When great fighters face each other someone has to lose. The winner is the GOAT and the loser shouldn't be thrown in the trash. When two elite fighters faceoff no matter the outcome both should retain their status and not lose too much stock. We see it too many times in boxing fans/analyst Williams/Martinez and Bradley/Alexander are good examples. IMO Juanma Lopez should not jump ahead of the loser by just standing pat. This may be apart of the reason we don't get fights we want to see because we trash fighters after losing.
For me, both stay top 10 contenders after a loss, but a lot of others would probably scratch Donaire from their lists if he loses because of the unspectacular resume after Darchinyan (although the Sidirenko win was very impressive and underrated).
I think it was different with Alexander and Williams, because those two had big question marks before their losses to Bradley and Martinez already and then got dominated.
If they both put on sh*tty performances (like Bradley and Alexander) they should both be removed from the top 10. So no, they should not both automatically be in the top 10 if they dont deserve it.
I would tend to agree but Donaire hasn't fought real competition yet since his impressive KO over Vic which is frustrating because he's such a talented fighter. Montiel has been awesome lately and I would still take nothing away from him if he loses, he's earned huge respect for going over Japan and winning in such a incredible fashion.
this right here. they just put donaire up there on the list based on his performance against unknown opponents. if anything, this fight is more of just a test if donaire is indeed worthy of his spot right now. simply put, he needs to win to retain his spot, not to advance (unless it's an extremely dominant win).
montiel has alot to gain winning this fight, and almost nothing to lose.

depends on how the fight goes down.
it depends on a lot of factors and one of them is how the fights are fought, I do remember Manny fighting Marco, Eric & Juan Manuel for the first times going 1-1-1, he remain on the p4p top 10 and Marco and Eric also remained their for sometime ...
depends how the fight goes. If one of them gets mutilated one sidedly, then theyre going to drop off the list.
to be honest I dont see why Donaire is there in the first place. Adamek deserves to be in p4p lists.
Montiel deserves to be there though.
If it's a hard fought 12 round decision (won't be), then yeah. If Cochulito gets blitzed in two rounds (he probably won't), then he shouldn't. If Donaire wins spectacularly (probably will) he should go to number 3.
