It is available for Playstation 3, and I would assume Xbox 360 too. Two major problems for me that will take getting used too:
1. The camera. Very disjointing and confusing for me.
2. Only having to hold the block button and not using the stick to block high or low. I'm so used to doing it that it's a big adjustment.
It's alright. I'll need more time to give a good opinion, wondering if anyone else has played it and has an opinion on it.
I'll get on this in about 1 hour when I'm home from work. Still playing FNR4 too so hopefully this one meets desired standards.
It does feel like a slightly retooled and re-skinned FNR4 but in a good way.
even the character models and commentary are pretty much the same with little things added and changed.
It'd be nice of them to not charge so much for it since they haven't added that much. But I'm afraid that fight night is going to turn more and more into madden or fifa. a lot of money for little changes.
If it was the color commentator (Teddy Atlas), then the fact that he totally butchered makes the game a lot more realistic if you ask me!
Can't wait I just read through this entire threat while DLing it and i'm at 26%. Should be studying for a final, but **** it!
Not Atlas, it was the ring announcer they use. Im really not feeling the guys voice, and he was in FN4 too.
Meh, I'll download it when it comes out.
Sounds like FNR4 v2; No punching in the clinch = not really any improvements.
It plays NOTHING like FNR4. They really changed the overall feel of the gameplay. They do need to add punching in the clinch though, wonder why they won't.
I'm coming around. At first it was such a slugfest for me, but I tried a couple fights focusing on boxing, and the game responded pretty well. It just takes getting used to.
What I liked:
-punches are thrown faster
-punches feel solid when they land
-easy punch combinations
-individual boxer punch animations
-automatic corner recovery
-graphics
What I disliked:
-awkward camera angle
-awkward and stiff footwork (caused by the camera angle)
Overall I liked what I experienced. Just needs a few tweaks but I'm sure they'll fix it when it comes out and the settings are available.
From what I got out of the demo:
Footwork has improved a bit but it still needs work and still feels a little bit stiff still. The faster the boxer is, the lighter it should feel
Punches have real authority this time
A person with a very good jab should be able to stop his opponent in his tracks but they still eat jabs as if they were nothing.
Using a boxer's advantages and avoid disadvantages are really well done
The likeness of the boxers are spot on
The ring entrance is longer and better
Announcer sounds too transparent
Combinations are very well done.
Auto blocking i don't got much of a problem with, but they should also include Round 4's blocking as another option. Both having their tradeoffs.
Feels more fluid.
Corner Game is much better to where you recover based on performance
Clinching needs to restore stamina
Stamina needs to be fixed...it should take longer to recover it.
Fighters should only be able to punch at about 100 punches max if they have high stamina, less than that if they have low stamina.
Ali's chin is too strong. He would def not eat that many of Tyson's hooks and uppercuts.
Full Spectrum controls feels alot better but it seems a little too sensative and unresponsive at times.
If both fighters hold for too long, the referee should analyze quickly and then break the two fighters. He seems to be just there for presentation purposes.
When a fighter has a very very severe cut, they should have a cutscene where the referee pulls the fighter to get it looked at by the doctor and then the doctor can make a choice based on if its waaay too severe.
Other than that, i preordered it and can't wait to play this game like mad on the 1st of March!
I like it, not sure how much yet but I think it's pretty good and the best one in the series yet.
A couple of things did annoyed me though:
No matter who I used the computer just wanted to get into slugfests with me when I was trying to box. I hope that part is AI adjustable.
It's very lame you can't puch in the clinch.
And the fighters faces look good, but their facial expressions are completely frozen.
yeah its pretty good! had some problems adjusting from fight night round 4 but i will definately get this the first day. a little confusing with the block and the camera yes, but thats ok, just give me some time. :)
One more thing, did anyone else catch the way the announcer said Cottos home town, Caguas? He really butchered it, came out something like Caigoz lol, hope they fix that!

This game has a lot of bugs. The buttons are to sensitive. I don't even flick the damn stick and it throws an extra punch, or that the game remembers what I press but it is delayed. The bob and weave is off also. Sometimes it comes out again even when I don't want it too.
WTF? I can't block to the body? One punch blocking... Meh.. I don't know man.. I see a major fail right now. I will not be getting this. FNR4 did it for me. I sold it. FNR3 is the best one. The commentary on this game is also recycled from FNR4. Sad.

Im been playing the demo for 2 days now, and I must say at first it was hard getting used to the blocking change and also the high low modifier. But Now that Ive got the gameplay down a little bettter, game is definitely improved over FN4, which I loveand still play. If you Really learn it and play with a strategy instead of just throwing punches, then you ll find a great boxing game. Working the jab and keeping your punches up, def sick. And with the new full spectrum control you can throw punches alot faster, which makes for some sick combinations to b able to pull off. Another awesome feature is th ereal animations that they gave pac cotto ali and tyson. All move and throw just like the real boxers. The way Pacman throws his jab and straight is just like Pacman. Same with Cotto. his left hook to body, when you throw it with full authority and pressing forward, sick! Still getting used to it, but Im def satisyfied after playing for a couple hours and getting the hang of it.
I like what I've played so far.
a lot of improvements the controls for punching need a little tweaking and the footwork could use a bit work
but overall I think its better!
I think they're still gonna change a few things like pac. His shoes. They're not matching lol
Would it kill them to throw in Roach and Nazim?
The commentary is also copy and paste from the last game for the most part.
They should have gotten HBO crew.
I hope they have some way of turning the commentary off. I remember having to turn my volume down, because I couldn't stand the fight commentary and the things atlas said anymore.
Some rounds they'd make it sound like you were doing well and winning the rounds, so of course you'd think to keep doing what you were doing. Then when the cards came out, it would show that you didn't even win the rounds they were praising you in.
And yeah how hard is it to get roach or any other famous trainer in there. It's not like they're saving some money to get us a better list of fighters to fight with.
2K sports should attempt a boxing game.
they nearly took out Madden with (NFL 2K3), then EA felt threatened and monopolized the whole thing
2K sports took out EA with the NBA 2k series, forcing NBA Live.Elite into temporary retirement lol
bottom like, im no 2K fan boy nor do i play games as much anymore, but 2K sports seems to have the formula for success
plus, its always better to have TWO games on the market
I guess that's when you know a game is a fail; the fact that you and others didn't even realize that 2K sports did make a boxing game like 2 years ago, called Don King Presents: Prize Fighter. The demo featured Luis Collazo vs. Joe Calzaghe. That right there speaks for itself. lol.
I've read alot of bad reviews here. In every installment there is something new to get used to. I'll download it tomorrow. Great series. I hope it's not
sh!t.....
The gameplay seems off-balance at first, especially against the comp, but go online and play somebody who is overall good at FN and its ****ing awesome.
Hint Hint; tap the L button slightly instead of pushing it to the right to move the fighter. Especially as Tyson. Early KO. Me and my boy had 3 all out slug-fests. Crazy back and forth gameplay.
Interesting.
I'll try that. Thanks.

i thought it was an improvement gameplay wise over round 4. but the venue's, ring walks, are just a copy of round 4. i know it's not a big deal, and DEFINITLEY doesn't affect the game for me, but it would just be cool to see nazim walk with mosley/hopkins, and roach and maybe even buboy walk with pac.
The 1-2 works like a charm!
I was making the comment earlier while playing.
