Not just the best fight but the biggest bout between stars of the game? Boxing fans are lucky where I live because we have the two casinos (Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods) PLUS NYC, Atlantic City and Philadelphia within driving distance...
i have family there thats why we were there, there were alot of boxing fans there but were out numbered by people who just wanted to see something new
they said a lot of people didnt even seem to know when to clap? reaction to the KO was nothing like it would have been had it been in the USA (???)...
B-Hop vs. Tarver
Was in Vegas for PBF vs DLH but couldn't get a good ticket so I watched it on closed circuit.
Mark "Too Sharp" Johnson saw him a few times doesn't get the credit he deserves
im trying to figure out why that is such a suprise to you???? iv ben to japan 8times
Well...I dont know you for one is all...and other than reporters I never heard anyone on a message board or someone from in the game say they made the trip over...not many real boxing fans can say they were there for that one I suspect....they say many in the crowd didnt seem to even really be boxing fans???
I don't mean competition, I mean in terms of showing your superiority over your opponent.
Name one more dominant shut-out.
Hopkins Pavlik
SRL Duran II
Hopkins Trinidad
The night the UK's Own Ricky The Hitman Hatton became The Man at 140 by defeating the legendary Kostya Tszyu! Fever Pitch atmosphere in there it was, an absaloute Cauldron! Good tough hard fought fight with the greatest of sportsman ship afterwords, Ricky addressed the crowd and thanked everyone for staying loyal and said if he can be half the champion Tszyu was he'd be a very happy man, he then had the crowd put it together for the fallen champion. Classy.Tszyu then took the mike and told the crowd he proud of his performance but our man was just better than him, he thanked us and told Ricky any help he needs in his career he'd be there for him.
Thats what its all about! Got some great banter goin with the Australian fans too, gid lads!
Mayweather-Gatti.
Greatest performance in boxing history.
Mayweather looked VERY good that fight, yes, but...IN HISTORY?? :) Better than Douglas against Tyson? Jones against Toney and Ruiz? Leonard against Duran, Hearns and Hagler? Floyd over Corrales??? NO WAY (respectfully)...
Now we just need more big events in CT. :)
Best fight for me was seeing Froch-Taylor at Foxwoods. It was the perfect scenario for getting your money's worth. Back and forth, early knockdown, one man tires and has to try to hang on, and then boom - knockout. And it was 12 rounds minus a few seconds.
dans, where in CT are you? I guess Martinez' next fight is here...there is also a pro card in early April at the Hartford Convention Center...

Cotto-Clottey
Not the greatest, but the suspense of being there live, the slow first round then BOOM a jab drops Clottey made MSG ERUPT!!, then a cut in the third round by a clash of heads made me worried that the bout would be stopped to a no contest, after asking Cotto if he could continue, Cotto said let's keep going, and he struggled a lot to keep Clottey's over hand rights off of Cotto's cut. and it became Cotto's closest moment, then the announcment of the winner, it was a split decision, and all you can hear is "De CAGUUUAAAS PUUEERRTTOO RRRIICCOOOO" the stadium went NUTS again..it was awesome!
I wish there were more big fights down here. Probably the biggest fight I ever went to was Roy vs Glen Kelly when he ko'd kelly with his hands behind his back. I've been to pretty much every hbo card down here since and some local shows but that fight had that "big fight" feel to it. It was sold out at the american airlines arena and everyone was dressed to the 9s. roy put on a helluva performance even though we all knew what the outcome was gonna be.
You were AT Ali-Frazier 3 in Manila???????????Tell us about it, my man!!!!
It was all that and more Ice. It was close to 90 degrees and I was sweating profusely with more than 30,000 other people, but I didn't care. I was a wide-eyed fifteen year old seeing his idol/idols in the flesh for the first time. Ali put a punishing on Frazier in the first few rounds but Smokin' Joe just wouldn't quit coming. I wish I could hear what Ali was whispering to Frazier while they're at it, I'm pretty sure it was classic!
