if 1 fighter throws 1000 punches and lands 100 and the other throws 300 and lands 150

Landed punches are pretty close so I would be looking at who gave the harder shots. But if I base it on those numbers only, I would give it to the more active fighter.

you can land 1000 punches i can land one and knock you out... the emphasis is on clean effective punching the numbers dont really matter, if you land 100 out of 1000 and i land 150 of 400 the more effective punches (the ones that hurt) win the round. anything else is a toss up.

With Floyd being 41-0 I think that proves quite easily that throwing fewer but landing more is an effective strategy in boxing. calzaghe was 46-0(better) and he thew a lot but landed few thus proving that is the most effective strategy in boxing.

(lol) It was pretty obvious this thread was about Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr. after the recent quote by Al Bernstein (even though Larry may deny it). Although the Devon Alexander vs. Andriy Kotelnik fight is a great example of this. :lol1: But the man who threw the cleaner effective punches should win, activity alone should not win fights in my opinion. Voted 300 and 150 under the assumption that both fighters both landed good power shots, and both were fairly consistent(IE; the guy who landed 150 didn't land an improportionate amount of his shots in 1 round). 10% connect percentage is freaking pathetic. 1 out of every 10 punches land. In comparison the other guy lands 5 out of every 10 of his. On a pure numbers basis IMO the person landing more will stand out. He'd have to if he landed 50% of his shots, and the other person is landing 1 punch out of 10.
