It's definitely up there with the best.
And that 10th round is epic, I can watch it over and over again. And "You gotta f*cking get inside on him now" gives me chills everytime...
corrales-castillo had the greatest round, but it wasn't the greatest fight at all.
hearns -hagler was a greater fight, so was thrilla in manilla, barrera-morales 1,3, bowe-holyfield, even izzy-rafa 2 more recently was a better fight overall IMO
You are on point Walt.
I would say one of the greatest fights was Ward - Gatti I, for pure entertainment and blood and guts, it doesn't get any better in boxing.
Sanchez vs Gomez was also an incredible fight because it seemed neither man stopped throwing punches in the entire fight. Also his fight with Azuma Nelson was the same way.
Leonard - Hearns I was also an incredible fight because of the ending.
Gonzalez/Carbajal I - Great fight
Coralles/Castillo - I can watch this fight every day
Hearns/Hagler - both guys where comming with so much momentum/build up for this one
Ward/Gatti I - unreal fight
Gomez/Pintor - watch it

The best fight for me ever is Pavlik vs. Taylor I lol only because I saw it live and was so pumped up for it. All those other fights thrilla in manilla, Castillo vs. Corrales, and Gatti vs. Ward were so much better but did not mean as much to me because I saw them years later on TV. What did everyone think of Pavlik vs. Taylor I?
Thrilla in Manilla and its not even close.
Thank you!! At least someone named it....
I wouldn't say Thrilla in Manilla is the best, I wouldn't say any specific fight is the best because that's so tough to determine but if you look at the Corrales Castillo fight, it was becoming an ass whoopin up until Corrales spit out his mouth piece twice and then KO'd Castillo.
The second fight showed more of what it should have been. Castillo was really punishing Corrales in that first fight.
Yes it was. Most of the other great fights have been named too.But Cotto-Torres was great too & so was Chiquita Gonzalles-Carbahal.Gonzales-Carbahal was actually the fight that made me a boxing fan.
it is definately up there....i have the full first fight on my computer and all the way through especially in the 10th round i kept on thinking to myself "jesus christ corrales and castillo are some tough fuckers how are they both still standing"
when the 10th round approached and they were both nearly looked like the next punch would kill them chico went down twice and i was thinking wow this guy is never going to give up hes just going to get back up then corralles came with a combination tying castillo against the ropes and BANG! referee stopped the fight because of the barrage of punches corralles was throwing on castillo and the fight was over and all i could think was......wow both guys are definately warriors...sadly boxing has gone soft and we dont get many fights that like anymore or that many warriors..
instead nowadays we have the likes of guys like devon "it burns" alexander :nonono:
One of, and definitely of the last ten or twenty years, but IMO it's impossible to say one fight is the best ever. Fights like Ali-Frazier 3, Vazquez-Marquez 3, Hagler-Hearns, Hearns-Leonard, Duran-Leonard 1, can all be thrown in that conversation. It really is opinion.
My personal favorite fight ever is between Vazquez-Marquez 3 and Pacquiao-Marquez 2.
