamweight, & super flyweight. Putting 10 pounds above light welterweight and pounds below lightweight
Why do you have light Flyweight and Flyweight 8 pounds difference. But, the divisions between Flyweight all the way to light welterweight 5 pounds difference?
That really makes no sense IMO.
I don't even like your weight-class scenario because it's changing the original 8.
You can't touch and change the original 8 weight-classes. That would be horrendous. It's history man.

you all got good suggestions... here's mine in addition to yours
- if a boxer cuts his opponent with headbutts in his last 5 fights, said boxer is automatically suspended for half a year
- excessive holding and clinching will get a boxer suspended for half a year
- force alphabet orgs to recognize a standardized ranking system
- more tournaments in the vein of the bantamweight tourney and the super six
Two belts for every division so we can still have epic unification bouts. No catchweights for championship bouts. Two sanctioning bodies. Less divisions.
