Am I the only one who thinks people are overeacting to this win?

This dude is hellarious. Nobody impresses him but Floyd and PWill. Just stop hating and be a boxing fan for a change. Donaire put on a spectacular performance. It's okay for people to be wowed and excited.

Have any of you people even heard of Donaire or seen him fight before this? Did anyone watch Hasegawa outbox Montiel until the KO? At first I thought the fight would be a war. But the more of Doanire and Montiel past fights I watched I knew it would be a slaughter in Donaires favor. People are overrating Donaire and Montiel. Dopnaire is a great fighter but slow down people. Montiel was in over his head. I have tremendous repsect for Donaire but I totally agree that everyone is over-reacting to this win. He should be in the top ten P4P maybe but to put him above THE FOLLOWING IS A JOKE. Martinez whom Max Kellerman wants to put down last night because hes taking another tough fight. I thanks thats what the boxing fans want and what we expect from the P4P number three in the world. Unlike Manny HBO forces Martinez to fight a tough challenger. Marquez the undisputed lightweight champion who cant get Manny to get in the ring with him to save his life. Soon and very soon everyone will start to see Manny for what he really is and thats a cherry picker. He should easile be able to dust off Marquez now but he wants no part of the fight and now only wants to fight Mosley after Floyd destroyed him and he drew with the latin grass snake. it's been a long time since anybody scored a highlight reel one punch knockout over an eventual hall of famer at 118 lbs bantamweights just dont hit like that but once in a blue moon he's a special talent and an absolutely lethal man roy jones calls him the most talented young fighter he's seen in the last ten years when you're ringside for events like that you tend to say that sort of thing if you want to recall a bantamweight with a bone crunching hook like that you have to go back very far and i still think donaires hardest punch is his right hand (which he launches like a big man)

No it was a good win and ko. People are just making to big a deal about how great Donaire is going to be just because of this one win.

This is what i hate about this forum,before the fight,everybody was saying its the best fight that can be made in the division,they are the two best at bantam easily,before the fight alot of experts where calling it a 50/50 fight or 60/40 in Donaire's favor,before the fight Montiel hadnt lost for like 5 years,was on a KO streak,had one of the best years out of all fighters in 2010,and his only 2 losses coming by way of SD,Donaire made it look easy and blew him out the water,i think we shud credit donaire on knocking out an elite level fighter,remember,alot of people rank Abner Mares high,but he struggled with Darchinyan,who Donaire also blew out the water Yep, that's NSB.

Overreacting? It's not just that he beat Montiel, its the way he did it. It was in spectacular fashion! While this fight alone doesn't answer all the questions about Donaire, if you have seen him over the years, you can clearly see that he had the potential.

I think donaire is rated rightfully, the guy has skills and he beat a very good fighter last night. However, people do go a little overboard with the excitement after a fight here a lot of the times.

I knew Donaire would win and Montiel was in over his head, but I was not expecting a KO like that. Donaire is the goods, though I can understand people saying to slow down with calling him some P4P king. At least before he has moved up in weight.

I give Donaire a lot of props, he won big and it was very impressive. I personally don't tend to read too much into such a quick KO because it usually means that the guy who was KO'd wasn't as prepared as he should have been. Definately looking forward to the next Donaire fight though, very well done by his part, especially closing the show after the first KD.

People overreact to every win, as long as the guy's not black lol. True story too! Maybe its the "slick african american style" that just doesnt excite the fans enough in order to overreact to it. Most fans (especially the casuals) want to see an action packed fight. Not a display of "tag you're it"

I didn't see anything special about Montiel, he was slow, short, easy to hit, telegraphed his punches, no power, Donaire couldn't have had an easier opponent.

Donaire is a cheat always came in 15 to 20 pounds heaiver than his opponents when he was a flywieght than he hires Steroid chemist Victor Conte You do know he only rehydrated 8 pounds for this fight? Montiel out-weighed him in the ring last night by like 10 pounds or more. I surely thought he was going to rehydrate more than 8 pounds kudos to his team(Even though they had to delay the weigh-in so he could make weight).
